Vanguard: Saga of Heroes: Producer's Letter
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 11/06/07 12:05:12 PM
Whew I am so glad I read this before purchasing this game. If I wanted another stupid dumbed down MMORPG I would play WoW. Thank god this came out so I didn't buy into the garbage. The only issues were bugs and performance issues. Not everyone wants stupid dumb down games like WoW. Alot miss the old EQ. |

Britannia Tavern (General) « Ultima Online 11/02/07 12:02:23 PM
In my opinion this is the downfall of every MMORPG. Forums for game suggestions should not exist, I am sorry. There are never any changes the players suggest that are truly for the good of the game, yet a selfish need of wanting something easier or faster. This is just selfishness or envy, and it hurts the game.
MMORPG designers should design their vision and stick with it no matter how much crying is going on the forums. If you are doing well with subscriptions then all is fine. I personally think there should be no forums other than technical/bug forums available.
Attention Devs: If you have a successful game like WoW or EQ did/does, it is because you have a successful working game model/vison. EQ ruined that MMORPG and WoW is currently ruining theirs. That is all. |

I wouldn't play WoW though unless you enjoy easy content, and as of late mainly PvP (which isn't that great to begin with in WoW). The community is very bad as well in this game for some reason. Anyhow try it and see if you like it.
Edited: The guy below me explained the trial much more accurate than I did. I still feel my other comments are true, they are only my opinions though. |

Classic Server to Kunark, Velious, Luclin, or PoP? (Poll)
Hogcaller Inn (General) « Everquest 10/27/07 11:37:55 PM
The progression server did so well you would think Sony would see there is money to be made here. Alot, alot of my friend and I would play on a server that stops at Velious ... period. There would be no need for us to play any other MMORPG untill one that comes out just like old EQ with better graphics .. but that isn't happening. Sony sell the rights for a classic server or make server options out there! |

Time conflicting with epic raiding and the solution.
MMORPG Game Concepts « Developers Corner 10/16/07 12:23:37 PM
Most all would agree they love coming together with a large group of people and killing an epic dragon. I think this was the thing that drew so much appeal to these games. I understand there should be some solo content because sometimes you can not find a group or whatnot but that should not be the emphasis of a MMORPG.
When I think back to perfect raid encounters I think back to encounters such as Onyxia in WoW, Nagy in EQ, or other giant raid bosses that are short and quick to get to but once you arrive in their lair it is of epic challenge. I think what hurts most in raiding is the dungeons that last 6 hours. I have a suggestion to throw out for game makers that has probably been thought up before. In every dungeon there should be a side door that you unlock after each boss you encounter, maybe a secret door etc etc. Say you guild raids for an hour that night to the first boss and is successful, Grats! you get your loot and access in some way to the side door to leave or you can also choose to continue on. That way the next day if you want you guys could continue on where you left off at the side door entrance or start over if you choose. I don't know how it all would work out but I think it would help allievate the feeling of having to stay in an instance.
I am not sure how it would work but I would like to think people enjoy those great encounters but are pressed for time because of real life could still enjoy them. I think WoW has done a few things to allievate the time it takes. I would also like to add I wish there was more benefits such as great xp gain from grouping in todays MMORPGs to continue to promote grouping. People really don't know what they missed out on from EQ, the ones that play WoW. Grouping was community and was great, I played WoW and yes it is a good game I will not argue, but I like somethings EQ did that WoW doesn't. Anyway adios. |

The perfect Fantasy MMO. Period FULL STOP>!

Originally posted by thorwood Great post, I like seeing what others think. I have to say though the top two things I bolded is what killed the last thing I bolded. The top two things I bolded is what attracts a bad community, alot of younger, shorter attention span players. EQ took some time and grouping with brought people together. |

More dungeons, I am excited already! |

Very cool. thanks again. |

That's cool, I was wondering where the Paladins and other hybrids fit in to things. I started to dislike WoW because of Blizz changing it to where hybrids are close to almost out performing the Prot Warrior as of late. WoW is still a blast though, I only love their dungeons. The community is bad but if you have a decent guild it isn't that bad. Thanks again. |

Awesome very kind of you for the information!
Edit: My friend was curious to what is the primary top healer in EQ2 as well. |

I am not familar with EQ2 yet but I would like to add very soon a PvP focused game is coming and looks to be something you would be interested in. That game is Warhammer Online. I may even take a shot at it even though I have never been a avid pvper. |

Hello all,
Since my last question about the game my friends and I have given the trial another shot and I appreciate the constructive post I recieved.
Any experienced EQ2 players know which class I am looking for? |

How is the raid and group game in LOTR?
General Discussion « Lord of the Rings Online 10/15/07 9:18:15 AM
Thanks guys for the responses. I am currently looking at this or EQ2. EQ2 has been out a while so it may be hard to get into but I have read that it has some great raid instances and dungeons. This is what my friends and I play for.
I am looking at LOTR as well because they keep the PvP and PvE from affecting each other. I love that! I really dislike pvp and glad it doesn't creep in on my fun. How big are the raids in LOTR? Do you get to fight some huge dragons and nasty monsters about the size of your entire screen? |

Originally posted by Netzoko Actually I have an attention span and am not a spastic child that I need instant gratification. I rather have a little realism thrown in my game and challenge. If I am hurt after a fight I should have to have my healer heal me ..or set and eat something. Not all of us are always just happy for shortcuts to cheapen our gaming experience. I play for the game not being the top level as fast as I can. |

Originally posted by NeopsychThank you for all the feedback. Well it is a trial for a reason to let me see if the game is something I would enjoy. However it has been explained better to me, even though it sounds a little silly. I read that it gets to be less and less so it isn't a complete deal breaker, but you do understand my first impressions was at low levels where it made combat trivial and my friend and I were bored quickly.
I don't like mechanics just to make my game experience easier, I like a challenge but like I said and from what I read this game has a solid raid experience and may be what I am looking for. Thanks again. You may mock the immersion thing but that is an important part of gaming for me. WoW so far is doing okay for me so I am just shopping around. WoW like you said has a horrible audience and is too easy of a game. |

Thanks! I may give it another shot. I appreciate you explaining that to me. My friend will be glad to hear the reason behind that, we were dumbfounded by what we saw. |
