ALLLLLLMOST Bought AoC Today...Is there Strong Solo?

Originally posted by sadeyx Not really into grinding per se....just that sometimes when I play, most people are at work. I usually play when servers are low. That's sorta why I like to see people around. I'm into crafting as well. I don't have a problem waiting until 40, as long as its decent... Overall, I'm into player interaction, but not being forced into it. |

Originally posted by ghoul31 Does that mean solo is strong or almost necessary up until level 20, or that you basically can't find people to group with throughout the levels? |

Yeah, that's right. I pulled out spare money and prepared to purchase the game. If you think I'm against AoC, you are incorrect. I've spent the last week reading the forums about this game; I'm not completely sold yet. So far, I've heard the following: 1. I heard about an exploiting guild (Ebonlore) where the issue has been resolved. I still don't know if Ebonlore has been banned. 2. Heard the Graphics are awe-inspiring. I should be able to run them on my system. 3. Heard there are lots of instances...everywhere, and that the areas seem empty of lots of players. 4. Heard that lots of foul-mouth kiddies, money-selling hacks, pvp gankers, and their ilk have invaded and are doing what they normally do. 5. Heard the combat system and the spellweaving are excellent, better than anything. This part excites me. 6. Heard extremely little about the crafting because no one is level 40 yet. 7. Life after level 20 is much different than its preceding levels. All in all, I'm excited about AoC, but I put aside my money. I'm just waiting to find more definitive opinions. One really big question is whether you can play the game solo. I like being in the social environment, but also like to play and survive on my own. Can anyone comment on these points or describe if solo play is viable? |

Instancing doesn't bother me... but something iseems missing...

I was just wondering, in the context of your post, if the graphics are that important. In my opinion, the graphics are the immediate draw, but not what keeps you. Seems to me that good graphics don't take a game that far. It's the mechanics of the game itself. |

Usually a new instance of a zone occurs when there is too much load (toons) in the existing instance. So, I was wondering if anyone had an idea how many toons have to be in an instanced zone before it is considered full. You can basically use some command like /who to get a count of players in the instance. Anyhow, if the count of players in a full instance is low, that would seriously affect me playing the game. I like a lot of interaction in the game. As well, I'd like to see city zones, somewhat like Guild Wars, where there is only a single instance. When I walk into a city, I expect to see lots of people about, and not a ghost town. |

After reading these forums for quite some time, I've decided that for every "game is a loser" hater, there is one "game is awesome" fanatic. Sadly, while I like this website, the fan reviews and comments pretty much suck. Basically, there's an incredible amount of close-mindedness on what...should and should not be....in an MMO. My personally? I'll probably wait to see how Age of Conan progresses after release. I'm more interested in how the community and features develop after widespread integration.
