The Secret World by Funcom hands down ever since the last 1.4 and 1.5 patches. Its got it all Pvp system that matters, can gear and level up entirely through pvp, 3 open world areas for pvp, 3 separate persistant pvp zines called fusang battlegroup A-C which is a lot like RvR in DAoC or colony zone in Knight online. Has a bunch of minigames, capture the flag, King of the hill.... Cabal wars/ladder every month, monthly duel tournaments with prizes Upcoming patches 1.7-1.8 will include PvP Dungeons and a new owPVP Event. Also has a lot of fun pvp missions |

The Secret World
After the last 1.4-1.5 PvP updates its probably one of the best PvP games I've ever experienced. Possibly a little too hardcore for some but has PvP missions, can level and gear up entirely through pvp, 3 persistant fusang pvp zones which is like colony zone in knight online or RvR in DAoC. Also has multiple minigames you can queue up for capture flag, king of the hill Has 3 persistant PvP areas you can fight up as raids which is really really fun. Pvp Duels monthly w/ prizes and cabal ladder pvp wars |

So I've been playing these games for the greater part of a decade as you can see below my avatar. I only play rather hardcore PvP games so I wanted to just put out MY OPINION of the best PvP games I have experienced.
1.) The Secret World 2.) Aika Online 3.) Knight Online/Empire 4.) EvE 5.) Warhammer 6.) Aion 7.) Corum Online (was fun PvP while it lasted ) 8.) Runes of Magic
I like the secret world because: TSW somehow created a sense of purpose to PvP. There are 5 faction related Pvp Buffs that people are always stiving for. PvP matters in the game and it can determine a fail or completion on regional or raid bosses. Also they tied it in greatly with the Council Of Venice PvP Lore, Underdog PvP Missions, and The lore of the 3 factions fighting against each other.
There are 3 persistant fusang battlefields which host 75 v 75 v 75 PvP very similar to DAoC RvRvR pvp (facilities with gates and turrent you have to overtake and so on) They also have 2 smaller minigames: Stonehenge which is a 5 v 5 v 5 king of the hill type minigame El Dorado which is a 10 v 10 v 10 capture the flag type of minigame Also there is Cabal Wars/Ladder and theres monthly duel competitions with prizes. They also have a Pvp Training arena with dummies you can fight and 3 open PvP zones you can fight in constantly. Patches 1.7-1.8 coming soon will add a: 1.) PvP Dungeon 2.) Open PvP world event, capture a relic and defend it with your faction. Also you can gear up and level up (Get AP/SP) completely through PvP independant of PvE if you so desire. FYI: They got lots of PvE content too if thats what your intersted in, multiple end game dungeons (8), Multiple open world dungeons aka Lairs (9), 1 Raid so far (2nd coming in 2 months), regional and world bosses as well. Also the game costs $30, no subscription, no buy to win ---------------------------
2nd I had to pick Aika bc it is entirely based on PvP. You can PvP anywhere, it has fun PvP, castle sieges are awesome (but sadly they rarely occur), Open world pvp is great and I love the relic runs and defenses. I didn't rank it number 1 bc arenas have just become a win/loss trade for tokens, castle siege rarely ever happens so in the end u just end up ganking people randomly
------------------- 3rd Knight online's colony zone is one of the most fun PvP experiences I have ever played and its castle siege I'd say the same. if your in a good allaince in KE its going to be a fantasic experience. THe problem falls if you join as a new player and try to 'catch up" its very hard to do the game is very imbalanced to get great gear, you can't solo the good bosses only large guilds can. And gear really matters in this game. Sure you can buy through the cash shop and catch up but your talking hundreds of dollars to be competitive, even at max level.

You should look at The Secret World.
I'll be honest I've played a lot of games from DAoC -> WARhammer, Anarchy Online, Age of Conan, 2 moons, EvE, aika, aion, WoW....
They are all ok but there isn't that sense of purpose to PvP. TSW somehow created a sense of purpose with their PvP. The winning factions give 1-5 buffs of domination to everyone in game on their faction.

Yeah its the same as guild wars 2 with subscriptions/game boxes sold vs active players playing.
Anyways back on topic great game, think a lot of the PvP issues pre 1.4 were dealt with. The content has really grown a lot and with more content coming very shortly with 1.6-1.8 updates the amount of endgame is going to significantly increase.
Huge community playing this game which is really nice for PvP. |

Originally posted by Amegashie Really, I'd have to disagree with you. not sure how long you've been playing but most people do not use AR in game. Perhaps you are referring to june - august 2012. I agree that during that period most people used AR to PvP but a lot has changed after the recent balanced that happened 2 months ago.
The most common pvp Weapon is blade now perhaps 30-40% of people use this. After that Hammer, AR, Blood, Shotgun are probably the next most common. Most use chaos for the ranged impairs and armor fati as an off hand weapon.
All in all the game is very well balanced. They Devs just underwent a huge balancing effort in the 1.5 patch and its been a great experience ever since.
For example lets look at the premade my cabal ran yesterday in stonehenge: 1 healer: Shotgun/Fist 2nd healer: pistol/blood 1 rDPS: AR/blood 2nd rDPS: Ele/blood 1 melee dps: blade/chaos
This is a common team make up its all about team synergies now if you don't use all the classes your team / raid is going to lose to a better functioning team. You need deadly aim, short fuse, breaching shot, cleanup, flak jacket, .... and so on.

Yeah now when you queue up to stonehenge for example if your average gear ql is 7 you will be paired with and against people of similar ql so that people on their 2nd day of playing won't be going against people with full 10.4/10.4 gear. |
|
|
I use windows 8 had similar issues. turn off DX11 and all was fixed. theres a big thread about it on main game forums. DX11 and win 8 don't work together in the game.
Otherwise no issues w/ windows 8 works great. |

Again you can see next to my name I've been playing these games for 10+ years this game has a heck of a lot more content than any other game I can think of after being out for 6 months.
Endgame though theres Lairs, Regional bosses, NYC Raid and lots of PvP options. Also they got DLC and some pretty cool investigational missions which I haven't seen in any other games. Theres also Nightmare dungeons but I agree with you after beating Polaris 100x it gets old.
But Facility, Slaughterhouse, Ankh, and Hell fallen NM are always fun especially given the difficulty in beating fac/HF. Also you should try MP them. HF is really hard most of game hasn't even done that.
The 1.6-1.8 updates are adding: 1.) An entire new map Tokyo with extension of main story line (sorta like transylvania, egypt, ...) 2.) Loads of new missions which are all on test now 3.) 3rd DLC 4.) A new world boss spawned from fragments from all regional bosses (A feat htat will take a while for any pve/endgame cabal to complete) 5.) owPVP Events, capture and protect relics around the world 6.) New Aux weapon the whip + the next aux weapon 7.) New NM Dungeon 8.) 2nd Raid

You should join up with us and watch the XP and Black Marks roll in!!! You can message me or Slashermcgirk in game (my name is Koreander). We usually push fusang hard around 8-9 pm USA Eastern.
Most people though (most good pvpers) all transfered to BG-A that is the most populated and balanced fusang so you can follow suit if you want. We all decided it woudl be best if everyone just picked a BG and all moved there so most have all moved to A. It was kinda silly having top pvpers spread out over 3 battelgroups. |

Reviews & Impressions « The Secret World 2/28/13 4:19:36 PM
Well I started playing back in August-september of 2012. Initially I felt at a disadvantage people were already full 10.4 geared and there I was at ql 1-5 greens. I found the fastest way to level up was a combination of fusang PvP (getting insane XP for your level) or doing normal dungeons. The storyline missions were very very fast xp too, also almost all missions can be repeated as can dungeons for xp. After 1 week of doing missions, normal dungeons and some PvP (which I got destroyed in lol) I was near ql10 green. I joined a PvE cabal theres lots of great cabals recruiting new players I joined Wasted Dayz which is a multifaction cabal (so anyone can join them) and they are a huge PvE cabal. I completed all the elites in a matter of 2-3 days some I pugged with randoms they weren't that much harder than normal and some my new cabal helped me with. I then spent a fun 10 hours beating the gatekeeper so I could go to nightmares. By this time I was near full ql10 blue from just doing each elite once. I had 40% of the wheel complete. I started pugging beginner NMs. I looked over the guides on unfair.co for each NM nad each boss as a DPS. I'd recommend you get AR / Shotty, AR / Pistol or Shotgun/Pistol for DPS. After doing polaris, HR, DW about 3 times each I had near full purple gear ql10.0-10.2 it was my 2nd week of playing so I was pretty amazed at how fast the gear grind is (since each boss drops ql10.0-10.2 gear, doing 3 dungeons 3x = 18 pieces of purple gear. I just need on everything lol. Anyways I learned the wait as a DPS to get into random PUG teams was long. There is a DIRE NEED FOR TANKS in PVE you can always get into Nightmares constantly so I learned the tanking role. It was actually very easy to do the first three NMs you only need about 8000 HP, 1100 AR, and 600 block. I was getting good at tanking and getting into NMs instnatly. In a matter of 3-4 more weeks of just doing Nightmares I was at full 10.4/10.4 gear (MAX GEAR). It wa sonly my 6th week playing and my ./played was around 6-7 days. I then turned my attention to PvP. I had heard bad things about PvP in this game and I had done PvP early on. I did get owned but the problem with my builds earlier when I thought more like a DPS was I would make glass cannon builds and get 1-2 hit. Now that I was used to tanking I made a build with block and defense. And I have to say it was amazing. I felt nearly invincible. I quickly acquired 10,000 kills and moved up all the leader boards rather fast. I made some good friends with the templars especailly on Daemon. Then the Raid came out. The first 2 weeks we couldn't beat it (usually the DPS fault, tanking the raid is easy you can do it in ql10.0 blues) but eventually everyone got their stuff together and now we do the raid every 3 days. Eventually we formed a PvP Cabal called Primal Instinct and recruiting some other PvPers / Endgamers and the games been fun ever since.
So what does this game have that other games dont have: 1.) Sweet graphics 2.) Healthy Population >300,000 people playing this game 3.) NO CLASSES: - This has to be one of hte best thigns for both pvp and pve. First of all there is no reason for alts in this game. You can heal one day, dps the next and tank the next. Its fun and adds more variability to gameplay. Its nice to learn new roles and experience new things in game. Its also GREAT for PvP theres OP builds because if people think something is OP they can just use it, but every build has a counter build in this game. Teamplay is grealy encouraged and this game has an amazing synergy system. - One example of synergy is that healers in PVP should not go Fist/Blood for example. Sure that may sound beneficial to the healer to have cold blooded and fist HOTS/Empowerement but its more beneficial to the team for him to go fist/shotgun (for cleanup, breach, flak jacket) or Fist/DA for (win-win, Deadly Aim). - These are things that you need to think of when you join PvP instances, and owPVP matches. 4.) Fantasic PvP experience. Early on this game sucked for PvP it had broken instances only 1 was working at a time. Population was low. - I have to say with 1.5 a lot changed, They fixed all instances now there are 3+ PvP instances (capture the flag, king of the hill, persistant Fusang (which is like colony zone in KE or DAoC RvR) - There also is cabal ladder and monthy duel contests with rewards 5.) PvE endgame - Endgame there are 8 dungeons, 1 raid, and 9 Lairs. All are endgame content. After Lairs there are regional bosses which give sick rewards but take 10+ people to kill. Coming in patch 1.7 they are adding 2nd Raid, a World boss and a new map with new missions and such. 6.) PvP content thats coming - There are two PvP contents coming that they are working on prob will be here 1.8 patch 1.) Open World PvP event, factions will need to defend relics in huge RvRvR type PvP 2.) The PvP dungeon they have been working on for a few months. Joel said its coming soon so can't wait hoepfully it will be like Tara in AO! 7.) Most of all something I look at is this is a NEW GAME. Its not like some of those games that have been out for years and will take you 5-6 months of just pure grinding to "catch up to everyone". In a matter of weeks you can be full 10.2 purples just using the random drops from nightmare mobs. The disparty between ql10.2 and ql10.4 custom gear is rather small. You also only need about 30% of your AP wheel to be a factor in PvP or PvE if you get the right skills. For PvE all the builds are online on the forums or on duffy guides so again its a very quick progression ladder. The game will continue to add content and get more dense best to get in now if thats what your looking for because in a matter of 7-8 weeks you can be fully geared and enjoying the hardcore Lairs, Raids or PvP this game has to offer.
Cost of game: $30 Add ons: Yes lots in curse Client Time it takes to get "Endgame geared": about 7-8 weeks or 6 days on the /played pending how often you play. Also I optimzied my playtime for progression I didn't do any lore, roleplay, side missions. The game has a lot in that arena too I just skipped it.

Well I guess I can put it this way I only play PvP games. From DAoC -> Aika, Knight online/empire, WOW, Rift, EVE, 2moons, Aion, ....
Anyways if I thought PvP was terrible in this game I would have left and went to a different game. One of the best features of PvP in this game is the synergies in the builds and team synergies that this game offers. The next best feature is the lack of a class system this game has one of the best balances of PvP I have ever seen. Sure gear still gives an advantage but thats nothing different than other games with levels. So while in other games if your class got nerfed gameplay kinda sucks you now are playing some crappy class that people cried about to nerf out of existance. in TSW if your skills or build get nerfed you can just change builds so you can be a mage one day then be a tank then be a healer all in the same fight.
Its really really fun system especially for PvP. I used to be a pure DPS but recently I've been healing a lot since its what is needed.
Yeah The PvPers have been asking for a lot of fixes and luckily a lot of them are coming in 1.6. PvP forums always have more posts than PvE, PVPers are just so whiny lol.
-Koreander
Also if your new to PvP and hate getting wtfpwned by people best to apply to a PvP focused cabal. 70% of all PvPers in my experience also do PvE. We do the NYC Raid 4x a week euro and usa time, we also do all nightmares, lairs. Most PvP Cabals do. |

I've been playing TSW since Sept 2012 and I don't think this thread does the PvP system justice. I am Koreander the cabal leader of Primal Instinct currently ranked top Templar PvP cabal.
The PvP in this game is actually quite good. We PvP about 70% of the day, the other 30% we do the Raids, Lairs, and Nightmare Dungeons with cabal.
A lot of the initial problems that TSW had with PvP boiled down to a system which rewarded ./afk in their persistant PvP zone. That is now dead and fixed, they also instated underdog missions to keep the tables balanced, and they added in a lowbie buff so everyone is running at least ql 10.0 gear stats in PvP. Sure the 10.4 people have an advantage but I fail to see how that is any different than other games. Also it only takes 3-6 weeks to get to max gear pending how often you play. They also fixed El Dorado the 10 v 10 v 10 PvP zone last patch so now there are loads of PvP options.
Heres the PvP content of this game straight up and honest: 1.) Fusang Persistant PvP zone: Open PvP zone with 4x objectives to capture and defend. Hosts about 75 v 75 v 75. Used to be just 1 faction holding all but with underdog missions on Battlegroup A (the main Battlegroup) all 3 factions are constnatly fighting usually its baout 30 v 30 v 30 at all times, weekends will get up to 45 for each side, templar mainly dominates BG-A but its rather balanced. On battlegroup C lumie mainly dominates it except during USA Eastern prime times when templar takes it. On Battlegroup B lumie dominates it.
2.) Stonehenge minigame - 5 v 5 v 5 king of the hill minigame
3.) El Dorado minigame - 10 v 10 v 10 capture the flag minigame
4.) Monthly Duel tournament
5.) Cabal Wars last one was 2 weeks ago, next one is in 5-6 days
6.) Fight Club - Open PvP area
Thats it, they have a PvP dungeon and open world PvP event coming soon.

Primal Instinct [TEMPLAR] PVP/Endgame Cabal Recruiting
Guild Recruitment « The Secret World 12/14/12 8:13:50 AM
Hey man,
As already stated cabals are multidimensional so all you have to be is a templar to join doesn't matter what server you are on.
ALL PvE content is multidimension so again your server doesn't matter for Nightmares or NYC Raid or regular missions/signet farming/lairs.
ALL PVP Minigames are multidimensional (Stonehenge / El Dorado) so again it doesn't matter.
Fusang PvP is pseudo multidimensional. Every 3 servers is merged into a battlegroup and that makes up Fusang PvP. Right now the majority of our PvPers are on Battlegroup A and C. That being said you can change server for $20 (of which you probably already have a $13 credit, most just got one, so only $7 to change server) to get into a different battlegroup. Also there is talk of TSW merging battlegroups so all of Fusang is multidimensional.
So in brief it doesn't matter what server you are on.

Heres my review/blurb on this game:
2 class changes at lvl 20 and 45 u can specialize, get free full resets then, 3 nations always at war. fun areas. Free to play, minimal reliance on cash shop. You can level to top level in 3 days, 27 classes, lots of skills, open pvp areas w/ bosses like colony zone in KO, Castle siege, and 2x a day wars, 3 nations, guild wars, honor system like Aion where you can become Archlord (which is still open for grabs!) That being said I just started Pandora Saga really into it. Max lvl is 55, can get 30 in first day. Easy grind, focus is on end game pvp. My in game name is Invincible, I'm on Barbatos Server in Empire Nation, my guild is very hardcore about helping new characters. They found me at lvl 10 and got me up max level and doing pvp runs w/ them and wars. Great game especially when someone helps u level. Guild Name: SOS Brigade Feel free to email me too if you are interested in playing, again great community, helpful to new players, all pvp, quick grind. -Invincible Former Guild leader of Primal Instinct Gaming Services Network 'Pking since Pong" |
