You cant actually warp into a random direction - only to a celestial body - of which there are normally many. Going into warp is also not an instant thing, you need to achieve about 75% of your maximum velocity and also be pointing in the correct direction (to be aligned).. These two conditions are easily met in a small light ship, but in a battleship or bigger can take a Looooong time. especially when someone is opening up with a broadside on you... You can also fit warp stabilisers to combat scramblers.. but they gimp other combat aspects of your ship. If you are in a fleet you generally have lots of players who pilot 'Tacklers' - purpose fitted frigates especially for tackling larger ships to stop them running away. This is a easy place for n00b characters to fit in, to provide an essential contribution with little financial outlay, or time spent learning skills... Ill.

My character was born in 2004 - and today I went on an alliance op in a frigate.... using skills I learnt in the first 6 months of play - hell, I started the game being able to fly a frigate... I used no skills today that took me longer than a month to learn.. I was with another 30 or so people in the same type of ships. You can be usefull to a 'powerful alliance' from day 1 - if thats what you want. As for the scandal - things have never been better - war rages throughout the universe, nowhere is safe. Ill.

I said yes.
1) Is it too late to start ? Definately NO! you can end up doing one thing very well, very quickly in eve. Be it Frigate/cruiser PvP pilot, miner/refiner/hauler/missioner - the list goes on. The end game is all about being very good at lots of things and being extremely rich/influential. There is a whole alliance just for young characters that declares war on other alliances for fun - you dont need to be a 3 yr old character to take part. 2) Is the end game more of the same? - Definately NO! As you grow you can be very good at many things or continue to train for a core specialisation - I have a character which was made at go-live and he still has sooooooo much more to learn.. I view the furture of this character with as much enthusiasm as I would a newly made alt.... Illion. |

Eve is one of the only MMO's I've played where the community seems to actually enjoy it - so many others have whinners left, right and centre.
Thats always going to screw up another games voting. |

If you havent played EVE yet, then at least try it - you wont have played anything like it. I played WoW for a bit and found it boring - there is simply not enough depth to keep me interested, and the end game is too easy to get to, and the missions to do it are tedious. You will never max out in eve and if you geet bored with a particular part of the game you have been playing, then try something else - no need to re-roll - just learn other skills. You are doing yourself a great dis-service if you dont even try it - never has a game given such an adrenaline rush as eve.. and its free for 14 days... Ill. |
