I'm in the Cataclysm Beta: Ask me Anything
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 9/25/10 10:22:55 PM
Originally posted by Nihsnek 1. Yes and yes. Vanilla is still hardest, easily. WotLK is easiest, by far. I'd say Cataclysm in beta right now is about in between WotLK and TBC for difficulty. IN reality, it depends on your instance. Some require more crowd control (and thus more like vanilla) than others. Greens will make it difficult. It will be easy, but nothing on the scale of WotLK. |

are blizzard behind hacked accounts???
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 9/23/10 12:33:23 AM
What a stupid idea. Why would Blizzard be behind hacking your account? That costs them money to pay the customer support people as well as the "investigators" who actually do the research into your hack case. The bad publicity of all this hacking certainly isn't helping their sales either. |

Blizzard hasn't stated anywhere whether or not you will be able to race change to the Worgen or Goblin races on Cataclysm's release. Stop this pointless speculation and just wait for an official announcement. If they do allow you to change, you will not get an achievement for being the first level 85. |

Originally posted by Zillen 1. They're not released yet, nor will be until a patch (I'm 75% sure on that one). 2. Take the old Azshara, raise the tide level by about 20 meters, and add a giant goblin fortress in the middle of the bay. It looks like an old English coastal fort, but Goblin themed with roads and a GIGANTIC goblin cannon at the front of it pointing towards the ocean. Azshara now looks much more inviting from a questing standpoint, instead of the current deserted woodland it is. 3. Worgen = lore. Goblin = stupid fun stuff (ala explosions). I enjoyed Worgen more at the start, then it deteriorated. The opposite can be said for the Goblin. It was boring at the start and a few levels in gets funner. The goblin zones keep changing and shifting, so it's hard to rate them all, but easily an 8/10 for each. The worgen zone is gorgeous, and looks more haunted than any zone in-game currently. 4. Yes. Not as good as Worgen or Goblin, but polished. No where near as much phasing. It's more like a classic starting zone thats...new.

Yeah, first thing on logging into the beta I noticed was the completely new (and much better) soundtrack. If only Bear McCreary would do the OST, i'd be omgawesome. |

Originally posted by Zillen 1. Don't know about better or worse, as I have not done any heavy leveling nor heavy raiding. Just different. They did reduce the amount of talents. You get a point every 2 levels now instead of every level. You also have to specialise in one tree (meaning you can only spend points in that one tree) until your specialisation is maxed, or you purchase a dual spec. I think this was done to allow new players to focus more on their class, or role (for example, your a shadow priest? stay a shadow priest, as your healing abilities would suck in dungeons). 2. Like the other trees, you have to specialise in a particular tree. When you specialise in a tree, you earn passives that are only available to your tree specialisation. For example, only Frost DKs can get Frost Strike. Only Blood DK's can get Heart Strike. So on and so forth. My DK is a blood spec for tanking, and is still quite fun. Granted I have far less talents to work with (at 85 you only have 31 talents available) , but they're still fun to play. I find a lot less "baddies" now as it's much harder to make a completely gimped spec with only 31 talents. |

Is this how WOW treats hacked customers?
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 9/16/10 10:08:17 PM
Originally posted by ReallyNow10 Foolish of you for not doing research. This is a commonplace email. They send it on the suspicion (or outright reporting of/or accusation of) a hacked account. It's to stop the potential threat from doing anymore damage, and see if you're telling the truth. When I called support about a hacked account in May, the CSR said they get tons of reports of hacks, and has had to deal with a number of them being fake; the reports come from hackers themselves trying to get into an account or people trying to faux Blizzard into a free authenticator or gear. |

Originally posted by gamerman98 Your friend sounds like he sucks, to be frank. The 85 zones have the same degree of difficulty as your first time in Northend or Outland. Talent trees are still being tweaked, Blizzard has said this NUMEROUS times. Also, a level 80 can two-shot a level 75, so the last remark seams reasonable. I don't gank :3 |

Originally posted by Klainx 1. The raids all feel the same to me now, including vanilla. It's just the way WoW's tank/healer/DPS mechanics work. They are certainly pretty though. I haven't played much of the raids, as you can guess, not a lot of people bothered leveling to 85. Most are still 80 and just flying around exploring. From what I can understand, the Skywall raid isn't in game yet, or I just can't find the damn thing. 2. Both. |

Originally posted by tdog21 Do your research. Electronic Arts had nothing to do with APB other than that viral "Human Avatar" advertising campaign and organizing what stores got boxes. It's the same relationship Valve and EA have. EA just makes the boxes and ships them. RTW self-developed and published. It's a bit strange to think that Electronic Arts is the shining apple in the all the muck of game devs the past years. Valve hasn't done anything notable since L4D2 (and even that was a rehash of L4D1). Activision is greedy like nothing else. Ubisoft loves the Internet in singleplayer. Blizzard milks money from morons. Don't get me wrong, EA is bad for their horrible download manager thing and some DRM issues, but they're reletively clean compared to other companies recently. |

I bought the game for $50 3 days before release just to play with a friend. What a blast we had the first week. I never touched it again after those 7 days. I'm mad because the game was terrible, the only reason I played those days was because me and my friend were drunk almoost every night we played. I'm glad because a bad game deserves to die. Stop saying this had potential. It didn't. It's no more deep than GTAIV's multiplayer or even CoD. They should have gone the Global Agenda way and go F2P. It was horrible in beta, it got worse by launch. There was never any promise to be had. |

Originally posted by Zillen You keep the achievements. If you complete them in Catacysm again, you get another one called "Surveying the Damage." If you complete your Explorer in Cataclysm, you get the same achievement as in classic. Personally, it's cooler to get the achiev now than in Cata, as you can look at the dates of your achievements and see it is pre-Cata, just for nostalgia. |
