Jon Wood,
Mabye I am nitpicking here ;-) but, you state that the Pre-orders will give you presidens in the Trial, this is untrue. The trial starts jan 22nd and no preorders will be taken before mid february.
So in short of letting EVERYONE sample the game for free in the trial, witch was their inital promise, there will be plenty of players that will be able to try the game before they buy. The reason for not letting everyone in, is given and obvious: They never anticipated this much hype, and the high level of interest. Tasos even gives a rather epic quote on that saying "Hype surrounding Darkfall is huge right now, despite our best efforts" Thanks |

That is probably just what Aventurine WANTS.. did you read the latest news? This rather epic quote is from that said news "Hype surrounding Darkfall is huge right now, despite our best efforts" link |

Wow random, cudos for saying that. I will read your posts with a more open mind in the future.

Wait a minute - Didn't Tasos tell us many times he'd never ask for money of anyone before they got a chance to play it first !??!??

Definition: LINK A beta test is a limited release of a product with a goal of finding bugs before the final release. Software testing is often referred to by the terms "alpha" and "beta." Generally speaking, the alpha test is an internal test to find bugs, and the beta test is an external test. During the alpha phase, the product is opened up to employees of the company and, sometimes, friends and family. During the beta phase, the product is opened up to a limited number of customers. Sometimes, beta tests are referred to as "open" or "closed". A closed beta test has a limited number of spots open for testing, while an open beta has either an unlimited number of spots (i.e. anyone who wants to can participate) or a very large number of spots in cases where opening it up to everyone is impractical. |

Well, Who will buy gold from them? Remember it's full loot, lets say you buy 10.000 gold form them so you can build your boat. The next day, ganksquad 101 (the same company that you bought the gold from) gank your ass and steal your boat. Are you going to buy another 10.000 gold for real life money?
-I sure won't |

Take the quote in the OP with a big grain of salt, it is quoted from some random dude on the IRC that clamed to have been at the event and heard Mr.T speak. so.. |

Still waiting of an example of another good MMO that kept their NDA in place for as long. If the game is Ready... why is the NDA still in place?
That is obvious, if you can't figure that out... |

Webhallen have had DFO up for pre-order for a long time now, but I would not dare to order it. AV have said that NO preorders have been approved from their side. |

I too find it quite unlikely that AV is actually sueing someone, but the rumor might be quite effective against the current beta-testers and that might be why they don't deny it. |

That don't even come close to AV's NDA. Look it up and read it and you will see. And about you not paying fines, that is all fine and dandy, some people take their lives a bit more seriously than you do I guess. You probably wont be playing DFO since I doubt they have broadband in the trailer park. |

PKER.org hardly signed an NDA so the joke is on you. You seem to think that your e-peen is pretty large, I am willing to bet that you would cry in RL when the law-suit found it's way to your hands. |

Again, your participation in the proceedings is not required in most civilised countries.. So unless you are from a banana-republic it don't matter. And will only look bad for your case. |

I dont know where you live...but in the EU, YOU SHOW UP to court. With the police or not.
The point he's making is, if all they have is a signature on a piece of paper and no other form of ID or an address they don't actually know who they're supposed to be taking to court. How do they serve papers to this person? How do they identify him/her? I give a false signature and no other ID where will the police go to pick me up? For a small civil case the police aren't going to pick me up and drag me to court in the EU or anywhere else on the planet. I don't turn up the judge will go in the favour of the prosecutor, but since they don't know who the hell I am it doen't really matter. How will they get compensation when all they have is an email address and a signature that reads "Ivor Biggun"?
Because you are required to add Name, address, country on the actual NDA. Look it up. And as I said in my other post, you don't need to show up at court, they will rule anyway. (and probably against you if you are a no-show.) |
|
|
It's harch I grant you that but it's not a joke if they drag you to to court. And ofcourse you won't go to jail, but you could be slapped with a fine. I think you would think twice too, your e-peen don't give you any freebees in RL
Edit: If you would be a no-show in court (in civilized countries that is) the court would likely rule against you and you would be MADE to pay the fine. You DONT play hide and seek with the justice system. What banana-republic are you from? |
