the game is pathetic, 2 builds to choose from pure str or pure int then all the hybrids cant hold their own. everyone looks the same, everyone does the same dmg, everyone is a clone of each other all you do all day is sit around with a 9 lvl gap grinding up to the cap lvl. SRO is one of the worst games i have ever played. ........................................................ |

Just wait for the frigin game and you will find out, calm down. I can think of only 4 mmorpgs that have pvp anywhere anytime and its still limited and they are f2p games, i dont know of any p2p games that have pvp anywhere anytime, AoC wont stray too far out of the usual p2p mmorpg.

OK, after an hour wasted of researching this game i logged on and decided what character i want to play, i spawned in the noob village went out killed a couple of monsters and quit. I'm admitting that i played for about 5 min max but after logging in i held no interest for the game. to me the graphics were grainy and terrible at max setting, camera view felt odd, mini map didnt show where to find my quest, didnt like the interface. Ive played about 75% of the f2p mmorpgs listed on mmorpg.com ive had a crap load of...crap, downloaded onto my computer. this is by far not the worst ive played but i wouldnt recommend it to anyone. im sure alot of people love the game and i dont hate it, im just not interested in it and i see why some others might not either.

This game is a long grind, i only got to lvl 47 it took me 6 months or more to get to that lvl without using any tickets and i was full int (fastest lvler in the game). Im not sure what prices are like these days but a year ago most people in my guild spent 30-40$ a month on the game, the items they bought were, Gold Ticket which gives u double xp for 3 hours every 24 hours (now they have Premium Ticket which is almost a must have if u wanna play the game whenever you want) and a pet clock (pets will pick up all ur drops, very efficient) and thats ur 30$ for the month. Then there are the tablets for stopping ur stuff from breaking if u wanna upgrade it above +3. basically if u want to lvl fast you have to buy tickets and if u wanna lvl fast u dont wanna run around picking up ur money and such so u need a pet. there are quite a few botters in this game or at least there used to be, and a CRAP load of afk player shops in the towns, i sometimes used to DC because of it and my internet is decent. if u wanna grind for 6 months just to get to half the lvl cap then by all means pick this one, if u want any faster then u need some CASH.

well.. at the moment im playing shaiya, im a casual gamer and im enjoying it quite a bit, its got lots of quests, pretty easy to lvl (so far im only lvl 15), i havnt tried pvp yet but apparently its good, easy to get weapons and gear as u get it all from ur quests (i havnt spent a dime in any npc shop). all in all its been a good game to burn a couple of hours a day on so far, im not sure how much you will enjoy it if u just go solo-speed-demon-lvler. so here's a game to add to ur 'have a look at' list if you wish to do so.
peace devoux
P.S: Guild wars takes time or long hours to get ur char/s decent, even though i love the game and used to own it (i wish i had bought the discs so i could play now, as it takes ages to download) it does take time. however if ur a gamer that likes to sit down for 4-6 hours a day then i would also recommend it. |

The combat in AoC that has been talked about is what got me interested in AoC in the first place and only that reason. Anyone who has played an FPS can easily manage all those buttons, and some, i used to play FEAR Combat Multiplayer and its the fastest paced fps i have ever played, when i first started my fingers actually got sore from darting over the keyboard, i used to give my fingers a 5 min break every 30 mins or so. if u wanna get ur finger bashing skills up u can download FEAR combat for free or try cod4, they are the 2 games i believe have fast pace. Personally im sick and tired of watching a lil character from above shooting/hacking a mob to pieces while i press numbers, it makes me feel disconnected and thus bored which leads to me leaving the game, as a result i've left all my rpg's until i find something with better combat, i have a feeling AoC will be it. One question for all the hardcore AoC watchers, will there be a first person camera view? P.S. i dont think anyone can answer the question to the thread name, unless u find someone thats actually tried the combat.

if u want decapitation, go play requiem it has some hardcore body parts flying around. a mature rating will not mean a mature community, i know 7 yr olds that play GTA on computer and console, and just because your over watever age the game is rated to, there are still immature people, i know a 45 year old who is as immature as your average spoilt 10 - 13 year old. personally i dont understand why people are getting so excited about all these 'new big titles' coming out, you get yourself too excited and then when you play you just get dissapointed because u expect so much. its like watching a kid nagging his/her mum for a biscuit, but when they get a nice plain biscuit they chuck it on the ground because they anticipated a chocolate chip biscuit.
just wait for the game(s), then you'll see what they are really like.

oh yeah it was definetly my fault (no sarcasm intended) i tried to download the game off gamearena (I live in australia which is a country that still has no fiber optics or in some places have got it but telstra is too busy making large amounts of money off copper connections), but it was corrupt, i only have 12GB a month to spend so i thought to heck with it. it was a reckless decision fueled by the want for a new interesting game after quitting all other games played. my bad fo sho

I bought this game about 2 months ago, cost me 80$ for the game and a 30day game card which isnt too bad i guess considering i thought i would have a good time exploring, fighting etc. This game did not click with me at all, one of the slowest mmo's ive played i dont mean the lvling i mean the getting around, i gave it another go a couple of weeks back with my friend and after about 20 mins i stood up, logged off and put the cd case in a draw and said 'lets go have some fun'. most of that 20 mins playing was just running around trying to find out what the hell i had to do, the skills are in no way interesting, the fighting style was slow and boring, the running was so slow, area's too vast with hardly any mobs and the quests felt like a drag. sure my character was only lvl 8 and 10 and some would say 'omg noob u gotta play longer to get somewhere' but why would i want to bore myself so that i might, maybe, possibly have fun in the long run. too much of a gamble with time that could be spent doing things i enjoy. I have played mmo's for about 3.5 years now and this would be borderline 'a worst experience' game. and ive tried some horrible f2p games. i guess the thing i resented and was dissapointed by the most was that i spent 80$ just to get the game. 80$ down the drain i guess... this has gotta be the most depressing post ever written

I agree that people dissing WoW is getting really boring to see and its all been said millions of times and it sucks, but, what about all the people who diss games because its a "WoW lookalike " a "WoW clone" or just "WoW shits all over this game and i have nothing else to say so suck on dat!". I'm getting really tired of seeing it and it is literally everywhere. I dont think i have opened a game thread on this site where someone has not said something about how WoW has something over the game. There's my little whinge for the day.

when you buy the full version i think you keep your lvls. but on the trial every server you join it resets ur lvl and u start from lvl 1 the rewards for lvling are more the hp, endurance, intelligence and strength. Also i think the higher lvl you are the better gear you can buy (you get gold everytime you kill someone) there are 3 chars u can choose from on lvl 1 then when the commander (you can apply for commander much like BF2, the commander will set up buildings which one of the characters can mend/make the production faster) With each new building you can unlock 1 of the next characters. so say the commander builds a fort everyone will get the big beefy guy unlocked and can choose to use him if they wish (the lvl of the character you have been lvling transfers to the new one so say u have a lvl 4 hunter and you choose the beefy guy, the beefy guy will be lvl 4) I have only managed to get to lvl 8 in one server which took me about an hour because i was testing the characters and i had only briefly played savage 1 so i didnt really know what to do. Loads of fun give it a trial b4 u buy.

MMO's are definitely addictive I know because i have experienced it first hand about a year 1/2 ago i got addicted to silkroad online (i know its terrible how could i!?) but nevertheless it happened and i stopped going out when i was the party fiend always asking people to come out and have a good time. i stopped studying grades went down blah blah blah all those things I'm sure you have heard of it. Anyway a year ago after being addicted to sro for half a year I saw this rehab site for WoW players and made me realise how real the addiction was so yeah i quit sro went and lived with my sister who doesn't have a computer that was pretty much a year ago i play games between 10-15 hours a week and im on holidays. For an approximate measure i would say if you play more than 50 hours of one game a week (thats 7 hours a day) i would say your addicted.

Im lvl 39 summoner currently, im loving this game. The best thing abut this game so far for me is the pace at which you play. Quests are so abundant i dont have to sit around clicking monsters all day until i lvl. Obviously i dont know what its like at the high lvls, but its kept me interested for about 7 hours so far which is much more than i can say for alot of games ive tried lately (i am a casual gamer). Huzzah for Zu lets just hope they dont screw up!! XD
