I used to use it, considering the size of the game world, I looked at it as more helpful then ruining the game experience.

Hi Mark,

If you didn't get the email with the promotion, it's because you didn't opt-in for the newsletters and promotions. If you'd like to see future promotions, you can chage those settings at our website, such as eq2players.com.

If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Best regards,
Richard

Damn that's not true, looking at my 'Newsletter and Promotional E-mail Selections' page, I have EQ2 ticked to recieve newsletters and updates, and I have Promotional E-mails ticked also to recieve e-mails from station only.

Ah well, re-subscribed to the game anyways, and purchased Echoes of Faydwer digitally. Gotta figure out which server has the best population to start a new character on.

I immediately stopped playing WoW and cancelled the subscription upon hearing about this expansion. I wasn't impressed at all by The Burning Crusade, and the changes it had brought to all the classes. I played on the Europe servers, and felt the increased level cap had hurt PVP, as it seperated players between those who owned the expansion, and those who did not. This expansion with it's level cap of 80 is a bad idea.

Dark Age of Camelot had a much better approach for bringing new content to high level characters, instead of increasing the level cap and thus seperating players in the PVP field, it introduced champion levels, those who were level 50 and had no champion levels, and those who were level 50 and were champion level 10 could still face one another in RVR. Champion levels did not unbalance the game in anyway, as the abilities gained from each champion level were not as potent as the abilties from the classes.

When you play that video, it sounds like a vehicle driving past the person recording that sound.

But that shuriken style symbol also made me wonder if that elusive 4th empire was ever being introduced...Nah, probably not. :P

Now that good gear is MUCH easier to obtain, and the changed PVP mechanics, I think it removed alot of tension from the game. Playing WoW now, and when I did when it was first released, feels alot better, everything seems more relaxed.

Why I like WoW:

Plenty of dungeons/instances as you level up keeps levelling interesting, especially if you take an interest in the world around you, and it's lore.

-

I like it's visual style, and even in 10 years time, I'll always appreciate how WoW looked when it could have been so easily another next gen graphics game like most MMO's which simply lack any immagination in it's visuals.

-

Battlegrounds, I like the mission based PVP in this game, and the general camaraderie you sense when you push the opposing foes back and take back control of the map.

-

Lot's of varied zones, it was always surprising to see how the next zone looked when compared to the previous.

Minotaurs are now the new "fugly" race, which imo, Firbolgs have always held since the release of DAOC, weldone chaps !

Got tired of RVR, so decided to play on Mordred, I'm having some of the best fights ever, which can also lead to some very frustrating moments too. It's fun fighting friends on there, when WAR Online comes out, definately gonna roll on the PVP server. :D

Been playing DAOC on and off since 2001, and I agree, it's a fantastic game.

The only MMO where I've cancelled and immediately had my account closed, even though I still had a week left on the account, was A Tale In The Desert, grr.

Did you not cancel your subscription? They continue to bill you until you cancel it yourself, if I only want to subscribe to a game for a month, I subscribe, then immediately cancel, so that I don't forget to cancel in the future to stop the auto billing.

BFR's are no longer a problem, and when you're on foot, you do your damned best to hide from one passing you, heh, keeps the suspense up. The new content is great, looking forward to weapon variations especially, since I play foot soldier roles rather than vehicle roles, but I love to gun on vehicles, so looking forward to the galaxy gunship and Sundered especially.

I never once showed an ounce of interest in this game throughout it's development and when the game went into beta. That all changed when I watched the new Gameplay Movie found here just to see how different it really was;

http://www.dreamlords.com/home.action?type=movies

I'm really enjoying it so far, the web management part of the game is great, and you can micro manage many parts of the game. I enjoy killing mobs and completing quests in the 3D RTS client in the hope of getting good loot, then going to the web management and equipping my army with loot I collected from the 3D RTS client. It's definately worth trying at least. When you load up the RTS client, you're automatically in the HELP channel, and people are always willing to help, the community has really helped me understand the game alot so far, since the games manual and wiki site are currently incomplete which is a shame, although people are working on these.

Although it's a slow burning game, and learning the game for the first few days is very daunting, since there is alot to grasp, this game is definately deep, and will probably put people off, but if you like managing cities, which thus, improve your armies capabilties so you can take on tougher monsters/quests and do better in PVP, it makes for very addictive gameplay since you have so much control over how well or bad you do. I'm still learning alot of the game myself at the moment, and I'm glad I made an impulse decision to buy it, cheap enough anyway.
