What exactly do I need to buy other than the new expansion to be able to play? I know there are quite a few of them out. Do I need to get ALL of them?

Can someone give me the rundown of what exactly I need?

Also is it worth it for a newbie to start playing this game? I honestly have never touched it before.

Meh, seems ok I guess. I would rather have full item looting and no safe zones at all so I can grief people and watch them cry more because thats what I love to do. Grief, grief and then grief so more. Don't really care to be honest.

This game isn't even close to being ready for Open Beta yet alone release in Spring 2011. Thats all I'll say.

I can't think of a single other MMO that someone got halfway to level cap on Day 1 after only playing six hours. Considering there is no crafting or no auction house, this is pretty sad.

I mean, there are only 15 more levels left of game. 30 days isn't gonna last that long unless people like PvP in console/arena type form.

It's not like this game is complete rocket science ya know. I can see players that have nothing else to play getting 10-15 levels in the first day.

It's fun in a sense that it's a total gankfest.

It's boring in a sense that there's really zero point to PVP in this game.

I will say thank you to the OP for solidifying the fact that I will not waste money on this garbage. I played the beta and had mixed feelings on it, but I'm not about to drop $50 on this game.

Everywhere I hear about the Warzones, and then when people ask about open world pvp...then people say "Oh, open world PVP is confirmed". LOL, ok well then why isn't open world PVP advertised as so because Warzones sure are.

Not buying it. Yes the game looks great, yes I will buy it and play it but please don't give me the same ol "open world pvp is confirmed" speel when not only is it obviously on the back burner in Bioware's plan but I'm not totally convinced they are putting it in.

Open World PVP is way more appealing to PVP'ers than "instanced battleground" pvp which is what Warzones are. People can't stand instanced PVP, why would Bioware advertise for that and not mention or advertise about open world pvp?

Mike no i understand what you are saying and the only reason why the light bulb went off was this statement that you said:

At that point I thought that this was "out of the norm" so to speak. That's all. It just raised a flag.

So Lucasarts is still involved with the development side of the project? Are they just being "assistants" to Bioware's dev team so to speak?

Read the new review on SWTOR. It says it on the second page at the bottom.

I just read in a blog here on this site that Lucasarts has jumped ship, and no longer have ANY ties to SWTOR at all anymore. Apparently the game is now running under EA and Bioware solely. Why did this happen? I must have missed this tidbit of info as extreme as it is.

Also what is up with the space combat being featured in the game? It's space combat on rails??? Completely shutdown and linear? Seriously?

Wait I must have missed some things:

1.  Why is Lucasarts not publshing SWTOR anymore?  This is not good.  What happened?

2. Why is the space combat on rails?  Who's genius idea over at Bioware was that?

3. I like the crafting/gathering idea but this game seems more like Star Trek Online and I hated that game.  (I'm talking about the way crews are handled to perform tasks, etc)

I don't see how any new MMO they create can top WoW, and if it doesn't what will the community think? :) Should be very interesting because if the MMO fails it could definately hurt their rep a bit.

It's like if Bioware's new MMO SWTOR fails, then Dragon Age 2 is horrible for whatever reason. Bioware's rep will start to slowly dwindle if that makes any sense.

Remember: The majority of the world population as of right now are in the microwave gratification mode. They want it perfect and they want it now.

It's really amazing. I read almost every post in this thread and was amazed at how many Blizzard fanboys there truely are on these forums. You'd swear they worked for the company.

Will it be the WoW-killer? LOL, gimme a break. Blizzard and their shenanigans.

LOL alot of these things are what make EQ1 great. Compete for spawns, traning, killstealing, harsh death, travel times and twinking were great. I loved training spectres and sand giants on people in Oasis. I did that for hours and loved watching people die. Whats your point?

Given that this is SOE(and knowing their past history) how much good do you think posting on their official forums would do?  About as much as posting here does. ^^ SOE Dev's are almost as insolated and isolated as SE Dev's are.  We've seen the results of that from both companies.  Ganking and griefing serve no *useful* purpose in a game. Especially not in the modern western markets.

SOE made some mistakes, but they are still a VERY successful MMO company. Instead of trolling, how about you come up with something constructive to post.
