..I remember the graphics looking better?..hmm...
Beginners Corner « Anarchy Online 7/28/08 4:45:10 PM
Make sure that before you log into the game, at the log-in screen, in settings that you are on the right drivers. I'd go with the standard 3d one. I had the same issue. I went with my card drivers andit made the date graphics look even MORE HORRIBLE. I went wit the crappy, old school drivers on the drop down list and all is well. I can't wait for the graphics engine overhaul, but we'll see when it actually comes out. |

Yeah, that's too bad. I hadn't heard of the game even existing until rather recently. It's too bad I missed its better times. Looks like another ghost of MMOs past. |

If I have nothing better to do. Hahahah! I actually play games sometimes because it's a release, for fun, not for lack of real life responsibilities or obligations. Looks like I'll pass on it. |

I live in the States, very few people I know have actually even heard of this game. I'm a huge sci-fi fan and can overlook the dated graphics if it has depth. Would you recommend this game? Please, only reply if you have played it. I'd like to hear why or why not. |

The whole Asian style item shop is so unappealing to me. Maybe some like it, but I have yet to see a game that isn't painfully mediocre or lame in some way when they use that approach. I'd rather play a subscription than use those ridiculous item shops. Maybe its popular in the Asian market, I don't see it being very effective here. What crap. |

I played a trial of this game and it was awful. I've played many MMOs and have been PC gaming for years. It is one of the most simplistic, cookie cutter, and shallow games I've seen in a while. Honestly, I would not play it for free. I am rarely so harsh about games but it really was terrible. The land combat is bottom of the barrel garbage. Granted, there are *some* elements of the ship combat that are interesting, but hardly enough to rescue an entire game. An MMO is supposed to immerse you and to make you want to play it for several hours. A positive here and there is not enough to pull this one out of the trash heap. Pure crap. |

This is definitely NOT a 5 year anniversary. It continues to boggle my mind that they have chosen to hold onto this garbage CU. If they had even the tiniest measure of business sense, they'd bring back the pre-cu product. I can guarantee their subscription numbers would quadruple within a month. They are pathetic imbeciles and worthy of being crapped upon daily. In real life.
Get a clue, SOE! If they haven't gotten it by now, they obviously never will. Whoever runs this company should be shot in the sack with a taser. |

EverQuest II: Vivox Voice Chat on EQII Test Server
News Discussion « General Discussion 7/01/08 3:26:41 PM
I feel like I am reading some of these replies in the year 1998.
Voice chat is already an integral part of MMO'ing. I've been in MANY games and we always use Ventrilo if there's no in-game voice function. Will it replace text? Yes. It already has. I'm not sure who you've been playing with (or where). People use text for random small talk in guild chat, selling, question asking, or in other channels, but voice chat is where the bulk of communication remains in most communities. |

I logged in and began fist punching mobs, which appears to be the only attack until you get a weapon. I could not damage anything and they could not damage me. At one point I got about 50 mobs into a group and they all sat there pounding on me, I took no damage, and I did no damage. I can appreciate and respect the small-time grass roots effort behind this game, but is this normal for this project? Was it a bug that I couldn't even affect or be affected by the zombies/bandits/etc. In fact, half the time I tried to attack mobs they would just run as fast as they could even tho I wasn't doing any damage. I am not sure how you can even get past the bodies that float up and down into the air and into the earth, the hitting jump and flying 50 feet, the severe jaggies and 1999 graphics if you can't even interact with the world. Oh well. I guess I'm going to have to uninstall it. I doubt they will be able to garner much support for this product being that it is 2008 and people tend to like modern graphics, but even those of us who are willing to take the plunge are apparently jacked.
POLL: HAHA, I was typing in other choices that were more realistic and not so extreme, but it won't let me edit it. |

Sure, any kind of open system like that is going to have "incidents" but it's like having freedom in the real world -- you get a lot of good for a little bad. I vastly prefer the more mature setting that is less Donkey Kingish /arcade style (WOW). |

I realize it is a beta but I thought it was painfully mediocre. I give them credit for trying to throw in "new" ideas like DNA, but it's just not very appealing to me either visually or gameplay wise. |

I was really looking forward to checking this one out but unfortunately I live in North America. I was disappointed when I heard a while back it wasn't making it. I guess i am going to go cry in my iron lung. |

Originally posted by MarL I know. If it's completely retarded like it takes 100 dollars to buy imaginary currency to buy gear that isn't garbage, I won't touch it. I guess I'll just hope for the best and be glad they are making it to North America. |

Hey all,
Having not played the original version, I really liked some of the ideas thrown around in the dev diary from a couple of months ago.
I hope we can get another update soon so that we can gather up a little interest for this title. To be honest, I was totally unaware about it when it came out the first time and there are a lot of people looking for a more thinking man's MMO (ie not WOW).
It looks like they are using this site until they get their own up to par and filled with a new layout.
Anyone else out there looking forward to this one? |
