I love how everyone compairs this game to Fallout.... Yes they are both post appocolyptic but the differense is Fallout has had over a decade of work in it... from Fallout to Fallout 3.

I agree with many comments on the UI, and the bugs in the game, but you are passing judgement on a game that isnt complete and is still 3+ weeks away from its ship date.    Lets try to remember that.    I too didnt like the combat system, and the constant killing NPC mobs, or running 1 of 20 or so quests...  At least they werent instanced.

Graphics could have been better, but I understand the need to cut the corners there... only so much a computer can handle.   (And dont say FO3 runs so much better on my system because... cause thats a MUCH smaller world and data is NOT transmitted over the net)

The crafting system is nice, but I see it more and more.... hundreds of options, thousands of possibilities.   Thats great, for those with NO lives.   But it is nice to see that kind of depth in a crafting system unlike other games, hey find 3 things and right click on this cool thing and POW! you have a new uber talisman!

But I wont pass final judgement on this game till I see the released version.    Right now its got potential, but 3 weeks isnt alot of time.   And its further along than other games I have seen put out by indy companies before.... need I remind you all of WWIIOL's release?

This man brought up the WWIIOL release...arrrrggggghhhhhh.

Well at least he shows he knows his stuff.

"I'M TAXIING MY WAY TO VICTORY!!!"

Eh, it's a PvP game.  It has low design/maintenance costs, so it doesn't need half a million subs to be successful.  Nothing is that broken in it.  It isn't going anywhere.

Unlike TCoS...

^^.

Why is it that some people need to argue points that no one makes? No one associated with Aion has said it wasn't like WoW after all it's a fantasy MMO and they haven't gone over board saying the graphics are some sort of break through just that they are well done.

So in addition to your points being useless and irrelevant, Pezhead you are a dumb-fuck.

+1 to dumb fuck.  Nice job, Deserttfoxx

The game is a super hero game.  The object is to be the best hero you can be.  If you can't handle that without putting the WoW map over it, it's probably not the game for you.  It uses a different style than a classic fantasy mmo.  Just learn it and play it under those aspects, and then decide if it's for you.

Re storyless: people like yourself are why others do drugs.

@ OP: Yeah, from the looks of the 20 minute demo, SWTOR will be just as addictive, if not more so.  They have proven they can write a good story.  Hell, I'd take KoTOR I and II over any of the episodes 1-3 any day.  I'd rather be addicted to the story and design of Bioware, than the grind and leveling of other games.

Makes me think of a movie qoute...  Something to do with level of survival one is willing to accept.. Oh right that was from The Matrix Revolutions.

Even though everything else was right on, your post fails because YOU QUOTED FROM MATRIX REVOLUTIONS!

The last two Matrix movies should never be cited to support an argument.  They immediately invalidate it.

There is also a charr with a gun in there.. and it appears there will be some sort of golem type class like a Warlock only you build golems instead of summoning demons to fight by your side.

Day/night cycle

Jumping (swimming is probably in there as well with the underwater area)

Great stuff.. way more than I could have hoped for in a first trailer.

The design blows Aion out of the water, much more detail and interesting level design. Can't wait!

Finally someone that picked up on the issues that I thought were of the most importance! :)

Jumping, swimming (possibly underwater!).  These are features that GW lacked, and I'm VERY glad they'll be in GW2.

I just have 1 more hope for this game.....

Higher level cap with a MUCH broader range of gear power.  That was the biggest turn-off for me about GW.  I could not find fun in getting new loot, because the only thing different about it was the TINY increase in stats or damage.  I like this to be handles more traditionally.  I love how WoW approachs it.  Gear dependancy is paramount.

no...no nononononoNONONONONO!  Keep that WoW "mah gearz pwns urz" shit out of the game.  That's one of the things that was GOOD about Guild Wars.  It was skill over time played.  No ass-hat who had elite design armor had any advantage over a guy with basic max armor.  In fact, the guy with FoW armor was most likely to get beat down in PvP.

Personally, I just hope I can still make a Mesmer.

Awesome, I'm excited for it. Everything is so full of life and the visuals are absolutely stunning, but I would expect no less from ncSOFT.

You mean Arenanet, NCsoft is the publisher for them. I know it is confusing because NCsoft makes mmos too.

Anet is a sub division of NCsoft, so essentially it is still NCsoft.

No, Anet is the game designer.  NC Soft is the publisher.  Just as Square Enix is the maker of FFXIV, and Sony Online Entertainment is the publisher.

Having suffered the beta of Fallen Earth, I think I'll give it to Earthrise.  Fallen looks like a post-apocalyptic Darkfall with crafting.

Yeah, they show the big WoW event, then Bioware comes up and says, "Oh yeah, here's a little in-game action for you," and proceeds to blow it out of the water.  Between Aion, this game, and Guild Wars 2, WoW really shows its age with the Tauren and gnome re-skins.

Eh, if you like WoW, it will be well-received.  Considering they made the game easy to work with, they can do something as big as this and have no problem.  It's what separates Blizzard as a company from the others.  It's not like it's even original, when you look at Anet's story of the dragons in GW2 over a year ago.  "A dragon legend rises from the oceans.."  Where did we hear that before? cough-legendoforr-cough.  Thing is, they are smart.  It's plenty enough till they get started on the real game, Blizzard's next big mmo.

But easy, fanbois, on the "revolutionary" claims.  This was NOT hard for them to do.  all they are doing is refreshing the war between the horde and the alliance, which has been going for, what, 5 years, now?  It isn't Rocket science to re-skin Taurens and gnomes into Wolf-whatevers and Goblins.  It'll be good, it'll make money, but please, enough with declarations of WoW dominance into the next century.  Really.

I was under the impression that GW2 was going to be a P2P MMO.

Even if it does go with a new business model I am definately interest in giving this game a try, I have played GW1 and still do on occasion when I'm looking for something to do and it's still quite fun and still looks good for it's age.

Nope.  They said in the beginning that they were sticking to the same business model as GW.  They like the idea of people being able to play the game without feeling required to play because of a sub.

You have to use the Guild Wars model.  Everyone gets to level 20 pretty quick, but it's your abilities with skills that make you a better player.

I do like how EVE is set up.  You can specialize in one skill set and max it out, becoming dominant in that niche, so that even in a corporation of vets, you can be useful, not just overpowered by everyone else.  At least, that's the way I understand it(could be way off :-) ).

After CCP's big Dust 517 announcement, this kinda looks like a foot note.  Maybe they are blowing their wad so much on Champions Online they are cutting corners.  Compared to what EVE already has, however, I'm just not sold.

And whoever said that ships moved like that in the movies/series'...no, not capital ships, which is most of what they showed.  It was like someone animated a B-52 to do a loop and go into a high-G turn.  Not very impressed.

I forget where I read it, but they said early on that the Beta chars would be wiped.  It wouldn't really be fair to have a bunch of people start the game at higher levels, would it?

An easy rule of thumb is the color of the lettering.  If you are collecting from an orange or yellow item, you will gain xp.  A white item will give no noticeable xp towards your gathering level.

The only good thing about this thread is I got to see a pretty cool free game link.  Too bad it's buried in ass-hat flames and trolls.

I might have to check it out.

I need to change my shorts.

As to having to choose games, the great thing about GW2, like the original, is you just have to buy the game.  No subs needed!

I'm just happy the art and animations have the same feel the original had, just updated.  Worth the wait, Anet!

Wait what? Community? Am I missing something here? All betas I played there was not a single person that grouped with me, nor was there any interaction between players at all (Siel)

I was on Siel server, both sides, and it was very social.  I think the good mood, as said before, is helped by the fact that there are very few bugs in the beta, and everything feels polished.  Also, there are plenty of people wanting to escape the ass-hattery of other games, and this one gives them the opportunity to start the community on the right foot.  It also helps that it's just Elyos vs Asmodians vs Balaur.  If they had open pvp servers, you might see all the assholes crawl out of the woodwork ready to gank and teabag to their hearts' content.
