Haven't seen a limit on characters really. You can make as many as you want... atleast I could ;).

Some people fail at reading... DAILY MAINTENCE mate!

Played CB and OB and the game's way more polished then when I first played it, lots of things have been fixed, almost no bugs at all to be seen at all in the first zones. Healthy number of players online atleast on Dequinerol, PvP international (also known as the beta server, the whole community's still there ). But we could always use new people, fresh faces so I suggest you give the trial a chance. It's worth it ;).

Latest news from official website:

Gandraor becomes Grey !

Wednesday, 03. December 2008 :: Grey

Greetings to all!

After some internal discussions, I officially announce on these boards that, as of today Wednesday 3rd of December 2008, I will not post under the name “Gandraor” anymore as Community Manager at Spellborn N.V. (The Chronicles of Spellborn). It is the property of Blizzard Entertainment, thus I have to stop using it. From now on, I will use a new nickname: ‘Grey’ , Community Manager for the French communities of The Chronicles of Spellborn.

Grey
Community Manager, French
The Chronicles of Spellborn

-----------------------------------------

What I'm trying to say is where is the freaking information about the launch that was supposed to happen today? All they had was this awesome piece of news. Looks like the game is dead even before it started.

Hey, "Grey"! How about you concentrate less on your name and more on doing your job?

The game launched perfectly and as soon as maintence ends I'll be playing. You can now make trial accounts as well ;).

PvP servers have PvP enabled everywhere except in the starterzones and in cities. PvE servers have PvP enabled in specific areas as caves where people gather resources and ofc in the Arena on Quaterstone. PvP is mostfly FFA I though... not sure about that.

... it looks crap idd :p

Guild Wars & Spellborn (closed beta) :)

You can add to the list that they do not have GMs in game, no way to contact them if your character gets stuck for example, can as well reroll then.

In fact they do not have even a way to create a ticket in game, you have to contact support through some 3rd party site. That's like worse than AoC in my book.

/stuck is in the game mate...

Ran game in open&closed beta with this rig: 2x1.6Ghz, 1Gb, ATI Radeon X1400 Mobility,OS: XP. And it ran ok on medium/low, although I'd advise a little higher if you want to be save.

Am I the only one wondering why they can't make it F2P with ingame advertisement?... Exteel & Dungeon Runners are F2P and they run fine, decent population playing the game with quite a number of advertisements in Exteel. RGTR is a futuristic game, so advertisements won't really do any damage to it...

... Seems like I pressed ENTER to early :p so the poll's messed up & can't edit >_<

Hi Tachyon

my laptop ran the open beta without problems, it's the installation of the boxed game which at the moment sucks. Still trying to get it to install and patch properly...

I ran open & closed beta with this setup: 2x1.6Ghz, 1gb RAM, ATI Radeon XT1400... worked fine ;).

Shall we place some bets? ;D

+- 25gb here

Well, this used to be a Triple A 'upcoming' MMO a year or so ago. Something happened along development (hopefully some fanboy can come along and explain). So this game went from a Triple A -> to 'Darkfall' level.

Latest trailer is proof of it. Thats why the hype just died. No one knew when this game was coming out and stopped following it a long time ago. Back then even I was hyped for this game.

Its concepts do sound interesting however and I look forward to the trial. Checking out that vid.

That trailer is a hoax... it's not even listed on their official website. Someone wants to bring this game down, but won't keep me away from it. If you want an innovative and actualy working (read as not broken whole the freaking time) then get this one.

Yeh... I just read it on the website. Sucks to hear that I can't play till the 5th... I was really counting on it. Anyway, I hope they learn from their mistakes. The game is nicely designed, plays smooth and is extremely fn (played closed&open beta).

Yeh they put GG in it ... ah well it's better than nothing I suppose anyway the patch to the newest version are only minor tweaks so nothing huge.

Spellborn ofc

Yeh gj Acclaim (/sarcasm)... it's sad ...

As a side note, I really enjoyed TCoS.  Unfortunately, I don't have time to do a lengthy thread on it at the moment, so the short version will have to suffice:

-I found combat fun.  The skill deck system is a welcome change to mmorpg combat and actually requires some real strategy (similar but better than Guild Wars) before many fights.

-Graphics were very nice on my computer.  Some people had issues.

-I liked that it was a flash back to the old days when nobody held your hand with logs and tomes of knowledge and such to make the quests and gameplay "dumbed down."  Many in CB did not like this as they couldn't get over having to actually read quest dialog and couldn't find anything without a big red X on their objective.

-I did not like the VERY linear quest grind / themepark aspect of the game.

-I did not like that many of the mobs essentially looked the same as you levelled.  They just got bigger and more difficult.

I really enjoyed what you said here seems like a game i would play for a month and then throw to the side. Which to me is worth the 65 bucks for the game just not what an MMO should do. I would love to read a more formal write up on your thoughts. One with some cool stories please as I feel those do the best justice in explaining a game.

I don't see why only one's thought would prevent you from buying it... it's a great game and I can recommand it to anyone who likes:

- innovative quests

- wicked combat & PvP

- spectacular graphics

- great lore

Spellborn nv is a small studio compared to studios like Mythic or Funcom but they surely managed to deliver a better product.

I'm a closed beta tester myself as well and I can say I very much enjoyed playing this game. It's ready to be released and it's very polished especially in the early stages of the game, still small issues later on but nothing game or fun breaking.

Quests were fun and required actual reading skills, haha ! It might be a bit linear as the person above said but I for one didn't really see it as an issue. The quests were unique enough to continue on playing. The only  "grind" (if you can call it grind) is questing and not endlessly slaying silly mobs in order to gain XP.

The game will release the 27th globally ;).
