There is is in a nice shining red envelope, you open the envelope and spend the next 3 hours installing and patching the game. You go ingame ... you type in your username and password, and you can't log in because europe isn't ready for the next 3 days!!!!!
So I needed to get that out of my system... only good thing is that you guys get all the bugs, the patches and the downtime while I just patch and wait until my time starts flawlessly ;)

the only reason the game came out 3 days late is not to see bugs. but because in Europe new games and movies traditionally come out on Fridays and in the US they cone out Tuesdays

Well said!
First, to the OP: Are you a non-native English speaker [well, writer actually] or just a slacker? If you wish to be taken seriously in the English reading world, you need to learn proper grammar. I realise that even with spell check available errors happen, but your errors are of common usage and not typos. As an example, the topic of this thread should be: "If you're a pc gamer, then you should have a good pc." Hopefully, you will learn something at the university that you are attending.
On Topic: I think Vanguard is a great example of how letting the hardware drive the software is foolish. They concentrated too much on style and not enough on substance - it may have looked great on bleeding edge pc's, but it still ran like crap, even on those same pc's. WoW and LOTRO did much better by releasing with specs that were capable of running on a "last year's" pc. Both of the MMO's that I currently play [DDO & LOTRO] run fine on my 2002 desktop - 2.2Gb Pentium 2[3?] with 1G RAM and an nVidia 4400 card. There are many other games - even some currently released like <doh! Brain fart! - the newish game from Stardock> - that play well on older, lower spec pc's. Hell, some can even be played on Macs!
The fun is in how a game plays, not how high the specs are for it nor how pretty it looks. Just like women...

vanguard is just badly programmed...should run fine on lower graphical setting on most computers. but it does not.

also does it really matter how my grammar is. you understood what i meant. anyway im kinda dyslexic when i comes to spelling

Sure there are people who can afford such easily, but a lot of us have family and there are many things of far higher priorities than buying a new gaming computer.

the initial cos is allot...but you can keep the same computer for 5-6 years with a couple updates every couple years and it will all be fine,,,

thats the beauty of a pc..it can be updated...

Actually, no I don't

If graphics were never updated, then we would still be playing MUDs or 2d games.

lol :p

people are weird....they like to pretend they are true gamers and say graphics dont matter at all..when in reality..they do matter allot...

I've played every game they've made since War2 on work laptops and $50 video cards. That is to say, whatever I had lying around.
Yes, their graphics always fit in, because they understood well before most that strong artistic style beats pixels.
I expect SC2 to be the same.

i said the games are pretty old...they can run on anything now...w3 came out in 2002

I'm not sure what the point here is. Perhaps that one whiny rant begets many more.
When people talk about PC gaming on boards like this, they think in terms of the Doom/Quake-spawned culture. People in that culture call themselves "serious PC gamers" and absolutely should update their hardware as often as possible. However, what is often missed is that this is a niche market with very narrow demographics, it has only existed for about 12 years, and it is dying out. One of Blizzard's keys to success has been consistently catering to those of us who got tired of upgrading, who are slipping out of that culture. We in turn invite friends who never were "serious PC gamers" to play with us and, hey, they can try out the games without having to go buy a new PC.
Consoles are dominating and PCs are becoming increasingly "appliance", as all technology does. The best hope for PC gaming is probably that the two continue to become increasingly the same.

To the OP...wtf, you don't PAY from your own pocket £10,000 a year, you get a grant (which you can pay back when you have a wage higher than x without interest) and since you're a uni student you should be tight for cash unless mummy and daddy are paying a lot for your stuff or you're working your butt off.
You don't need a good pc to be a pc gamer but if your pc doesnt meet the min specs and you don't have a lot of cash then consider buying a console.

i don't...in the UK we have student loans...and i chose not to get it...i do pay £10000 a year...

If you think a game needs to have great graphics to be good then you arent a true pc gamer IMO.
Second,
If you have the love for PC games then thats all you need to be a PC gamer. Hell when I first started out I had a basic stock hp computer. I played warcraft 3, red alert, WoW, and a few others. Ive upgraded my PC a lot since then but I'm still playing those same games :P...Recently added EVE to my collection.

actually...it is important....its nice to have eye candy...also a game in 2008 i expect to have good graphics...i still play will play games UO and 2D RPG from the early 90s....and love them..

Come back when you've grown up kiddo.

No offense but if you can't afford to keep an up to date computer then you can't complain about the requirements being too high. The whole gaming scene can't stop moving ahead because some people don't update their computers to play the latest and greatest.

And if people like yourself didnt equate 'the gaming scene moving ahead' with better graphics, higher requirements etc, then we wouldnt need to update our pcs so often.

WHAT...why shouldent we get some eye candy...if pc games didn't update there graphics then it will fall far behind the consoled and die...

This is happening already. PC gaming has been a dying breed for some time. Within the next generation of Consoles we will more then likely see the consoles equal if not surpass the PC in detail and cost. Then everyone will be happy. . .

im not sure about detail..but cos defiantly...as we saw with the ps3 and 360...prices where extremely high on release

$1,284.94 / 24 months = $53.54 per month for two years
The more expensive Motherboard will allow for expansion later on in the future.
This computer should be able to hold its own for quite some time and have room for upgrades.

thankyou

that is why Nvedia will change the naming system of their cards..to make it easier...

Easily is such a relative term. You are correct, I lack the knowledge these days to re-build PC's these days and I have no interest or time in doing so. When it came time to get a PC ready for AOC this weekend for my son, I went to Best Buy and spent about 1800 in total for a new box, monitor and 3 year warranty. (plus tax.
It should be good for about 2 years, but then we'll have to think about upgrading some components.
Your figures are low. The latest video card always costs 300-400 by itself, and that never accounts for fact you frequently have to buy new ram, new power supplies, new mother boards etc etc.
And then..after all that, the homebuilt PC's tend to have tons of weird compatibility problems (I base this from the countless questions posted on forums like this one from just those sorts of folks) and its just not worth my trouble to mess with it.
Someday you'll understand, free time is the most precious commodity most working adults have, and its worth really can't be measured in dollars.

buying the latest video card is only for enthusiasts...if you have a 8800 card you will be good to go till dx11 comes out...

Enlighten us, 20 year old gamer.

Some of us have to buy suits, tailor, car insurance, mortgages, etc.

We do not want to spend even more money on PC parts. But, if you have a solution, enlighten us!

actually i make all my money myself...and i also have to pay £10000 a year as i live out for uni
