Toxilium,

Honesty, in your experience from raiding in WoTLK (and BC/Vanilla if you did), how much has the PvE scale changed? Are dungeons going to be still challeging even when people are out of noob greens? (I guess I'm asking on bare mechanics and requirement of attention from each group member...how hard is it)

I'm really looking forward to the approach requiring more CC. And, dungeons requiring more attention from each individual group member (aka: healer can't go AFK for 15 minutes, can't lose a DPS, etc.)

I want a *real* PvE challenge back, aside from the endless raiding scheme Blizzard has been using for years.

1. Yes and yes. Vanilla is still hardest, easily. WotLK is easiest, by far. I'd say Cataclysm in beta right now is about in between WotLK and TBC for difficulty. IN reality, it depends on your instance. Some require more crowd control (and thus more like vanilla) than others. Greens will make it difficult. It will be easy, but nothing on the scale of WotLK.

This is a very intelligent, comprehensive guide for becoming awesome at PvP.

What a stupid idea.

Why would Blizzard be behind hacking your account? That costs them money to pay the customer support people as well as the "investigators" who actually do the research into your hack case. The bad publicity of all this hacking certainly isn't helping their sales either.

Blizzard hasn't stated anywhere whether or not you will be able to race change to the Worgen or Goblin races on Cataclysm's release. Stop this pointless speculation and just wait for an official announcement.

If they do allow you to change, you will not get an achievement for being the first level 85.

The new profession, Archaeology, will bring back world PvP.

This. Also gonna add in (I am in the beta btw) that more classic leveling in general is bringing back world PvP...at least in beta.

Nice, stick this please mods!

Use Muffin's vids (linked) for the old zone section.

Me again...

.... with another couple of quick questions:

1. Any updates on Shadowfang Keep heroic? Have you tried the new classic heroics? If so, what're they like, and how does the loot differ from the original?

2. What does the new Azshara look like? Blizzard hosted an interview on it, and it looked really good. Whats the player perspective on it?

3. Which races look more fun to play? Goblin or Worgen? What would you rate their starting areas?

And 4. Does the Troll starting area look ok?

Zillen

Sunwell Plateau Rules.

1. They're not released yet, nor will be until a patch (I'm 75% sure on that one).

2. Take the old Azshara, raise the tide level by about 20 meters, and add a giant goblin fortress in the middle of the bay. It looks like an old English coastal fort, but Goblin themed with roads and a GIGANTIC goblin cannon at the front of it pointing towards the ocean. Azshara now looks much more inviting from a questing standpoint, instead of the current deserted woodland it is.

3. Worgen = lore. Goblin = stupid fun stuff (ala explosions). I enjoyed Worgen more at the start, then it deteriorated. The opposite can be said for the Goblin. It was boring at the start and a few levels in gets funner. The goblin zones keep changing and shifting, so it's hard to rate them all, but easily an 8/10 for each. The worgen zone is gorgeous, and looks more haunted than any zone in-game currently.

4. Yes. Not as good as Worgen or Goblin, but polished. No where near as much phasing. It's more like a classic starting zone thats...new.

Ok, here goes: what feature/s or lack of are you most disappointed about?

Lower talent points, it gives a smaller sense of accomplishment whilst leveling than before. Also wish they added a ton more incentive to world PvP.

Yeah, first thing on logging into the beta I noticed was the completely new (and much better) soundtrack. If only Bear McCreary would do the OST, i'd be omgawesome.

Question:

What is the minimum level to learn cata profession recipes?

For BC you had to level the classic professions to the max (300/300).

For WOTLK you had to level 25 points below the max (350/375 was enough).

What do I need to get new recipes in Cata? 450? 425?

I'm not sure. I'd assume 425 or 450, like you said.

Another quick question.

Blizzards been claiming for a while that they didnt like the Talent Trees anymore, so they were gonna drastically reduce the points available and change many abilities from passive to more "practical" or in-the-field abilities.

1. Are the talent trees operational yet, and if so, what are the changes looking like? Are they looking better or worse?

And 2. What does the dk talent trees look like? They said theyd be doing some rather big revamps to the dk trees, how are they looking?

1. Don't know about better or worse, as I have not done any heavy leveling nor heavy raiding. Just different. They did reduce the amount of talents. You get a point every 2 levels now instead of every level. You also have to specialise in one tree (meaning you can only spend points in that one tree) until your specialisation is maxed, or you purchase a dual spec. I think this was done to allow new players to focus more on their class, or role (for example, your a shadow priest? stay a shadow priest, as your healing abilities would suck in dungeons).

2. Like the other trees, you have to specialise in a particular tree. When you specialise in a tree, you earn passives that are only available to your tree specialisation. For example, only Frost DKs can get Frost Strike. Only Blood DK's can get Heart Strike. So on and so forth. My DK is a blood spec for tanking, and is still quite fun. Granted I have far less talents to work with (at 85 you only have 31 talents available) , but they're still fun to play. I find a lot less "baddies" now as it's much harder to make a completely gimped spec with only 31 talents.

I always did find it funny that they suspend accounts after they were hacked.  Doesn't make much sense to me.

Agreed.  And foolish of them since I'm a guild leader and there is a new MMO on the horizon.

Foolish of you for not doing research. This is a commonplace email. They send it on the suspicion (or outright reporting of/or accusation of) a hacked account. It's to stop the potential threat from doing anymore damage, and see if you're telling the truth. When I called support about a hacked account in May, the CSR said they get tons of reports of hacks, and has had to deal with a number of them being fake; the reports come from hackers themselves trying to get into an account or people trying to faux Blizzard into a free authenticator or gear.

Well i have a question i really need answered due to a know it all friend of mine who claims he was in beta but left because he claimed combat was broken, talent trees arent fully finished yet, and at 85 certain classes are too OP and can 2 shot any other class. I am in beta (still updating launcher) but is any of that true?

Your friend sounds like he sucks, to be frank. The 85 zones have the same degree of difficulty as your first time in Northend or Outland. Talent trees are still being tweaked, Blizzard has said this NUMEROUS times. Also, a level 80 can two-shot a level 75, so the last remark seams reasonable. I don't gank :3

Without giving out any spoilers how are the new raids? Are they significantly better than WotLK ones or kind of the same? And finally does CC matter in raids again or only in the dungeons?

1. The raids all feel the same to me now, including vanilla. It's just the way WoW's tank/healer/DPS mechanics work. They are certainly pretty though. I haven't played much of the raids, as you can guess, not a lot of people bothered leveling to 85. Most are still 80 and just flying around exploring. From what I can understand, the Skywall raid isn't in game yet, or I just can't find the damn thing.

2. Both.

Ya thats why people will be come more carefully and what not when coming to buy games Need for SPEED World just went free to play and they screwed over the paying custmers with trying to give a 7 day rental after they paid, and the game is as new as APB .

What is sad both games have EA's name  on them so be wared with EA/s name/. I,m done buying any game with EA,s name on them.

Other than the Need for Speed World fiasco, I kind of support E...oh just read my damn post above.

Last time i checked they didnt give refunds for fury, auto assault, AC2, and many other  closed mmos.

At the very least NCSoft gave us Tabula Rasa and I believe Auto Assault users some game time to their other games. Something is better than nothing. Personally, I'd like a signed copy of Crackdown ported for my PC signed by Dave I-Screwed-Up himself.

I made the same mistake, purchasing it at release.  I figured the game was going to be in trouble after playing it for a few hours.  Yes, very surprising it died this quick though.  Message to Devs - of course you can say you didn't have 'time' to shape it into the game you wanted, but then the simple question is why was it released in an uncompleted state then?  Is that a factor of the publisher pressuring you to release?  If that's the case, then publishers should be aware of the repercussions of releasing an unfinished game.

Overall though, I'll agree with nearly everyone here.  This was not surprising.

EA is notorious for releasing games unfinished. Look at the last 2 NFS games. They had many problems on release and probably still have issues (duno cuz I don't buy many ea games anymore cuz of said stupidity)

Do your research. Electronic Arts had nothing to do with APB other than that viral "Human Avatar" advertising campaign and organizing what stores got boxes. It's the same relationship Valve and EA have. EA just makes the boxes and ships them. RTW self-developed and published.

It's a bit strange to think that Electronic Arts is the shining apple in the all the muck of game devs the past years. Valve hasn't done anything notable since L4D2 (and even that was a rehash of L4D1). Activision is greedy like nothing else. Ubisoft loves the Internet in singleplayer. Blizzard milks money from morons. Don't get me wrong, EA is bad for their horrible download manager thing and some DRM issues, but they're reletively clean compared to other companies recently.

I bought the game for $50 3 days before release just to play with a friend. What a blast we had the first week. I never touched it again after those 7 days. I'm mad because the game was terrible, the only reason I played those days was because me and my friend were drunk almoost every night we played. I'm glad because a bad game deserves to die.

Stop saying this had potential. It didn't. It's no more deep than GTAIV's multiplayer or even CoD. They should have gone the Global Agenda way and go F2P. It was horrible in beta, it got worse by launch. There was never any promise to be had.

Oh yeah, and what happens to those with the Exploration achieves from Vanilla world? Do they keep achieves, or do they have to reexplore new areas all over again? Im thinking of doing classic explorer achieves, and I dotn want to get kicked back to square one in November.

You keep the achievements. If you complete them in Catacysm again, you get another one called "Surveying the Damage." If you complete your Explorer in Cataclysm, you get the same achievement as in classic. Personally, it's cooler to get the achiev now than in Cata, as you can look at the dates of your achievements and see it is pre-Cata, just for nostalgia.
