LFG tool has brought my WoW spirit back.

This depends on what you define as your "first MMO", heh. TECHNICALLY, EQ1 was my first MMO. I bought it when the Kunark expansion hit. However, I had a REALLY bad phone line, and had problems playing the game, and gave up after a few days. After that, however, I played Ragnarok Online as my first "full time" mmo. I had played MUDs for years with my friends and two of my roommates, and then one of the roommates ponnied up 10 bucks to try out the beta of RO, and liked it. We all kind of watched him, and then paid the 10 dollars each to get a beta account of our own. So, my MMO experience as an actual MMO player started in 2002 with Ragnarok Online. MUDs started in 1999 with Waterdeep and Artic. After RO I played Everquest for a good year, laughing at this "cartoony" game that was getting all kinds of hype (WoW) and then later moving on to EQ2 for a bit before actually giving WoW a spin and falling in love with it. I never played Guild Wars though. Sorry. |

LFG tool has brought my WoW spirit back.
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 12/14/09 9:35:20 AM
Hello everyone. Some of you will know that I am an avid soloist. I usually cannot stand grouping unless it is with someone in the same room as me. I played WoW for three years, and had just completely lost my interest. Being that I don't group, and only level/pvp, things tended to taper off once I hit level cap. Well, the LFG has totally brought new life back to the game. I can now quickly get into a group full of many people just like my self. I don't need to be afraid of "being that guy in greens that doesn't know what is going on" because half the group is that, and the other half will take what they can get. We are stuck with each other. I don't need to yell for a group for an hour to HOPE I am accepted, and I don't need to walk all the way out there, and then wait for everyone else, and then have someone leave 10 mins in and have to replace them. Now, I just queue up, get into an instance, and if someone leaves, they leave, and we quickly replace them without whispering around and waiting for them. Even better, I can actually go to some dungeuns that I have always wanted to in the old world that you would have never found a group for in that level range. No one has been in Mauridon in in years by advertising on trade/general. DM? Yeah, for boosting maybe. Stockades? Good luck. Blackfathom depths? Keep dreaming. Strathlhome? Hell no, everyone would be out in the Outlands. But now I can get in, do it, and get out. And hell, I am even running instaces with my level 80s. I feel like a DPS anchor at times depending on who is in my group, but I am now learning my character. 50% of my skills just became useful. A good chunk of my talents are now actually something that I will get rather than them being "group talents that don't help me". It is amazing. For the time being, DPS is where it is at for me, until I get coordinated a bit more, but I have also been doing some tanking at level 40 and 70. Stressful stuff, but still fun. Sorry for just rambling, but seriously. I now see that I am actually a closet grouper. I am just too lazy/antisocial to go out and find groups. But when they are finding me? Hell yes, pour them on! |

what do you think about the new 3.3 patch?
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 12/09/09 11:21:30 PM
I am an avid soloer. I have been inside an instance with an actual group (not farming for items on a lower level instance) MAYBE 6 times in the three years that I have played. Well, I just did three last night, and loved it. It was great to be able to just queue up, put in that I want to DPS, and then get teleported in. Then, when I was done, teleport out. It reminds me a lot of the public quests of WAR. No more waiting to get a group, and getting gear checked, and being told they don't need you. No more having someone in the group leave mid dungeun, and need to find a replacement. No more having it impossible to do any of the old world instances with a low level char. My level 37 waited all of 4 seconds. What I DONT like with it though, is every group I had had at least one retard. I was doing Uldaman with my 37, and a Paladin agroed several mobs, and then started the statue spawnings near the end of the instance, and wiped us. He claimed to do it on purpose, and "could not stop laughing". I was pretty pissed. We ended up finishing though. |

The next "big" thing has already released
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 12/09/09 11:13:17 PM
Dated graphics, full loot, open PvP, stealable mounts and a lack of advertising make the odds of it ever getting over 300k subs. I wish it luck though, but your theory is more like a pipe dream. |

Final Fantasy VII. But, oddly, I tried it out again a few months ago, and it just didn't seem that amazing anymore... lol. But back in the day... Oh man. |

I have not read through all the posts, so maybe this has been mentioned, but I have always wanted a practical front lines caster, with it's own twist. The way I have always seen this as working is that the caster actually WANTS to be getting hit, like a Sadist or something. You could have it the opposite of regular casting mechanics, in that instead of getting hit, and having your spell knocked back a bit, when they get hit, it speeds up the casting. Say, 20% reduction per hit. It would never make a spell instant cast, and would add an interesting dynamic in PvP. Sure, you CAN rush that Sadist with your dual wielding warrior... But do you really want to get roasted at double speed? |

EVE online was a single player game. It was called Elite. Elite then turned to Freelancer. Freelancer then turned to EVE. :P I don't think EVE would be all that amazing as a single player game. I love it for the economy, and to be honest, playing the economy game against the computer is just a big "so what" for me. |

Dogs and old people. Well... That might not be that bad actually. Spelling and puncutation are sure to improve. Rational, flowing thoughts may improve as well. |

Yes, because they are the first MMO company to do anything remotely like this... Right? And yeah, it is a HUGE gamebreaker, worth leaving the game for, right? Get real. And, while we are at it. Fanboy, or, even worse fanboi, are also played out. As is troll. Also, it is not a "theory" that they are lame and overused. It is a proven fact. |

Even if they got a whole corp together to reproduce it in an attempt to mess things up, I don't think it would make a major dent. And, they would need to spread out to make an impact, or else it would just be localized outages. Now, yes, a busted Jita would be annoying, but look back last year, and Jita was basically unusable anyway. Besides, no corp with a good size would risk perma bans for something so dumb. |

Am I missing something? Because this doesn't sound THAT bad. Not that I would ever use the "epic fail" tag, as it is played out, and just plain lame, but really? You think this is the worst of all time? When did you start playing MMO's, and how many have you tried? |

Surprise, Medal of Honor going to present day

This. People like things that they can easily relate to, and people like to invision themselves in a place and time in history. Take Battlefield 2142 for example. Crap. Hated it. Yay, laser rifles and mechs and all kinds of blah blah. Not my thing, at all. I don't want things to be over the top. I want them to be believable. There is a reason they model weapons from real weapons, vehicles from real vehicles and so on. People want to pretend they are there, and it is easy to relate to a place and time that actually happened. You also get MUCH more detail. And the story might be something that you know, but it is believable. When people start writing new stories for games, it usually turns into something very cliche, or something that you would not think could/would happen. And good god... Have you played MOH Airborne? I was loving it until I got to the giant death tower with metal nazies strapped with miniguns that could take a million sniper bullets to the brain. You can still be creative, and use real times and places. |

They could always show wars from yet another point of view too. WW2 has a lot of unexplored areas if you ask me. More african themes could be cool, with tons of tank battles. How about playing as Finland, defending from Russia? Crazy out numbered, but still "winning". Could be fun and fast paced if done correctly. Or how about playing from losing sides for once? Like playing as a French soldier. Or what about playing as an Italian? You start out fighting for one side, and switch to the other half way through. |

They need to get moving on Vietnam. I have been dying for a Vietnam fps for years, and Battlefield Vietnam does not count. Hell, most people don't eve know about it, and it was terrible. |

There needs to be more solo oriented MMOs

Add battlegrounds that you could link up with other people for PvP, and an auction hall system, and I would play it, lol. In all seriousness, you could almost get rid of the chat box. I typically only solo in MMOs, and the only reason I am drawn to MMO's is the PvP and auction halls/economy. So yeah, you COULD make a game like that, and have it sell. |

Mine too. I asked him if I could hire him to control my ship, and he said si. So, yes, there is Manuel control. Gonna cost you a trip to Home Depot and 3 bucks an hour though. He also said I could get Jesus control and Maria control for the same price. |
