Is this game really full of weirdo's and seedy people?
General Discussion « Second Life 1/03/08 3:43:17 AM
I've noticed that the majority of people in Second Life are non-gamers, so you see a lot of communties dedicated to things such as religion, politics, roleplay fantasies, ethnic culture, fanaticism. Instead of common goals such as reaching the highest level, going to raids with friends that you'd expect from other MMORPGs, you find people's focus primarily on trying to sell some junk they made ingame for real currency, obsessing themselves with the online communities, spending time in the casinos(I think Linden Labs got into some legal trouble and had them removed though) or "sex clubs"(please..seriously?...). Second Life is an example of a game world that has completely sold out to real world commercialism and moral values. There are sims completely dedicated to corporations, televisions shows, sexual fantasy, roleplay, whatever. I am in no way religious, but I think they might as well change the game's name to Sodom & Gomorrah Online. |

Which MMO will define 2008 for the Genre?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 1/03/08 1:22:46 AM
I think Age of Conan could appeal to many players who have steered away from MMOs in the past, especially because of it's action-oriented combat. |

You ever get the urge to play something....different ?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 1/02/08 9:35:57 PM
I get the urge to play Pong all the time. It's about as repetitious as most of these MMORPGs. |

I do not think the price will go up any time soon. One reason is that I think the limitless "supply" of the game will keep the price of any MMORPG from going up. Now if there were a limit to the number of total subscribed players a game could have, then we might see a raised fee. |

I don't know about epeening but when I played SWG I remember housing & player cities being something that brought the community together. It was a positive thing. |

BioWare MMO Star Wars Era Poll - Hypothetical
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 1/01/08 11:35:17 PM
New Order simply because it could be a new IP and also bring in fans of the movies. While KOTOR was great, the more I think about it the harder I think it would be to play a Star Wars MMO without being able to visit Coruscant, Tatooine, and Yavin IV. |

What are the chances that people won't like the Bioware/LA MMO
SWG Veteran Refuge « Star Wars Galaxies 1/01/08 6:17:47 PM
If anything will screw up the Bioware MMO it will be EA. |

Well don't forget SWG didn't have player cities until months after launch. Things can be easilly implimented as long as the core foundation of the game is there. |

"What we have here is a failure to communicate"
SWG Veteran Refuge « Star Wars Galaxies 12/30/07 3:46:50 AM
Dealing with SOE was always a struggle while trying to enjoy Star Wars Galaxies for three years. It wouldn't have been possible to enjoy those years if the community wasn't so friendly and the gameplay didn't have so much depth. Regardless of how fun SWG really was, SOE really did an amazing job at screwing the players in the community. I can't recall a single example of SOE doing something the community called for or that the game really needed. The holocrons, lack of support and updates for Jump To Lightspeed, the linear joke that was Kashyyyk, the old man/village. It was only a matter of time until SOE really did something to kill the game.
I won't be paying for another SOE product, published or produced, ever again. Maybe that's a little drastic but after seeing what little they have done with other MMOs they have acquired and the lack of interest they show their communities, I couldn't care less about SOE's future products. |

Poll: What looks likely to be your Favourite Mount?
General Discussion « Age of Conan 12/29/07 8:06:36 PM
The horse will be my mount of choice simply because speed will be necessary as a ranger. It would be nice if Funcom added a little depth to the mount system. Masters are supposedly able to build stables - it would be great if you could breed different horses, sell them, name them, give them custom armor & bridle. |
