Yup, there are bugs and glitches but overall the game plays fine and they are working on making it better.  Personally I would rather play this as is - with intention of it getting better - than to go back to any MMO I have played ... except pre-cu SWG.

I believe that if the silent majority of people playing and enjoying this game (aside from some of the obviously bugs needing a fix) would come to these forums and post why they like the game, etc ... the forums would be too slow to open or read.

Also dont let the people who legitimately dont like the game bug ya either.  They have legit reasons but they are not as many as those that like the game and will give it a chance to improve the obvious flaws it still has.

As these dozens of people leave the game for whatever reason they come up with, there are hundreds of thousands of others that will continue to play and convince several thousand more to try the game as well.

I really dont think this game is going to die any time soon.

It takes about 6 hours give or take some to reach level 20.  Levels 1-5 are straight up linear because you basically learn the basics of the game in those levels.  6-20ish have 2 sides ... the nightime Destiny Quests and the daytime general quests.  The Destiny Quests are linear because they are part of a story that immerses you into the world.  The general quests have some interesting story lines such as Gone with the Wine.  They are semi-linear but not really.  They are basically your normal MMO type quests.

To skip cutscenes, press F10 and look for them.  They are the last choice on one of those pages.  While you are there, look around.  You might find other things you may want to change. 

The voice acting, cringing when you create characters, movement and response are all really your own personal opinion.  The game is fine for me.  All that you listed as bad, doesnt effect me. To each his own right?

As for the no freedom nor exploration ... total BS.  That just proves to me that your 7 hours had nothing to do with lvls 20 and higher.  All you did was play Tortage.  I have explored many areas even way before my level was high enough to do anything.  I died many deaths along with some friends because we wanted to explore.  It was fun.

This game is just an MMORPG like many other games.  It has its differences like the fun combat system and the beautiful graphics, but it is also a quest driven system just like all the others.  This is not a bad thing, just dont expect the holy grail here.  Have fun and enjoy.  If this game isnt for you, have fun somewhere else.  Easy as that.

First off, I love the game.  It is great fun.

however maybe your server isnt as populated?

In every zone outside of the cities .. Wildlands, Conall's Valley, etc I have seen 3 - 5 instances.  However this has not stopped me from playing.

In the Global chat (called OOC) you can talk to anyone no matter what instance they are in.  So when we group up all we do is make sure we are in the same instance and then head out to kill whatever person(s) or thing(s) that are needed for our quest.

So sure there are instances, atleast on the server I am on, yet the game is still fun and feels very much like a MMORPG.

Funcom has revealed that it has not been able to fulfill all orders for the upcoming Age of Conan in all markets despite shipping 700,000 copies on day one, and that the Collector’s Edition has already sold out.
The total print run for the Collector’s Edition will stand at 110,000, with no additional reprints.  The Collector’s Edition may however be available at retail.


While Funcom did not release exact numbers relating to customer pre-orders, it did say in a statement that those numbers were “impressive”. Morten Larssen, VP of sales and marketing for Funcom, said of this number, “Everyone in Funcom is delighted and humbled with the historical pre-order numbers for Age of Conan. If the information we have is correct, they represent the highest pre-order number for any global launch of an original PC game, ever, including the original World of Warcraft launch.”

Funcom has stated that the inability to fulfill all orders for the game in all markets is related due to limitation in server capacity, and that more servers will be made available. In addition, the company has stated that the DirectX 10 version of the game has been delayed, and will be next available for preview in late August at the German Games Convention in Leipzig.

I guess I just expect more for my money. If Star Wars Galaxies can make a seamless no-instance world at launch (and their game world was massive, probably much bigger than conan) then Funcom could do it as well.

Well I can surely say that this game is running smooth and looking awesome. (remember NDA lifted on CB for lvls 1-13).  We were running the probable release client last night (according to Devs) and it was simply awesome.

Anyway, you have made your decision and I have made mine, but somehow I feel like I have made the RIGHT decision.

I start playing in less than 3 hours !

I didnt get a character past lvl 15 on the PvP Closed Beta.  The ganking was so bad.

Just picked my copy up about 15 mins ago.  Store Manager said I was the first to arrive :)

maybe you plan to wait, not me.  I have been playing for some time and the patchest keep getting better and better.

Once the game is live I will be having fun.  I dont care if it is better than WoW (to me it is) and I dont care if WoW remains the more popular game.  All I care about is having fun and I know from fact that I will have fun in AoC.

So all you haters and trolls ... you wont deter me!!
