Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning: Armor Set Redesigns!
News Discussion « General Discussion 8/24/09 1:31:43 PM
I never had one lag issue or DC problem or anything like that in my entire WAR experience and I played on both of the high population servers'; order on one and desto on the other and had two lvl 40s on each side so i put some time in. People that complain must be running the game on old laptops or something...the graphics were not so great so its very nice to see the improvements here. But the reason I left the game still hasnt changed, people at end game will still rather fortress farm than have some decent pvp combat. The only reason i left the game was because of the farm trains and that is it....nothing to do with lag and i dont believe i remember anyone complaining about lag either. |

Its an mmorpg...if you want a pure pvp game then try Halo or something.... |

In addition I found none of the quests to be particularly immersive, even the main quest line that I followed. The only interesting bit was a navigated flight through the Abyss. I find it odd that the initial quests are like this but I guess having played a variety of othre games over the past few years the initial quests have been amazing in comparison, (lotro for example) but i dont see the point in contining to discuss this, in fact using this forum at all because it seems any opinion anyone says comes with people insulting my mental capacity, being abusing, changing what is said and basically not understanding the principal of discuss. |

this was what put me off the game ...if you cant fill out the start area with quests then what is it like later on? most games its the other way around, you have a strong early game and not much to do at end game but this just doesnt have much to do. Yes it doesnt matter if you get a quest to kill x number or you just grind x number...but why they heck are grind quests the only things they can come up with, even runescape could do better than that. And bloodaxe if you dont like discussion then dont use forums.... |

Aion = too easy for MMO vets and too hard for MMO noobs!
General Discussion « Aion 8/15/09 3:07:03 PM
I was suprised at the small amout of quests even at low lvl....so ended up grinding a few trash to just lvl a bit and move to next area, if that is what the game is about then im already having second thoughts about it. Also I couldnt find any pvp minigames....is this a serious pvp game without any mini-games? just once zone to fight in?.....sounds very restrictive |

Yep Im totally bored and found the game very unineteresting but this is what happens when CB is just at starting/low lvl...they should have given us a bash at mid to end lvl then we would really get the feel of it and experienced more than the 'press1' 'press 2' press 1 again'.....any game is boring at early lvls....I wanted to see what the real combat/combot/fly was all about |

It would be wrong to assume that everyone that makes a small avatar is doing so to get the upper hand in pvp combat. People just have to accept that some people like to play small type characters/races. Dwaves, gnomes, imps and, of cause, in this setting, fairies, pixies and sprites. Not everyone wants to play a 6foot giant:) hmmm I forgot....peter pan |

Daemok made a few good points and in my own experiences of mmos i also see the same pattern. Lots of low to mid lvl healers about but rarely see them active at end game due to people playing their mains. but I think poster above really hit the nail on the head....its a choice between a melee healer or a nuker healer; melee= chanter and nuker=healer. I would normally go for a melee-healer as I don sometimes like to get stuck in there, espcially since my normal class is a warrior type and, for example, I had a Warrior Priest in WAR and that was fun. years and years ago I played a ranged-healer in wow and that also was fun so it is a tough one and I think i will just try them both out at beta and see, maybe do the chanter this weekend and do the cleric in open beta to test them both out....only way for sure really. one thing i do think about is that all of the debuffs that a chanter can put on someone, there is a class that can unbuff them...the cleric. In comparison you cant do anything about the direct damage of the spells and abilities from the cleric....actually thinking about it another cleric can do because they get circles of protection from elemental type attacks, which is the main attacks of a cleric. |

Originally posted by kinnslayor yeap thats very informative, thanks. It certainly makes me move more towards the cleric as one of the reason I wanted a class otehr than my normal tanky was because i was sick of getting the, 'we already got a tank,' from groups i wanted to join, so if you say the chanter buffs/debuffs dont stack it will mean a group wont really take more than one. think I will go for a cleric and just use a staff because they look more cooler :) |
|
|
im always playing tank roles, or melee of some kind, so I was looking for a support ranged class this time and it would seem that cleric is more ranged than the chanter, like poster before said, the chanter relies a lot on physical buff/debuff so that would mean more heavy orientated. SO i might consider the cleric its just i want to look cool with a staff so as long as that is an option this is a good thing....i not sure if they can use staff and i am not sure if chanter can use mace/shield because different websites list different skills, aion armour doesnt even mention it as far as i can find. |

well I am definately going to pick one of the priestly classes but i cannot decide if that will be chanter or a cleric. of cause i will get a better idea when I give the game a go but i dont think i can really do much of a comparison between them over one weekend. from what I read it seems cleric is more the healer type but the chanter is more the buff/debuff type that is fine but what I want to know is why all the youtube vids i see the chanter with a staff and the cleric with a mace/shield. According to the skill lists i have seen (http://powerwiki.na.aiononline.com/aion) they both can use staff and they both can use mace/shield. I assume they both have the same stats to focus on so I cant work out why I dont see more clerics using staves and more chanters using mace/shield? also would one of these classes be more ranged and the other more melee? do they both use chain armour? |

I would like to see more games sub like way guildwars did but I guess with the financial success of wow that just wont happen anymore, I dont mind games keeping to the industry standard but when a new game comes out the will often try to value the game based on hype, which is where we should be careful. I have to say the best game for sub, when it came out and now, is LOTRO. It was about £17 for 3 months i think and at the start £100 for life membership, I got an offer the other day for a life time memebership for abou £49 I think, crazy good price unfortnately I stopped playing that game a long time ago. One thing that puts me off playing Eve was the above average monthly sub, its not the fact its a few dollars more its just the fact I think companies should keep to an industry standard. |

Hi all, I pre-ordered and this will be my first beta event. I got the key and followed the link to the download program. Going through the program I got the confirm to download Aion (North American) version. As a EU player can I use this program, also, if i can and after the end of beta will I need to uninstall the program and download a EU version or is the NA all the same and there is no problem?

With the release of Jedi as a starter profession...

I will play a Jedi, but to be honest there isnt much of a choice is there....4 classes is a minimalist approach if you ask me |
