Darkfall: Tasos Flambouras Dousing the Flames
News Discussion « General Discussion 8/06/10 3:07:28 PM
This. Unfortunately the devs have said the current alignment system is adequate.
So there won't be any changes in this regard which is really really unfortunate. |

This is an extreme measure for me, but I feel it is necessary. As of today I am boycotting logging into Allods until there is a proper response from gPotato. 1) We the community do not want a "fluffy" response where you hedge your bets and do not take a position on what you will actually do. 2) We want a definitive answer on measures you will take regarding the outrageous Cash Shop prices and the community's response to it. 3) We want a definitive answer on how the Fear of Death will be removed, changed or kept the same and a response to the community's reaction. (I have made a good suggestion that solves FoD and so far it is favorably received by the community.) 4) We want to know how Perfumes and other Cash Shop items won't be abused in PvP. How this game has turned from something brilliant in CB4 to a steamy pile of turd droppings is beyond belief. Our trust and faith in gPotato and Astrum Nival has taken some serious beatings ever since the patch that implemented Fear of Death and PvP flagging. I and the community need some very strong reassurances or Allods will be deleted from our hard drives. We are committed to see some changes in the right direction instead of the wrong direction or we will drop this game like a hot gPotato !! Ruined by Fear of Death and this is for real...
General Discussion « Allods Online 2/01/10 10:40:27 AM
QFT a shit ton of people are already changing gears and looking to other games instead of planning on playing Allods. Entire guilds are moving their players away. It was also a really bad move to not have PR people either prepare the fans or have someone available to answer questions since the patch. With Open Beta supposedly starting in 2 days they had better move fast on a statement or it will be too late. |

Guys, guys, OP is correct. The Fear of Death stat loss penalty is around 50 minutes at level 40. That also stacks and costs 3.5 gold to remove at that level as well. The penalty starts at level 16, but by the time you get to level 40 the FoD lasts for around 50 minutes and costs that much. Check out the Allods forums for the info. The patch notes don't tell you everything. |

Just as big an issue is that they also took away our open PvP. :( We all were having SO much fun in Allods until the latest patch. |

So I've been playing Darkfall since release and I just have to say I haven't felt these adrenaline rushes since my first days in Ultima Online back in 1999. Every time I leave one of the newbie cities I'm constantly scanning the horizon for danger. The least of my worries are NPC's. Roving bands of goblins or trolls can kill me, but I have a fair shot at escaping. A few of my typical experiences: Another time I was mining near a newbie city, minding my own business trying to get some iron ore, when BAM I get hit in the back. I get pushed up onto the top of my rock. By the time I can turn around to see who or what - My health is down to about 20%. I see who it is - a mean looking Ork riding a death pig. If he hits me again, I'm dead. I think he has buddies, but I don't even have time to look. I take off sprinting for town. Somehow I make it, don't know how, but I think he had trouble turning his pig around. He should have followed me, I had like 10% stamina left from all the mining. But my adrenaline was pumping, I had a buttload of ore. Another experience I'll tell you about is when I'm mining out in the middle of nowhere. I got the occasional traffic running by, checking me out. But they were all alliance races and pretty much left me alone. A human tapped me once, probably to make sure I wasn't macroing. If you're macroing out in the middle of nowhere and someone comes along to investigate - even if they're an alliance race I bet there's a good chance they'll kill just because you're macroing. Anyway, I'm mining and suddenly I'm surrounded by these dark looking creatures. I think they're Alfar. I stop and equip my measly newbie hammer. About 8 of them, all dressed in black armor and wearing what looks like black eyeshadow. We all just stood there, staring at each other for about 30 seconds. My heart is racing thinking, "crap I gotta fight, I'm totally surrounded, I wouldn't be able to push through all of them." -- then, just as suddenly as they appeared, they ran off. I figure they must have been Mirdain patrolling the dwarven lands. Alfar would have killed me on sight. So just wanted to give you all some of my experiences, especially from a newbie perspective because y'all will be that when you get in. Preston |

Bofis, I definitely want the youtube version. |
|

OP you are a tool. Obviously you don't even know anything about Darkfall because there are no levels. Go away. |
|
This is what it is all about. Why play a PvE game when real live people have superior A.I.? |
|
the only thing that made me laugh out of that youtube was the following comment exchange:

Haha, thanks. Only 3.5 years? Our guild has been waiting for Darkfall for 5 years. The sad thing is, there haven't been any MMO games worthy of us during that entire time. With the exception of EVE every MMO out right now makes me want to pluck my eyes out with a toothpick. |

That download is getting a little slow. If it is slow for you try FileFront: |

Cool little blurb about DF at Bakatron: And some new screenshots showing off the inventory and paperdoll: |

There are no instances in Darkfall. Everyone plays together everywhere. There may be times when you are alone though, like when you enter the final boss room in a dungeon and the door slams shut behind you locking your party in until you either kill the mob boss or you're all dead. There may also be some short load times into basements and caves, etc... The only restriction on raiding is your willingness to do it. Raiding is going to be pretty common among racial enemies and probably not so much against your own race and allied races, neighboring clans etc... All depends though, how we play in it is up to us. |

A fan did a great job on compiling stuff for a new DF video. And there are new screenshots: |
