UO

Asherons Call

Horizons (now Istaria).

Ryzom.

Good games, but long, LONG past their prime.

im half tempted to give this a try as its only $10 on steam.  Firefall isnt doing it for me anymore :(

Firefall is to my mind, a better game (potentially), but Defiance is a lot of fun, right now.   Only time will tell what happens with both games.  Lets hope this next DLC is better than the last one.

Oh my dear sweet lord... And here I didn't think they could manage to dumb the game down even more...<double face palm>

In times to come, when Blizzard has managed to lose even more millions of players for WoW, will his Divine Devness, Ghostcrawler be held accountable for his crimes?...   Just make certain that he doesn't escape his trial into the past, and show up in 2004... ^^

Am I the only person who generally finds the low level armours more attractive than the absurd, drag-queen costumes you end up with at higher level in most MMO's?

It all depends on personal taste.  Play with what you like.  I personally like the eye candy in TERA, which is why all four of my level 60's are Casti females... ^^  To each their own.

Just when I think they can't get any sillier... ^^  We will have to wait and see how the game plays. But it does look entertaining.

Blizzard should have the option of having a maxed out toon at character selection, for raiders/pvper's.

And a 105 level character, for hardcore gankers and griefers.

Nah, 110 at the very least, with epic gear. Those types need all of the advantage they can get, thats why they roam around in packs, while they gank lowbies... ^^

I've not been too impressed with what I've seen of WoD so far.  It remains to be seen how it will play.

That's what you get for being a smart ass to the community manager, funny it doesn't seems you linked your post to that page.  Maybe this http://forums.firefallthegame.com/community/threads/vip-program-and-pricing.2408621/page-9 not saying your right or wrong but don't sell your shit on a lie.

Yes, I remember that one... Taunting Phobos isn't one of the brightest moves at this point... ^^  Red5 does try, and they have some VERY talented/creative people. I'm hoping that things eventually work out for them.  A studio in full production cycle is stressful enough, without having to deal with all manner of drama and other such.  Lets just hope for the best.

While MMOs cannot please everyone, what is so bad in trying to do so?

Why isn't there world peace, and never will be untill 1 human is left over?

Because the world is ruled by dangerous sociopaths?... ^^ And always has been.

MMO's are simply the latest in a long stream of game concepts.  But the current generation is becoming prohibitively expensive, and as the economic system grinds itself to pieces, will become less and less likely to be funded and created.

The future of gaming is really in the area of whats known as middle ware.  As technology and software become more refined, it should take fewer and fewer people to achieve certain goals.  But thats years (if not a decade or more) in the future.  For now, we will be seeing evolutionary, rather than revolutionary games.

What you are seeing is the typical response of a studio that has gone into siege mode.  They had to know that a lot of people would be unhappy with these changes, so they are taking the approach. "You are either with us, or against us".

While that is a private forum, and they are welcome to conduct it as they wish, there ARE consequences.  There are some legitimate questions being asked, and the CM's are less than forth coming in their responses.  Only time will tell how this turns out.

But Turbine hasn't been noted for their transparency... Look at their antics during the expansion and the closing of Asherons Call2, as just one example.

It's too early for me to make any kind of judgement on the expansion, as a whole, but there's one thing in that list of features I'm not a fan of - Boost to 90 and play instantly... Cuz lvling out of a zone before I'm even close to finished with the quests isn't fast enough.

I'm most interested in hearing about garrisons, though.

One, you don't have to use it. Two, it's a one time deal for one character. It makes perfect sense, a lot of players come back for a new expansion and they want to offer a way for new and returning players to jump right into the new expansion with one character.

Which means you end up with a lot of people, with no clue about how to play their class...Wonderful, just wonderful...<face palm>  But pretty much what I've come to expect from Ghostcrawler and his fan club.  It remains to be seen how this new expansion will actually play.

Why are all the asian mmm's getting so advanced when our western mmo's are "still" releasing tab targeting theme parks into the next year....

As with all such things, it depends on the game.  No one has a monopoly on talented/creative Dev's.  They are to be found in many parts of the world.  The problem is that the investors/suits tend to be quite risk adverse (especially these days), so they tend to stay focused on what has worked before.

Of course, what worked before, may not work nearly as well (if at all) as time passes.  Hence the endless stream of clones of World of Warcraft and other such.  Bless does look good, but until I see how it plays, and how the various game sub systems operate together, I'm reserving judgement.  The same applies to WildStar and Everquest Next.

Making it so that higher level players can't come back and see content they may have missed, seems counter productive.  But then this IS Ghostcrawler, so it wouldn't surprise me in the least.

Beside F2P, as they've said they have no plans for that, what would get you into AC2?

I remember hearing lots of people over the years say how they missed it and would play it so much if it was back, but I don't see those people. So I'm curious as to what would get people into it?

I will also mention that they've said they've increased a lot of the quest XPs in the upcoming patch which should help with the grind (they also boosted some with the last patch).

Damn little. I played AC2 at launch... Through all of the "issues" Mickysoft and Turbine had with the game. I also purchased the expansion, then watched as Turbine closed the game down.  There are many other options now.  Options I consider better.  RIP AC2.

I finally gave up on Rift (I have a level 53 rogue and level 50 warrior). I came in at launch, and played to cap twice. It wasn't a bad game, but its just not what I'm looking for right now. I went back last month and run my rogue up to 53, but the game hasn't really changed, so I uninstalled it.  But I do wish those who continue to enjoy it all the best.

I've played DP off and on during the closed and open beta. I've really tried to like it, as the combat system can be entertaining.  But the lack of polish, the endless bugs and poor design is very disappointing.  I went back at launch (or what was supposed to be launch) and the client kept crashing on start up.  Not only that, but they managed to totally break dragon aggro. In other words, the dragons (central to the game...) couldn't keep aggro at all.

Mix that in with other bugs and a client that doesn't even auto scale its resolution, and this game just isn't ready for prime time. It was obviously rushed out way too early. Its too bad, as its not a bad game (on paper).

Yes. I quite enjoy the game so far. Its FAR superior to the first version.  It remains to be seen if Yoshi P can keep up with the quality content addition, though.
If I remember right, the "reviewer" let their personal taste and PC mentality influence their so called "review".  Just going by the game dynamics and other such, it would have been a rather low score to start with. Its just another generic grinder, with some eye candy tacked on.   But rather than simply pointing these issues out, they got on their PC high horse, and rode off into the sun set on it... <face palm>
The Final Fantasy system either appeals to you, or it doesn't.  I quite enjoy the game. Yoshi P did a VERY good job in making the game enjoyable, and in keeping with what one would expect from a Final Fantasy game.  But its obviously not for everyone.

Installed it, played it for about 10 levels, 1 dungeon and maybe 3 hours and then promptly uninstalled it. I'm not an SOE fan but even this is a horrible product for SOE.

You guys do realise that SoE is just the publisher for this game right? Obviously not by all the ignorant comments being made about SoE in these forums.

The game is made by Runewalker Entertainment who made Runes of Magic.

All SoE handle are the marketing and monetisation in the US / western region.  In Europe this is being handled by Infernum. Basically its the same game.

If you have a problem with the design of the game, its Runewalkers fault, not SoEs.

Don't try to reason, there are still buckets of people around here nursing a grudge of SWG. If there is the slightest involvement by SOE in a game, these forums are all about trashing it. Leading up to EQ Next should be some serious forum pvp.

Given that while I would still like to give a Vir Cotto wave to Dear Old Smed, over the NGE, I must say that Everqest Next looks like a great deal of fun.  A game being backed by SOE, isn't a mark of death to me, but it does make me wary of it.  I tried DP, and even invested some money in it. But unless/until they improve their production/QA values, its just not worth the annoyance to me.

While I wish them the best, the beta left a seriously sour taste in my mouth.  I wonder if their QA is either really under staffed/over worked and/or really inexperienced.  The number and seriously nature of the various bugs that made it to the production client was really mind blowing to me. I bug reported all of this (and more).

First and foremost, the client didn't even auto scale its resolution to match the desk top.  That means that, in all too many cases, the game controls are off screen.  That includes the initial displays. This gives a VERY bad first impression.

Second, the lay out of the various menus (such as attribute allocation) had not been well thought out, for different resolutions. One example from the above, is that the confirm button over laps one of the ability buttons, and thus can't be activated.

Third, with the patch just before launch, they managed to create an issue, that would result in the client crashing back to the launcher, even when you had done a fresh install.

Finally, they also managed to totally break dragon aggro (the ability of dragons to hold aggro) in a game thats all about using dragons to fight with...

After all of that (and more), I finally just uninstalled the game, and went on to other things.  Its too bad, as the basic concepts of the game are interesting, and it could have turned out to have been an entertaining game.
