people who think this matters need to grow up and invest their time in the real world.

Of the million "initial accounts" I would guestimate that at least a quarter were farmers. I know I saw the same damn two dozen spammers from week three of beta until the end of month one of my account. The same DAMN toons. Plus all the bots that jumped in after the second week.

You can buy a timecard OR account code from three major farm sites, CHEAPER than you can buy retail, they have plenty, AND they must have gotten a sweatheart deal on them so they can sell them cheaper than retail...  It's called business. They ALREADY spent the money on time and accounts, it will cost them nothing. They just have to make up the initial costs, if they have not already, and the rest is gravy... they won't shed a tear over a single banned account. Count on it.

16,000 is NOTHING. This is nothing more than PR. Good, bad, indifferent, it does not pay to invest any emotion in this.

Because we as players don't want it, got it now?! Screw SOE and the evil money grabbers running it. That is EXACTLY why 11 million+ play World of Warcraft and 10k play Vantard. If I feel like it in WoW, and that player who BOUGHT his turd character is pissing me off (usually by buying raid quality equipment so he can save DKP and STEAL the gear I want) I can /report his butt and Blizzard will BAN him! I am sick of people BUYING gear and characters and won't hesitate to report them, AND YES THEIR BUYING AND SELLING HAS AFFECTED ME IN GAME PERSONNALLY!

This is one of the many reasons why the Gold Selling Business shouldn't made legal by the company who developes the game.
I really cannot understand why MMO developers cannot understand why the majority of players hate RMT.
They should know better than anyone their own audiance.

Of course you will never be able to get rid of Gold Sellers or Buyers, but by making it integral part of the game, it defeat the reason of playing an RPG in the first place.
The point of an RPG is to build your character from rags to riches................if you are already rich and can buy whatever you want, where is the fun?

People who buy Gold from farmers should play Multiplayers games, where every character is already maxed and has already the best equipment, so only your skill will make the difference.................it will also save you lots of money.
Think about it.................

You obviously never play many asian market games..... 5 billion people can't be wrong... lol

Cash Shops are the way of the future of MMO... there is too much money in it for it not to be... The Japenese and American developers are just starting to see the Korean/Chinese game market strategies and how they have paid very very very well. Get used to it.

They DO NOT make games for any purpose OTHER than to make $$$, they are a business.

Definition:  "Censorship is the control of speech and other forms of human expression."

You, my troll, are very funny....  the fact they allow you to post shows that they don't censor.... the fact they make you post to a specific thread is not censorship.... it is no different than requiring a permit to assemle and protest in your local municipality.

RTM is only Detrimental (and an 'important' issue) to those of you who just "have to the the best" and feel llike you "have to earn that right".   The rest of us live in reality. We buy luxuries all the time, it's part of commerce and consumerism.

...and your arguements don't hold water when you make real world comparisons... I buy a BMW and it's unfair to you because you "worked your way up" to a Ford Explorer? I think not. ... though that is not really a "competion" example... how about, you are the Reds and I am the Yankees? That work for you?  .... you may not like it, but it is reality.

as for the post above mine.... yeah, right... I know of an entire Guild that paid for all their characters, they were reported and Nothing has been done in three years. It just doesn't pay to lose 100+ customers over one whiner. Economics rules out. And your 'not caring' about the 'evil corps' is soooo touching.... 'Mommy make him stop touching me there...'

heh, well what a lot of people fail to understand is the low poly and chunky animations are due to the engine limits, which is Unreal (the original).

That's also why you get so low fps in game with everything turned up at 1600+ res.  The game engine was just not made for that, period.

If you can get past that, it's fun, complex, and exploration intensive. (not just the landscape, you have to dig to find out how to do some things because the game tips don't really cut it. But I like that too, as it makes you ask others for help, and builds the strong community there stronger. ... 'the ties that bind' and all that...)

For the people that drone on and on about "end game", what you really should be saying is, "I am a boring person and without something new to do that someone else creates, I grow too bored to play." Those of us who role play never seem to have that issue. We create our own "content". I know it sounds harsh, and is a generalization and not always true, but overall that is what I hear.

Cheddar, cheddar goes good with that....

SOE and "greedy corp" haters, get over yourselves. Truly, you are the trolls of the MMO world. "Give us what we want, but you can't make money doing it or you are evil bastagges" ... pu-lease. Once you grow up, you will find that is how the world works, even the world of entertainment. Heck, some of the best entertainment in the world can cost you $5k/hr.  ;-P

I just started back in Vanguard a few days ago after having abysmal results with my system at the start of the game. I have played pretty much every game out there. I have beta'd most of them too, so I have a bit of perspective on what works and what doesn't. SOE blows it all the time by not advertising their games. If they actually ran a 'come back to us and see the difference' campaign like they so desperately do with SuckWG, selling mentoring, getting a few guilds involved, they would have made a better comeback than AO.

From my perspective server populations Are low, but I have yet to see any issues with finding a group, especially now mentoring is in and working. I found a great guild on day one, and haven't been bored since. All I can say is give it a try, you might love it, or you might hate it, pretty much like any other game out there.

Chat with Aasha or Thalatth in game, let them know Pielifter sent you. I am certain, based upon your description, we would be a good fit.

Pielifter of The Preferiti

7.25 hours to "official" open, about an hour after that and everyone should be happy.

meh, I was in the OB because I wanted it to be fixed for launch... so few ever are....  Was only able to play four to five hours, but reported a bunch of bugs, they were all fixed with the 1.5.05 patch. Nice going NCSoft. It was enough to get me to buy the CE and play retail....

I wonder what they've got that gives them the M rating?  Or is it simply because its guns and we will be shooting people?

Too bad the M rating wont keep the kids out....

It's the alchohol. Prohibition ruined America... It became the new sex. Or the new drugs.
Show anyone bare skinned within 1" of a sexual zone, or someone being shot up on morphine, even if they NEED it, or taking a swig of beer, and BOOM, M

Not only that, with the right MB and cooler, you can easily run 4.1-4.3ghz on air.

I've played about a week. (minus yesterday's downtime)

I have a Mage/Priest 18/15, it has never been hard. I have a full quest log. (30) I have yet to have to grind kill things at all, beyond what the quests have you do. I met a good guild, and plan on staying a while.

... the lack of flamefests on this forum. Only 13 pages of posts. The first thought I had was, either no one has heard of it, or it must be pretty decent that they are all playing instead of here.

I played it the last few days. I made three characters, got them all up to 15/15. Not very high, but always fun.

I made a fourth and attempted to get there, fell a little short, 12/15. I joined a guild and committed to a profile and voice chat. I liked everyone in the guild I spoke with either voice or text. They were polite, helpful, and not too serious, but mature enough I didn't mistake any for 11 year olds.

I will be playing it. It's not the best game I've played, but FAR better than any other free game I have tried, including emu.

If you are looking for "something" in an MMO, download it and try it Thursday.

But if you consider "go an kill 10 X mobs" and getting a big chunk of lvl xp as reward (along with the other goodies) grinding, then you're simply too lazy to play such games.

Quests at lvl 40+ is almost exclusively about dailies. Especially for your secondary class since you probably did all the (very few other) quests with your main.
Dailies in a nutshell:
- Kill mobs till you have x items. You can get different items, but there's usually one particular that's better than the rest. Which usually means kill 100+ of the very same mobs.
- Turn in your 10 quests.
- Come back tomorrow, and repeat. Or buy resets for real money and repeat today.
This IS grinding, no matter how you twist and turn it. It has nothing to do with being "lazy". It has everything to do with braindead repeats which a trained monkey could do for you.
According to your logic: if they removed every single quest, except dailies, the game would still be enjoyable, and those not liking it, would be "lazy". Personally, I would say you just lost every right to complain about shallow contents in any game, because that's exactly what you're asking for.

WAS, the operative word here... the only way WAS grinding. They have stated they have put in a lot of quests for levels 30+ that were not there just days ago, and plan on more for Live.

Motorbikes, helicopters, aeroplanes and submarines.

Amazing what greed will do to a game company.

LOL, why is it ALWAYS greed?!?!???

(rhetorical question. The answer is just as equally called jealousy.)

Why can't it possibly be stupidity or painting oneself into a corner due to bad ideas or lack of creativity or artist blurred vision?!???

Yes, these things do fit the "Warcraft/Starcraft" Universe, they were all seperate games with no real plot. So, because they sucked when it came to plot and world setting, WoW was cobbled together / "square pegged into a round hole" / and has made it big in the MMO scene.

It really should not suprise Anyone!

... and an awesome explaination there Quizzical.

I just wish they allowed you to find folks easier when you know a name... having to make meeting arrangements on a board is a pain. heh

... oh, and since the shared bank is coming, I am happy and sad... Happy because I can pass gear on to my other characters, and sad, because that is less slots per character... I am a pack rat =P

Where can you buy the special holidy items for gold?  I wasn't able to find any of them.
~Ripper

From what I heard, they show up only for the Holiday in question ... and I believe, since they are fluff items, can only be bought with crowns? (I am looking forward to St. Patrick's Day myself.)

I would suggest that if you just started getting blue screens, it is likely an air circulation issue, get some compressed air and blow out the dust bunnies from the cooling fins, ESPECIALLY from the graphics card area...

Then, if you can, use a box fan to blow across the case front to back, see if that changes anything. If not, it's likely imminent hardware failure, if it does, it'll likely be ok...  Dust can cause tempts to go up by as much as 30 C! Anything over 80 C will start to cook your chips.

Hopefully that will help. I am glad to see people enjoying the game, I might actually play it now... I have my old pre-order code for the sprint scroll and my collector's box.... never did use it.

well said.... unless of course they find sandbox chocolates, then they will be happy and quiet...

I would much rather they created their own new IP rather than use an existing IP that will cause limitations.  It's also about time they broke out of the Warcraft, Starcraft, Diablo mold.  If billions of earnings won't spur them to create a new IP nothing will.

Nothing will.   IF they make one, they will just continue WoW into WoSC, it's heading that way now, what with the Titans, robots, and space...
