Actually, I think he's talking about playing with himself more than anything else... |

Umm.. Floyd is NO HKO. Floyd was super dark with their lyrics. I did notice a long time ago that Zep is fond of LOTR, it shows up many times in their lyrics. |

You guys haven't noticed that all of those games are SoE games, and the Op's name is John Smedley backwards? You guys are blind! |
|

So you're good because You can kill someone who is much lower in level than you and then run away? |

I had issues keeping interest in the game before, until I started playing the Warden class. If you wanna try out the new classes, give it a shot (it was worth what I paid for it). Rune-Keeper is pretty fun, but I don't really like caster classes. Other than that, there's no content for 1-50. |

Welcome to the site. Hopefully you can find what you're looking for. Unfortunately this site is full of flamers, trolls, and overall negative people. I've tended to have more luck at official forums making contacts and finding people who have grouped with me. |

Unlike ravanos, and like many other people here, I choose not to threaten my wife with more negative things (that's more likely to blow up in your face). I've only been married for a year, so I know I'm quite a few years behind you guys, but I might be able to add something. I try to only play my games when she's busy. Thankfully (well, not really, it drives me nuts), she works a lot and doesn't get home until much later than I do (I'm a high school teacher, so I get home rather early), so I have plenty of time before she gets home. One thing to remember is that you need open communication. If she can tell you she's pissed that you're playing a game and she wants some attention, it's a good sign. Just as good as if she can tell you it's ok to play. Just make sure you don't ignore her! When my wife gets home I always try to stop what I'm doing so we can talk a little bit. I ask her about her day, and whatnot. Then I either play, continue to work, or we watch tv together. She does the same if I work later than her (as I do during soccer season..I coach). My wife is also really into playing sports. She plays on a few rec teams and I support her in that just as much as she supports me in my habits. "Different" people can work together well, you just have to talk to each other! |

Which operating system do you use?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 10/15/08 12:20:30 PM
haha, flexibility... windows... Don't complain about lack of Flexibility in Linux until you use a real distro, not watered down Ubuntu garbage. Roll with Slack, Gentoo, or Arch and tell me there's no flexibility. |

Magus/Engineer & Marauder - Anyone else think they are underwhelming?
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 10/03/08 1:52:07 PM
I've noticed that the Engi and the Magus' pets can wreak havoc with my WH and WE if I don't watch it. It's hard to tell sometimes in the mess, but if I'm trying to kill a squishy in the back line, the pets target me and add to the dps. I don't know how they are in the upper tiers though. All I know is that I've seen a lot of Engis top the damage chart. Maruader is the mirror to the White Lion. it survives longer than the WE and is designed to help kill squishies. It can be tough to get across no-man's land though. It really requires patience, a healer who can keep up your tank, and the ability to make their ranks break with a few tanks and well placed nukes. I don't know how many times as a WP I've had to start the inital charge because no one else would! |

Sales tax starting to apply to MMO subs in US!?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 10/03/08 1:26:12 PM
I can tell none of you live in a state that makes most of its money on tourism. For all you say about taxes, there a great deal of things that taxes actually pay for. Your roads, schools, public buildings, lotteries, a number of scholarships, and a great deal of other things are paid for by your taxes. Police officers, etc. With budget cuts coming down from the top, states need to find a way to make up the difference in income. Ever wonder why you have to pay for your new vechicle tags? It's a road tax. The money goes to the upkeep of the major roads. Sales tax on a mmo really isn't a big deal. At most, as people have said, it would raise the price a few bucks. I'm ok with that. After all, I live in a state where I pay 6% or 7% on everything I buy...but I don't have a state tax to pay. If you want to hear people comlpain about taxes, talk to New Yorkers (who live in The City). They have city, state, and federal taxes they have to pay. |

Are the ex-WOW players not getting it?

I find it funny that Demz is complaining about the forums, and then doing exactly what he is complaining about. Good job trolling. |

In short, yes. There are many things people forget about. The chief example, as far as I can think of, would have to be Team Fortress. Now i've been playing TF since it came out as a quakeworld mod. Before Half-Life ever came out. TF has used the same basic maps for over ten years. 2fort5 and the well are two orignial maps. They were the most popular maps then, and they still seem to be very popular. The classes haven't changed much (aside from taking out nades and demopacks) and the core game-play is exactly the same. People still play and love TF. I can easily see this happening with WAR. Aside from the idea that there are still two capital cities that need to be implemented. They can also add content without adding levels.
Also. I've never liked the gear treadmill most games are. To me there's no point to that. But I do enjoy mindlessly killing other players in PvP, even if it's done on the same map over and over again. I really think WAR appeals to a certian market. It's a Niche game that many people overhyped and called a "wow killer." Really it's for a completely different market, one I'm proud to be a part of. |

Sweeping generalizations can be wrong. Opinions supported by fact/experience are never wrong. |

Magus is very powerful, but it's the mirror of the engineer. It has a stationary pet which supplants its dps. |

Honestly, it sounds like you don't like mmorpgs. One of the big things they offer is a sense of advancement, in order to get that, one has to start at the beginning. You'll never have crazy instant nukes at the beginning of a mmorpg. The swing speed is slow because a server (or cluster of them) is hosting anywhere from a couple of hundred, to a couple of thousand people at once. It's much different from many of the fps games (which host, at most, 64). Twitch combat does not translate to mmorpgs because of tech restrictions and because that's not what the people want. It really does sound like you want a game that isn't offered in the mmorpg genere. Good luck finding it, but if you're bored by all of the above and are too lazy to learn how to play the game effectivly, you are the definition of Generation Y. |
