Now that SWTOR is obviously a success
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 2/20/12 4:55:00 AM
Standard MMO launch. First month is always full of subs regardless of MMO. Second month it retains those subs because people either A. hope it'll get better B. were busy doing something else and haven't played enough or C. Forgot to unsub before it renewed. Third month the game flops, though SWTOR won't flop for a while and it'll certainly have a chance at life if the development team pulls their heads out of their asses. The game is a wash. It's not bad for the casual player looking to play a few hours a day couple of times per week, but it's not a game that anyone can play 5-7 days a week for 6-8 hours a day and enjoy. The content is too easy and a lot of it is buggy. The loot is generic and optimized poorly for classes. The PvP is boring and dull, expertise is a broken stat. I could go on and on about why I unsubbed, but the truth is that SWTOR is a great casual game. Not only will the casual audience continue to play it, but so will the fanboys. With those two audiences, they should have enough income per month to sustain the game and develop additional features. If Bioware plays their cards right they could potentially address all of the games current problems within 3-4 months and pull in a large audience, including the hardcore players. It's certainly not a success, but it won't fail either. Not at the moment anyway. |

I'll try and update with the screenshots once I fix them up, but when I was purchasing the game for myself and some friends all of the additional copies I purchased on their accounts were added to the one account I owned. I ended up with about 4 copies of Tera on one account. With anticipation of a headache I put in a ticket with the purchase numbers and within about 3 hours I recieved a response telling me the 3 extra copies would be refunded soon as the orders cleared. 24 hours later I got my refunds. Hands down some of the best costumer service, even when I'm sure they're swamped with the start of the U.S. beta. |

Vindictus: The Official Review
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 11/25/10 11:43:31 PM
The game is not an MMORPG and it's not even 40% complete. Lack of customization? You are playing the wrong game. If the game gets boring for you, that's more your problem than anyones. Sure, the game has cons, but it is free. You really can't talk shit on this game because it's either fun or it's not, either way it cost you 0$. The game is a hack and slash based around obtaining new loot and leveling up skills. I can't believe people still complain about free shit. Do you go to addictinggames.com and run around probing games for cons? No, you play them and if they're fun you continue playing them. If they bore you, you stop. If you don't like hack and slashes, don't play it. It recycles content a lot, but if you're into just mind-blowing fun and fast paced action than play it. Anyway, the game is no where near finished, they're releasing it in segments and they're very good at listening to the audience's requests. If you're looking to play Vindictus 14 hours a day, you're going to get bored. But if you're a gamer by even the shoddiest definition, you'll enjoy having a free and fun game to play 3-4 hours a day. And you won't feel behind if you choose to not play it at all for a bit. The classes are unique, the gear is amazing, the boss fights are fun. Scythe Evie is easily one of the best class designs in the past decade and it's a blast to play. You can effectively play the game 4+ hours a day everyday without ever spending a penny, yet you will never be left behind or alone in the leveling. In the end, the game is free. The game is fun. And haters will hate on that which doesn't agree with their opinion. |

First off, who plays WoW for only 2 hours a month during active content? You either play it a fair amount or you don't play it at all. Also, last I checked, someone who plays 2 hours a week or month is still considered a subscriber. Perhaps you misunderstood their intentions. They were stating the amount of subscriptions they have per month, not that they make 15$ per sub or that all 12 million of them play 16 hours a day. Either way you look at it, 2 hours a month is still a subscriber who pays to play the game. You just fooled yourself by coming up with false intentions in your head. |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Things SWTOR Isn't
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 10/25/10 6:06:47 AM
Essentially, what I gathered from this post is "Bioware has done X before, don't expect Y". You say "If you’re saying this already, I’m sorry, but you’re only guessing", but so are you. Almost everything here is a guess. Must be a slow day. |

World of Warcraft: Seven Reasons Cataclysm Could Suck
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 10/22/10 2:52:12 AM
I honestly read the title and thought, " hmm , this could be an interesting read, I wonder what the reasons are?" - Not even a quarter through I couldn't read it anymore, so I skimmed the remaining blue font and much to my expectation, it was equally terrible. You sir, have managed to baffle me. It doesn't happen often, but never had I expected a "staff writer" to write up such an incomprehensibly terrible post. I could spend 15 minutes proving every one of your aforementioned "reasons", but why bother. This is obviously either a troll post or just..... I don't know. I hope you're trolling. |

I for one cannot wait to see IGN and Gamespot tear this game apart because I promise you they will. |

General Discussion « Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn 9/28/10 4:08:44 PM
Why are people so concerned with the accuracy of the 500 or so polled reviews? It's 500 people saying the game is terrible. That's your community, that's your target audience. If they don't enjoy the game, you lose. It doesn't matter if 2/500 people find the game fun because the other 498 people do not. If you fail to appeal to even a quarter of the MMO community, you've failed as a company to produce something good. It's almost as if people have forgotten that "unique" doesn't mean good, it just means it stands out. You have 498 people out of 500 that will not provide you 15$ a month. That 30$ you'll receive from the 2 that like it won't be enough to fund and expand your game, thus in the long run it's a failure and will fail. Your game is unique, but it's unique for the bad reasons. Your game can be unique because it allows extreme character customization and development or it can be unique for having more terrible cutscenes than gameplay (even if your gameplay is as terrible as the cutscenes). |

Originally posted by Presbytier Of course by unintelligent you mean that they don't agree with someone's point of view 100% and not that they actually lack the intelligence to tell whether or not a game is fun and user-friendly. I'd also very much enjoy seeing those 7/10 "reviews" you mentioned, because I've seen none. 90% of threads in the FFXIV forum of this site and every other gaming site are negative and bashful reviews. If I had to guess, I would sooner approximate them to be 2-3/10 and the most positive of reviews being the generous 7/10 you suggested. |

Originally posted by VooDoo_Papa I get the feeling that you're trying to say the review is somehow inaccurate or biased because it was done by the masses. I don't get why people are walking around saying, "Hey, just because 9/10 players says this game is bad doesn't make it bad.". It's almost as if people are saying that the game isn't bad because 1 out of every 500 gamers enjoys it. The best way to review a game is mass opinion. Sure you may get some unintelligent opinions, but seeing as how this review was compiled using 500 opinions, I'd say it's an accurate one. The game has fun graphics, the rest is broken or appeals to 1/500 people. |

General Discussion « Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn 9/28/10 1:26:41 PM
Originally posted by geldonyetich What expectations should he have had? He went in for the story, found that it was utterly dull. He tried combat and found it okay, but boring. He then tried crafting and found it boring. He tried another character and it was the same. I mean, maybe 9/10 MMORPG players that say this game sucks are just bloody idiots who were expecting a good game. What expectations did the people enjoying the game have? Did they just understand it would be unfinished, unpolished and akin to running your balls across a cheese grader and were thus satisfied? The crafting sucks. The combat sucks. The gathering sucks. The story sucks. The translation to English sucks. The cut scenes suck and they're more frequent than the game play. The only people who are having fun with this game are the ones who never played anything better and thus never expected anything to be good. |

Pretty stand up of them. I wish I could've gotten a refund for Tabula Rasa. Sucks knowing you bought a game you'll never be able to play again. |

Ultima Online, hands down. Taming a badass dragon and then supporting it with summons and nukes and heals. Ah the nostalgia. Such an awesome game. |

That's like asking the girls from two girls one cup if puking into someone else's mouth and then having them puke your own puke back into your mouth is fun. For them? Yes. For you? ______. You can really only draw the correct conclusion yourself. Using logic and reasoning. |
