Yes it seems like a deathnote IMO. With the community manager getting axed, the former head getting demoted and now some new woman whom I have never heard of coming on saying she is in charge, gives me a lot to worry. I subbed for a month, if I don't see a real answer from this "producer" about Origins, then I'll move on and just fantisize about what could have been. As it stands now, I am unsubbed and playing my 1 month. To say that introducing a new server would jeopardize the current crop of players is complete Bull. That is about as beleivable as Weapons of Mass Destruction in a country so reduced by export bans that they sell their one and only resource for food and medicine forgoing their military. Oh wait.... To keep the 1-50 and thats giving an awful lot of compromise on Modred, not to mention the 200 to (maybe) 400 people on Gaheris as listed in the Herald instead of bringing in a new server with content that would bring back more players is a complete fantasy. I really do not understand their logic in saying that a new server would alienate the current subs, if Classic didn't do that, then I seriously doubt Origins would. To be honest, it does indeed look like that they are scared that if they brought back Origins, the WAR numbers would decline. Which does not make much sense in the overall picture since its the same company. I'd say they are going to wait until the 1.2 patch goes live for WAR and if the numbers keep dropping THEN they might come back to DAoC. Of course, it does make one think that after the introduction of the Alien expansion pack in Anarchy Online, to the four years in development of failed release of Age of Conan, that they all of a sudden bring in a new Booster pack for AO, that Funcom might be thinking that keeping the original afloat may be better than the nighmare that is AoC. Odd times. |

Choosing the Midgard faction and kinda confused abit.

Paladin = Thane or Skald (I say skald because battlesongs is all wrapped up into 1 line, no need to switch weapons of anything). Cabalist = Spiritmaster or Bonedancer Heretic = Warlock or Valkyrie, Not much of a comparison there. |

I've noticed this as well. Seems strange. Possibly because the new players all want to group, but the old ones just want to be left alone. I play a stealther so being in a group isn't that helpful for me. Best bet is to make a cleric and then see if anyone wants to group. |

class reccomendation for albion
Round Table Pub (General) « Dark Age of Camelot 2/14/09 9:20:47 AM
Necro is a fun class, armsman is a solid tank, friar is a buffing and fighting class. PvE wise go with Necro, RvR I'd suggest a reaver or an infiltrator, but its really up to you. What has the most group potential is prolly a utility class like a sorcerer or a cleric. |

http://www.camelotherald.com/news/news_article.php?storyid=3799 So...it looks like the recession hits DAoC as well. As for Origins, I'm a little worried by her statements, looks like Origins seems to be on the back burner. I don't get their reasoning as Modred is pretty much dead, and Gaheris is a close second. A new server type might be what the game needs to really pull in some numbers again. At least putting in some new content for all levels might be nice. None of this dragon, doppleganger, or ghosts stuff. So, looks like my stay will be short lived, resubbed and quickly canceled my card so as not to be charged more than a month. Might have to actually put some real money down and pick up WAR, especially when that 1.2 patch goes live (55 pages of notes...rofl). I'd come back for Origins, as the game stands now, there is really nothing to do other than RvR. And frankly, I like to explore the PvE content as well, and there just doesn't seem to be anyone else interested in that stuff. Ah well. See what happens in the next 2 weeks. |

You can actually level your toon up to 5-7 and then goto the Demons Breach (the only dungeon on tutorial level) and then port right to the first Battleground, Lion's Den. The mobs there are pretty nice and easy, not to mention all the BGs currently provide a 200% bonus to exp, which is why everyone just goes there to level. Around 20 or so you might want to check out Darkness Falls and gather the lowest level seals which can net you some nice lvl 30 armor and weapons, compared to catacombs stuff its a coin flip imo, but it does offer a change of scenery. Currently the relic distribution on classic is 4 for alb and 2 for mid, so roll one of those realms for the bonus. When you hit 35-39, the battleground will be Molvik. Molvik is a tad different than other BGs, for one thing its always populated with lots of players. It has monsters to kill, but you will probably be encountering other players more than you will see mobs. You will see spam about it and the New Frontier battles non stop. The large population in Molvik is also because a lot of people have used the /xpoff command to just stay there at level 39 and never level up again. Its quite a popular destination and unless your equipment is top notch, it will be hard to compete there, although not impossible. The only other popular BG is Thidranki (20-24), its the first with a moat and bridges surrounding the CK, again, it has a lot of players, but not many really stay there long. The other BGs are for the most part dead with the exception of Killaloe (15-19) which is the first time you'll be able to net realm points. All the rest are quite dead and you'll be hard pressed to find anyone to really fight there. Most people tend to try to stick it out in Killaloe until the low 20s, do the main quest line and any other aurulite farming and then hop right back to the BGs. Of course, there are some really nice storylines in SI and the catacombs to experience, although the populations there are quite dead. Even the Labrynth is a ghost town except for the few that go in to farm mobs. |

Almost Resubbed: Why I didn't

Your loss on not playing a true PvP/RvR game. You certainly won't be getting any complaints, your choice simple as that. Although your gripes seem very childish. |

thinking of returning a few quick questions.

Currently playing now after resubbing from 2 years ago. Leveling is really fast now compared to other games. For certain PvP areas you can even use the /xpoff command just so you don't level out of them too quickly. RvR is where the game is at right now. Molvik is a constant spam fest of Hibs killing Mids killing Albs. Its quite a paradise for the PvP crowd. Exploring is not a problem, many of the classic and Si zones have full camp bonuses intact. Dungeons are usually empty, although most people go in for the instances inside them to gather shards and clusters for catacombs armor, or people are inside Darkness Falls. Most of the classes have gotten a rebalancing in terms of skills, so they play out a bit easier. I play on the Classic servers, so don't have to deal with bots or TOA, and there is always some sort of RvR going on. With the easier bonuses with crafting, and loot generation, its easier than ever to customize your toon the way you want. Money isn't much of a problem either, always able to get what you need. Community is pretty mature, although you will get ganked in RvR if yer not careful. I would not roll a Vampiir currently, Hibernia is not doing well in the Relic department so your attack and magic bonuses may not be up to par. And you probably won't get into Darkness Falls as much either. Current Relic count on Classic is Alb 4, Mid 2, Hib 0. Hasn't really changed all that much. Vamp is a fun class to try, although there are plenty others to try as well. |

Numbers deifinitely increasing
Round Table Pub (General) « Dark Age of Camelot 2/07/09 6:29:32 AM
Yep, good times, I remember them well. Hiding in the tomte caves afraid to go to deep. Afraid in the tombs of Muire to go down the first hallway and yes, afraid to aggro too much in Mithra. I think that the majority of players have realized that with WAR having no PvE worth playing and not much PvP either, that true RvR is really in only one place, DAoC. I wouldn't mind trying WAR to see how bad the PvE really is, and to give it a try before it possibly fails completely. Such a shame, I would have liked to see it succeed, especially after that roman idea failed. Of course there is a whole slew of sci-fi mmos coming out soon. And apparently Warhammer 40k is one them and its not being done by EA. But I'll stay in DAoC until such a time that they don't publish anything about Origins or I get completely bored. |

Actually I went wizzy. I hate the twisting for pally's, and they kinda suck in RvR. As for the tomb, its virtually empty all the time. You usually don't leave the tutorial area until 14 or 15 and at that point you might as well go right into the battlegrounds or DF. Not many people in dungeons unless they are RvR enabled. |
|
|
Very much so. RvR with 3 realms going at it for control of relics and keeps. Battlegrounds keep you busy until you hit max level. And exp is pretty maxed out with all the camp bonuses going on in different areas, so leveling is rather quick. Good storyline, plenty of different classes and races from each realm. Some play similiar but they are not carbon copies of each other. Very competitive and numbers are going up. Classic is nice and busy, so are the other clusters. |
|

Yeah its an ongoing promotion. As for your account, who knows? |
|

Umm...DAMN! That is seriously some beautiful stuff there. Yeah, I agree with NCSoft, to hell with TR, put more money into this gem. Blows away AoC in graphics, and hopefully the PvPvE will blow away WAR (there is a third npc faction for the RvR). Add into that flying PvP, hope this game delivers. |

New player - any active guilds on classic servers?
Round Table Pub (General) « Dark Age of Camelot 2/04/09 9:59:56 PM
Mid is too cold! Roll Alb or Hib! Besides Alb has 4 relics, Mid 2 and the hippy's none. Just roll alb. |

And the RvR is alive and well. Nonstop messages about this fort or that being taken by this realm or that. The BGs are also kicking. Luckily the countryside has some nice camp bonuses, so leveling is not a problem, made 20 in a few hours of putzing around. |

Tried the free trial b4 MoM, no grouping whatsoever. Pretty graphics, but little else. Now to the point. Tried to do the trial for MoM and it seems Turbine is about as sneaky as this guy found out. They hid registry files deep in the registry that tell them whether your computer ever ran there trial before. Its not account based on CC based, but I did a search for turbine and lotro register's and found quite a few of them. Suffice to say, they are a greedy company if they care that much about limiting your free trial usage. Even WoW does not do this. Utter crap company ruining a classic story. |

Oh yeah RvR is the thing in this game. Roll a toon, and level in the battlegrounds. Thidranki and Molvik are the places to be. Most people use a /level command to actually stop leveling just for the non-stop action in Molvik. There are dungeons a plenty, even some fairly large ones that are PvP. Tons of things to explore. Albion is rich in Britain history and Camelot folklore, Midgard is the same with Norse while Hib is heavy on the Ireland tales. |
