What monsters scared you the most in all of the Mmorpg's you have played?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 3/30/08 1:59:59 AM
While this may be slightly off-topic because it is a single player RPG game, the monster (actually a human) that scared me the most was in The Elder Scrolls 4 - Oblivion. Out in the wilderness there are occasionally rundown and trashy groups of houses. There are usually inhabitants and they often look somewhat deformed i suppose?
Anyway, I was in one of the villages (called Hackdirt I believe) and the villagers seemed rather intolerant of outsiders. After speaking to them for a while, they began to speak of a "Brethren" that would deal with me if I did not leave the town. After wondering what kind of screwed up cult they were running in this town I decided to wait and sneak into the caves under all of the houses that night to look for these "Brethren." Now keep in mind that I play my game with extremely low brightness to make things more realistic. I also put the game on max difficulty and usually end my characters story upon death. It makes his life more valuable and thus I am more careful while playing. I was sneaking around the cave (my character was a stealthy one of sorts) and I stopped for a moment because I heard something. I didn't have a torch out because I didn't want to give away my position and I had a strange feeling something was nearby. I whipped a torch out, and to my suprise I saw nothing. I put it away and walked around some more until I found a fire, some bedrolls, and essentials slung about the area. I was snooping around waiting for someone to walk by not expecting me when I heard something behind me in the dark. I turned around and got my short sword out. I couldn't see very well so I moved a little to see if I could catch a glimpse of what was behind me, when I heard someone grunting. I stopped and heard footsteps. The footsteps continued for a moment and then stopped, leaving a few moments of silence. After waiting a moment I pulled out my torch and there were three hackdirt cult members standing there staring at me, each one looked relatively inbred and had eyes that were bulging and spaced too far apart. Not very tough opponents but for some reason the look just gave me the chills. Long story short, after a short (awkardly frightening) staring match I filled them full of stab wounds. The one on the left had some nice shoes. |

RvR combat and new questing concepts are definately the two aspects of WAR I look forward to the most. I also look forward to seeing orcs kick goblins around like a bunch of soccer hooligans, but thats just me. |

Hmmmm invisible wallage you say? To what extent?
Starter zones with set paths? Every zone with set paths? or should we refer to AoC as "Dynasty Warriors 6 - Hyborian Adventures"?
I was hoping this game would do well alongside WAR in order to spread the population out. Hopefully this won't jeapordize things
EDIT: ^^^^^ 100% not sarcastic |

Why they announced the DELAY after the CE release?
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 3/29/08 12:35:22 PM
Regardless here is your answer. This is Mark Jacob's response on the delay (on the other thread). Why did you announce the date now? We could have waited to announce a delay, and in doing so take advantage of the hype surrounding the of the Collector’s Edition to sell a ton of copies. However, that has never been the way we’ve done business and that is not about to change now. We’ve always told the community that when a delay was necessary we would tell them right away, and we’re doing just that. I wish I could say all other developers do this but the fact is that they don't. We did what's right for the game but delaying the release and what's right for the community by announcing it now. |

I'm sorry but if you think gore, nudity, and a mature rating will repel young players, you are wrong. If anything it will attract them in hordes due to the idea that it is something more "mature." |

I got mine from Amazon.com so hopefully they are just as reliable with PC games as they are with books. |

A lil Video chit chat about CRAFTING!
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 3/27/08 9:37:43 AM
Pretty nice ideas with the crafting. I expect they will be able to deliver a good crafting system now that they have some more time. My only gripe is that the dye is too bright and needs to be a little darker. I don't want to run up and fight a Chaos Chosen that looks like the Jolly Neon Green Giant..... of death. Good video, even though I could only hear 3/4 of the things he was saying on my laptop |

Yes, the White Lion is is obvious choice for the last High Elf class and Order pet class. They have concept art of a lion on the main page that "did" have whitelion in the filename. There also was a picture of a White Lion on thier set at one of the various presentations they have done.

DAoC was most definately not mediocre in its prime (and in its time). DAoC has been out for atleast 7 years and is fading away due to Mythics attention elsewhere.
It is rather folly to compare the sales of a game released 7 years ago when the popularity of MMOs wasn't as widespread to games that are currently functioning in todays MMO market (which has increased substantially over the last seven years). |
