Just try and see if you 2 can play on the US servers, I know of a japense release & korean as well (upcoming) so might still take a while however.

Asian release is on the way although I'm sure you can already play using the American version ;).

Well, it seems that the European servers are closed, and any remaining players are being transfered to the Acclaim(US) servers. With the original company bankrupt, things are not looking too good.  Supposedly there are new people in Korea working on the game, but given that this is Acclaim... Its too bad this didn't work out better.  Anyone have any details on the "re development" thats supposed to be in process?

Acclaim pretty much owns this game now. No company in Korea is messing with it or working on it. Spellborn NV actually is still in development of this game for the upcomming push to F2P, but the parent company of Spellborn NV has went bankrupt and is no longer staffed on that side of things. Therefore several people that you may have talked to on EU forums are now gone. Acclaim really needs to step forward and just purchase the full developer rights so they can control every aspect. Because as of right now, there is a stop in any sort of news regarding the transition to F2P.

Spellborn NV controls the rights to the game but has an agreement with Frogster so Frogster Asia can "redevelop" the game into a F2P MMORPG.

TCoS

Although a great game, the company that made it is bankrupt and there gonna re-release it in 2010 as a f2p game but until then the game won't have any patches or anything.

Sadly enough thats true...

TCoS

All remaining Euros are fed up with the entire situation and all prominent guilds have quit the game and moved... sad but true. Barely anyone will come over.

If you have a subscription you can get beyond silly...

Add in a clone feature and your game's there. The ability to clone your character at any time will allow you to skip the "baby-phase" and "teen-phase" and go straight to being an adult.

Servers aren't dead on either side of the game, if you're Euro then you playing on the US servers would make no sense unless you play on hours that are "abnormal" for EU players. If you're US then you shouldn't play on the Euro servers...

You can play on whatever server you like mate, the IP block is off!?

Give it a bit for updated driver releases that provide more support and perfromance as well as server side patches to increase stability for OS. This game is built around the Unreal3 Engine so there are a lot of visualation tweaks you can perform manually on your end.

Its not built around the Unreal 3 engine but the 2.5 engine... quite a difference

Nobody knows but there is a high chance they are in US. I've played many games whose servers were in UK or france and never had as high lag as acclaim servers.

The Acclaim servers are located in the United States from what I know. The international servers are located in The Hague (The Netherlands) so you'll have quite awesome ping there. --> https://eu-players.tcos.com/

I have been following TCoS for years now and only gave up on the game when the ip locks were announced.

From what I understood at the time, the Benelux and Scandinavia would be separate from the rest of the world, which is simply not a big enough population to sustain any niche mmo. And which would no longer allow me to play with international guilds.

So my question is: Is there a way now to legally (no proxys) play on an international server as a Benelux player?

Your question confuses me. It has always been possible to play the international servers as a Benelux player without proxies. It is now, since Acclaims open beta, for everyone possible to play the international servers.

The whole thing with IP blocking confused everyone and made everyone pretty upset messing up the initial launch of the game in several countries in Europe. Nevertheless we'd like to welcome you on the international (also known as the EU) servers via: https://eu-players.tcos.com/ !

If you want an unique character in a great MMO go play Spellborn instead of Aion in Korean.

Good to hear you like it ;), I'm resubbing to the euro client soonish when I get a new PC (the old one didn't run it all too well ;D). As ex-CB player I'm more than happy to hear that the game somewhat launched in the rest of the world (or a bit of it atleast). What server did you play on Vesavius?

Umm, I think you downloaded the wrong thing!

Acclaim hands out beta keys but not directly when you register, cuz it'd be an open beta then. You just downloaded the EURO-version which is already released in some European countries and used your Acclaim login on it... which obviously doesn't work.

If you'd like to play do like the guy above me said and proxy... which can get you banned, ofc or just wait for Acclaim to give you a key to play in the closed beta test.

UK, US, ... release date is currently unannounced but from what I've heard its likely to be released in January.
