To all of you that say EQ doesn't take skill I bet not one of you could make it to lvl 60 on a certain server I will not mention the name of right now. Good lord, the children complained about the original WoW untill they made it mind numbingly boring to play and it was casual to begin with.

I won't be paying money for this garbage. Diablo is about the option to LAN and NOT cash shops! I will give Torchlight II my money instead.

Community was better, that is what I think it will come down for most that played games before WoW. Actually WoW's wasn't completely horribly untill expansions were released. All the people with out an attention span and the unsocial were weeded out in the original game when it came to raiding.

I hope it does fail OR the MMORPG genre IS going to be crap. I read it's super casual garbage with the amount of content should be a single player game with a free multiplayer option online.

Everyone that buys this game and games like them that are greedy money grabs can thank themselves for this trend. Vote with your wallet people. I will be doing so, I don't buy garbage like this. Blizzard is on my don't buy list now unless they change their greedy ways. Torchlight 2 will be better and have fair pricing. Please support companies that deserve it.

I feel sorry for Avatar Creations... They will enjoy some new subs but it won't help the game to move much further, imo.

Voting with your money is the ONLY way to tell a company you don't like what they are doing. If you think other wise then you are only fooling yourself. These players seem quite smarter than the knuckleheads that play WoW who will continue to be milked while features and items that should be included with the sub is being charged extra for.

I expect the same with Diablo 3 with the anouncement of a real life auction house. The morons will buy it and give up their voice to have games without the garbage. You know what would happen if these money grabs failed? That's right, they would dissappear. Support Torchlight 2 and other game companies that have some dignity.

I don't mind a new approach as long as it is still tough in dungeons to succeed. I would hope you could still fail or even more so now if everyone is not playing smart by crowd control and using abilities to reduce damage. It has to be better than WoWs garbage face plowing through dungeons now.

Thanks for the responses. I am a little weary about playing another boring game like WoW since they ruined dungeons with the AOE fest. It sounds like there is more to it in this game though. I will probably pick the game up and see what I think.

In other news, I will sadly decline playing this new revival, as I do not agree with any expansion post Scars of Velious. If the server was locked at Kunark/Velious, I would gladly re-sub. But with every expansion eventually being unlocked, I find myself wanting to vomit.

The best kept secret in the MMO world at the moment. SOE's "try" at a classic type server is laughable. Some of us know where a gem lies between the easy garbage and virtual malls.

Really the only huge reason to care about lan is if you planned on piratting the game.

 

And yes, installing one copy of a game on 20 pcs is pirating it.

We have guy weekends where we eat junk, play LAN games. Diablo has always been a fun one. I don't like having to be online to play the game. There is no need for that. 

We can also still play Diablo at our LAN games. I don't want to have to rely on Blizzard servers to play a game I purchase with friends. What happens when the game gets old and they discontinue support of the servers? There goes the product I purchased.

That is just wrong and beside the point. Diablo is it's own IP and have it's own fans, mixing it with Wow is as smart as putting in things from Wow into Starcraft.

Loke, I usually agree with you. You probably noticed this as I did when WoW was launched. Word of Warcraft was a mix from the beginning of Warcraft lore and Diablo. I mix you are seeing is Diablo mixed with WoW but the other way around. Warcraft went from being an RTS to a fantasy RPG. 

The only reason I can think of why this was done and not World of Diablo, was because they were afraid devil being in the title would hurt sells.

The only thing stopping me from buying the game is lack of LAN support.

I actually agree with this business model. I will be playing this game if this is the case. Dungeon sales are micro-expansions to me. They are content packs. This is different than the retarded virtual stores in other games. I will pay for content .. not to play dress up or pay for virtual items.

I applaud Guild Wars 2 for their refreshing business model. I agree monthly payments make a company lazy and I agree with selling CONTENT .. not the crap current games are selling .. VIRTUAL DRESS UP. Two thumbs up.

This is why i loved my Pally in Vanilla WoW... you couldn't main heal... you couldn't main tank... but you were still useful as hell to have in a group.  You backed up the tank, you stepped in to help when the main healer was falling behind... you boost everyone in the group, and you're there to save the day.  A support class designed correctly can be amazingly satisfying.

It's ashame the WoW population couldn't grasp this concept. The current version of WoW is designed for simple minded people who don't understand what a hybrid truley is.

Since when did "casual" mean "stupid easy". I am sick of these so called "casual" game claim this title because a 4 year old could smash their face on the keyboard and win.

Only thing casual means is time contraints. To solve this, is just put the content in the game to be completed in shorter chunks. The game doesn't have to end quicker nor does it have to be designed for a drooling retard. People need to be able to login and complete some dungeons, quest, etc in a shorter amount of time.

Wonderful OP! I couldn't have said it better. I wish others would wise up. I don't really play any MMOs right now because of them becoming more and more like Walmart.
