Hey, mmorpg.com. When do we get your review? **Updated: prepare for the sh*tstorm**

For all we know the review may say shooting cannons at players, ships and cities isn't fun, or doesn't work; or blowing up or building cities isn't fun or doesn't work, or whatever. He/she may say cooperating with a guild or alliance is not fun and prefers a more solo friendly game. Point is merely that a reviewer "experience" the whole game to the extent possible, as those of us playing it are. -CC I write in green therefore i am important! |

Ok i keep this short for you because you are not the first smartass here with these stupid comparisons. Starvault is listed on the stock market www.starvault.se (you can read their financial reports there in case you are so paranoid), is completely loan free, invested at least one million dollars into an Unreal Engine license, has EPIC Games(!) and EPIC Games China as partners, has transparency in terms of business, attended to the GC08, is not owned by some unknown corp lurking in the shadows...etc etc i leave the thinking to you.
Mourning...Dark&Light...lmao I followed both and i closely follow MO...sorry dude..WORLDS APART! Now this is not a guarantee for success but as close as we can get at the moment and that is enough for me. oh btw 2/10. |

This is why independent companies should not make MMO's

That is quite a statement coming from a DF player and rabid fanboy who proved more than once to be a complete douche on the DF forums LOL. And nobody will pay you to play MO because nobody wants you there sorry pal. |

People who paid for this in advance = patrons of the arts

I would rather pay money to a fresh company with new ideas than some behemoth like EA who maybe charges 20 bucks less but feeds people with the same crap for years. I feel much more ripped of by big companies like EA and SOE because they would actually have the budget to make great games. Yet they charge standard prices and only deliver mainstream hand-holding goo with a complete lack of creativity. And to those who constantly yell SCAM&FRAUD. Most people would have never preordered MO if it wouldn`t be for EPIC Games supporting them with net code and advice. EPIC Games China is also involved with providing the Atlas Extension for the Unreal Engine to make it truly MMO capable. SV also bought licensing for the Unreal Engine which is easily up to 1 million dollars per license..SV is listed on the Stock Market too. You don`t do such things and go into the stock market if you plan a scam....that would be plain stupid. CEO Henrik Nystrom himself stated on IRC today that SV is completely loan free...pretty good for a newcomer. Examples like DF, Dark&Light, etc. are horrible because those had no business transparency at all and had no well established partners whatsoever...just look at Aventurine and their shady NA double billing shit. A new company with a strong established partner supporting them is trustworthy imo and deserves my investment. No need to throw money at greedy multi-million dollar corps or shady Tasos in my eyes.

You are paying for the game, and will get the game with this money as well, but it will not be a fully functional game for over a year, anyone who thinks otherwise can look at Age of Conan, a game with tons more developers, tons more money and it took them a year just to get their game out of beta and that was almost finished at launch.
basically you are paying to fund the developers to finish the game...

I even looked something up for you...see it as a little pacifier for your ramblings and a little start on your way to self-inform yourself. On another note if you have questions to the devs just post them in the "Answer your questions" subforum there eh?! www.mortalonline.com/forums/4886-few-questions-classes-deva-full-loot-housing.html#post107005 |

Why the fuck don`t you just go to the official forums for once and look up some of the dev replies. This issue has been debated to no end there and they already stated that if you fight naked you will be a very very easy kill. They are not THAT stupid you know...you ramble here all the time and mostly about stuff you are simply uninformed about. And people in DF didn`t fight naked because they were afraid of losing stuff....they did it because it made no big difference at all while removing their own risk from the game. It`s simply fucked up balancing...blame AV. |

LOL you do know that there is no such thing as a "free demo" in the MMO genre don`t you? There is rarely even a trial right after release....most of the time you have to wait for at least six months. xbox360 and single player pc games are not really in the same boat... Oh and btw...you know what a movie trailer is? They all look good but easily half of them turn out to be crap. same goes for game demos. Mostly you see the best parts of the game and when you buy it it turns out to be a hollow shell and they lured you in. Bad analogy there m8. |

Oh thank you for bein so gracious as to change other peoples opinion so that they match that of your own. Any proof or indication that the normal boxed version is a limited edition? In Sweden (you know, same country as Starvault resides in) I can buy ANY PC game for 4-500 SEK including box, taxes and shipping. As comparison I paid about 800 SEK for MO. You do the math. Where is the download edition? How can I buy it? I cant you say because they are not available and is only the devs say they will be reasonably priced. How stupid of me not to take the words of the dev of said game as dogma. Not like game developers have ever stretched the truth or anything...
Oh boy...if you buy a game in a store the box gets replaced. So there are always new boxes hence there is no limit theoretically. MO offers only 10k boxes and that`s it. They will most likely never offer boxed versions again so you could call that limited. How you interpret that is your problem but not really a matter of debate i guess. And "ANY PC GAME" in the store comes in a crappy paper box you just throw away. And why do you still ramble on about the DD? People explained it multiple times to you already...or how about informing yourself? The DD will be available on Monday in the same store you already preordered the box. Now if there is something to ramble about please do it on Monday.

All I am saying is, you can't compare PC game prices with console prices as the dvd used to burn the image to the disk cost more money... So people can't say that $75 for MO is just like buying a console game thats around $60....
So your saying for them to run the same encryption program on the software to burn and then just make 1million copies of it like you would on a normal DVD makes it alot more expensive? Or are you saying that the disk itself is actually different that Microsoft invented a new type of DVD (couldnt be called dvd since there is a patent on this) ?
The dvd the xbox 360 uses is a dual-layer dvd (used with xbox 360 so it can read to play the games) The ps3 uses blu-ray
I am talking about the dvd itself, not the encryption software it uses.
Normal DVDs are cheaper than the dual-layer and the blu-ray, making the game a cheaper price.
lol do you actually know that mega-corps like Sony and Microsoft have their own DVD duplication factories? Hell Sony even produces blank DVDs themselves! They literally poop out copies and i am pretty sure it costs them almost nothing in comparison to a single 10k duplication run. Yet their Games are still more expensive?! Hmmmm...your logic intrigues me. Maybe THEY ARE in fact overpriced! And WTF has the content of the disc (encryption?) to do with the actual disc price?? It does not matter if you slap a movie or a game on a DVD it is both Data and the disc will always be at the same price no matter what.. Storage Size is the only factor here. L2DVDMaster.

Originally posted by Yamota Them being honest about it upfront does not make it not counterproductive as I feel, and probably many others, that charging for beta testing (or whatever kind of testing you want it to be called) is not a good way of doing bussiness. It is showing people that: * They want your money before the game is finished Which probably means that: * They are low on money Which is not a good omen for the final game as that could mean that there will be alot of missing features at launch. Actually there will be as they have said it themselves. So when all is said and done this is basically paying (alot) of money so that they can finish the game for release. I decided that I am willing to do that but that doesnt take away the fact that this is not a good sign. However, things could be worse, and this could also mean that they are not a serious game developer and just want to make a quick buck and then bolt (like Mourning, Dark And Light and arguably Darkfail). I personally dont think so but I cannot rule it out. So anyway you wanna cut it, this "paying months before release" is not a good sign.
If you want to make a "quick buck" you don`t buy a license for the Unreal Engine which easily goes up to a million dollars. I also highly doubt that EPIC Games would be personally involved into MO if they would not be sure what SV is up to. Starvault is also listed on the stock market www.starvault.se/index.php . Not a good idea to go there if you plan to pull out eh? When it comes to business transparency SV is lightyears ahead of DF and D&L. Bringing those up as comparisons in business terms is quite a good joke. And please spare us your "Omens" and Predictions already...it is getting tiresome. And you still do not get it that you do not pay for Beta am i right? You argue here since DAYS is guess..constantly complaining about the same points. And judging from your posts you are pretty paranoid....lots of "ifs", "when", "probably", "should" in your posts... Whatever dude..but seriously keep your interpretations of things to yourself. |
