[Interview] Earthrise: First Impact: Resurrecting Earthrise
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 4/12/13 10:54:45 AM
I just logged in the alpha ... They fixed the character movement, it is smooth and faster. The game loads much faster, in a matter ot 7-8 sec. which is a huge improvement from the past. It really has a better performance than before. Good luck to the Silent future!!! |

[Interview] Earthrise: First Impact: Resurrecting Earthrise
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 4/12/13 5:56:35 AM
Actually as I remember, the dev team always listened to the players, but the problem was that there was so many bugs to be fixed that 1 year a game life wasn't enough. And a lots of bugs were fixed! The game was release too soon indeed. I played it in the beta and after release for several months. I think they changed the loot system, because they wanted this game to be accesible to a larger group of people. Imagine that you grinded materials for couple of months in order to carft your 9 tier gear which is the best in game and you loose it in battle because you haven't ensured it ... that is a real pain and it happened a lot when the game was alive. This was a hardcore game for a specific type of players ... like DayZ. The fear that you can loose everything in just one single battle ... It was a sandbox game, with many locations that can be captured and hold by an individual player or a guild and let us not forget that half of their enormous continent was a PvP conquest territory full of neutral bases that can be captured, constructed, defended ... lost. What can I say, Earthrise was always a good promise but half-made. I hope these new guys that are working on it will make it a whole complete game once and for all! One last thing: The screenshots and the video ARE FROM ACTUAL GAMEPLAY! |

Earthrise: The Official Review
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 3/03/11 1:44:49 AM
Well, the author simply don't like PvP oriented games, but this review was a hate, most of it. One playable race? Yes, it's happening on the planet Earth. I don't see many other intelligent species around to play with. It is called a LORE! No E.T. ... it is for adifferent game. "Only once entered into the game world, players are able to begin shaping their character in whatever way they see fit." Sure they do, that is all about this game, dude. And here comes: "Earthrise offers nothing particularly new as the game will only ever call for a Tank, a Healer, a Support, and the ever-green DPS." Excuse me, I'm playing with two types ofweapons - Presicion rifle and a shotgun and I'm going to craft some support and healing devices. So, what is my class in battle? I will tell u - whatever I choose to be, because you can switch weapons and devices in a thick! Though, mastering these skills are a difficult task. Maybe if I have some battlepoints from PvP ... "The developers of Earthrise have taken a huge gamble in adding a manually aimed system with these weapons and while it is an amiable attempt, neither the client nor the server performance is adequate enough to pull it off." I personally don't like WoW and other fanasy types of aiming systems. Manually aiming is something I've been looking for.And with the latest server patches, the lag is significally decreased. And no, u can't kite with T2 gear all mobs in the game. The faster and ranged mobs with much higher BR will bust u in a seconds. "It is a crying shame then that this world is nothing more than a lifeless husk for which mobs to inhabit and players to discover with disappointed eyes. There is nothing to uncover, no stories to tease out, no real reason to question why that landmark is there or why this place has an intense population of overgrown rats." In fact there is a whole bunch of stories and quests telling you about the world, the factions, their supporters and problems with the mutated wildlife of this futuristic and lack of humanity anti-utopia society. Crafting is fun, killin mobs is fun (if u know howto hunt them). I only hope that jumping will drain stamina soon. "The game is simply one-dimensional and in all honesty I see very little potential for anything else." No,dude, the game is PvP-dimensional (It means ganging, loot, insurance, crafting, economy, tactics, strategy), where the PvE is only a background, telling you the story of the world because YOU (the player) is what making Earthrise alive and worthy. I wanna play with players agains players. Only other players is making a game fun 'cause they are not predictable, they are not mobs and don't have the restrictions of the AI. So, everyone who really likes the PvP, crafting, player-driven economy, unique approach of character development and the upcoming territorial conquest IS welcome! |

So, this will be a game like the X-series, but with other players? An action combat and not like EVE -> is what I really need! I hope, the economic system would be build interesting! Good luck with this game, we'll be watching! |

Thank you all for joining the conversation! Yeah, Counterstrike is not quite realistic but my point was that just like in the real life you could be killed by a granade or a single shot, no matter the body armor or helmet you are wearing! And sometimes in such games that kind of chance is little annoying and not balanced, don't you think? |
|
|
This is something that keeps my interest for a long time and I want your opinion (the gamers) on this! 1. Counterstrike - a single shot with a gun can kill the character (realistic enough, although the character has a hitpoints and armor at maximum) or 2. Jedi knight - your character has a hitpoints and shieldpoints and can take a lot of damage before it dies. This is just a simple example of weapon damage. The other one is: 1. Independence war - in space you have inertion and your spaceship is flying almoust realistic (just like in Babylon 5) or 2. Freespace - in this game there is no inertion (or just a little) and your fighter is flying like a plane in the atmosphere (like the Star Wars space battles) So, what do you think? Is it fun for you to play more realistic games that bring you near the real world and that needs more precise thinking of almoust every danger situation, or you like to be almoust an invincible hero? |

General: Weathers: MMO Booby Prize
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 8/28/09 1:47:31 AM
Sanya, the video games are mostly for men not for women. They are made for men and the reason for this are not women's titties ... it's psychology. And please, don't tell me that characters magical boobies will increase propfits ... we do not play games because of the boobies, we are playing for fun, to compete with other people, to enjoy the unrealistc worlds and graphics! |

General: Massey: Why Not A Mystery MMO?
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 7/29/09 10:30:12 AM
Hello Dana, hello to everyone in the threat!
I just want to ask two questions about this Mystery MMO idea and perhaps to answer them as well:
I think beacause it's something new, something different. We all see that today's MMOs share same features of game mechanics, like: creating a character, level advancement, item hunting, raids, crafting, PvP (unbalanced and sometimes that is close to balance). 1.1 The name is the key Well, for me, mystery is a one man experience. I can't share that kind of feeling with noone else, even the closest ones ... but that is just me. The other people have different point of view, different needs.:) 1.2 The Feeling 1.3 The Setting
My answer is this: There is now action, no competition! Everyone needs a good gameplay, as developers like to say for each game: Easy to learn, hard do master ... I may add: Easy to promise, hard to implement. I bet, most of the forum users here and gamers all over the world like to see a really good gameplay, instead of amazing graphics. ... Still there could be a competition like ranking points according to number of successful missions/quests/mysteries and depending this ranking points a new instances for the player would be available. So, that is my opinion! :) |

General: Could the Firefly MMO make it Into Black
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 4/22/08 2:05:43 AM
The real challenge is to create a setting without any background, although Firefly has a TV show and a movie (perhaps novels, stories?). This is not so popular setting and that's why I wish the developers luck! To ride a horse after you go out from a spaceship is a little weird, but sounds funny to me. BTW, I think that there is no gray side anywhere in the literature, movies, games or real life. There is no good and evil, only point of view. ;) |

General: Could the Firefly MMO make it Into Black
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 4/14/08 1:36:58 AM
"Firefly is a geometrically more complex beast. Star Wars was a much more black-and-white universe than Firefly."
Is this some kind of a joke? |
|
|
That`s a pity! It will be a real shame if the script don`t follow the storyline. |
|

Any thoughts?
I was wondering why some big developer doesn't come up with space combat MMO of epic proportions. It would be something like EVE online but more like simulator from the cockpit (Wing Commander style).
Dude, have you ever played the X games (X-BTF; X2-The Threat; X3-Reunion)? X is a space simulator. There is an economic micromanagment and you can command a fleet (fighters, support, capital ships). The game development company Egosoft is too small to handle an online project, but this is a game with expanding universe and pretty user-friendly gameplay. If someday the guys from Egosoft find a sponsor about an online game of their setting I think it will be something what all space simulators fens waits for -> a breathing universe, adaptive economy, variety of races and ships ... and finally, this would be the end of this funny space action EVE!
BTW, Freespace 2 is pretty good for a dog fight ... but for an online game not.

Blizzard`s Next MMOG is Starcraft Online?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 2/01/08 3:11:33 AM
Is there any possibility that Blizzard has another ideas for game world, different from Warcraft, Diablo or Starcraft. I've seen enough already! These settings are explored. Pfu, even the races from the most famous Blizz setting Starcraft are PLAGIARIZED by Warhammer 40K. These guys don`t have nothing new to show to the world ... So, World of starcraft ... no, thanks! |
