Join THE GALACTIC EMPIRE (Ultra Casual)
Guild Recruitment « Star Wars: The Old Republic 10/19/11 1:42:08 AM
I kid you not, we have this name on the website. We're an extremely informal guild. Essentially it's me and a few dorm buddies from college who will play together, and anyone else who wants to join. We enjoy having fun and being goofy, but I don't like bullshit. Bullshit = guild kick. We need two more people with pre-order access on their SWTOR account to keep the name at launch, otherwise we lose it potentially. There's no application, website, required playtime, anything. Just keep in mind: We're NA East. We're PvP and PvE oriented (with a preference for PvE).
So, want an awesome guild name and just in general an easy to go place to form a group? Signup! All ages, no raid schedule, nothing. Just ultra-casual, pick up and play. |

AoC, Warhammer, WoW, anyything pretty much. I've played almost every MMO out there. The only one I play now is EVE. The only one that is a definite NO, is Rift. What MMOs are new or in open beta, or have come out already (like I mentioned earlier) that are fun? Have games like WAR, AoC and WoW improved? |

You do know almost every single release date is pushed back, right? |

Why would I pay $15 a month + their stupidly high box price for Minecraft Online? |

Originally posted by Kain_Dale Exactly. The Isle of Dawn was enjoyable. People were grouping, it was polished, the quests were fun and streamlined. The main land is like a brick wall - quests are scattered out into the middle of no where. Everything is a ghost town. I was yelled at for about 40 minutes (like I said) until a GM shut them up about why I enjoy a streamlined game. The chat is filled with old EQ and Ultima snobs, I felt overwhelmed. This game needs more people to play it, but the way I was treated and the way I was bored is not going to attract those people. Get some dev support to polish and streamline it more. |

1-10 was great. Then I hit main land (Thestra). I decided to explore a bit, and it showed me a real depressing, empty game. NPCs stood in place, there was no life to the game at all. I go back to my questing area and tried to find a group. Nope, no one my level (11) was around. Closest was 19 and he had nothing to do with me. I did a few quests for about 3 hours using the gryphon and riftstones to get back and forth (as walking through this dreary, empty waste of a landscape was boring). I promptly wanted to stab myself in the foot because the game is just so dull. This is coming from someone who used to mine in EVE Online. I asked in chat for some help, got a bit, but it quickly descended into an argument I stopped speaking in as the GM was getting into fights with players. Never again Vanguard. Never again. |

This thread is spiraling into whole other topics. Try and stick to what the OP was discussing, i.e. Mumbarak being ousted by his citizens of Egypt. Vato26, try and consolidate your posts - no one likes a double or even triple poster. It' makes you look obnoxious and thus, less people will care what you're saying (like if any "discussion" on this website is truly an intelligent one). |

How large are MMO worlds now REALLY? A comparison in world sizes
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 2/11/11 6:45:29 PM
And larger MMOs are really not a big feat. Dark and Light was an absolutely terrible game, yet it has one of the biggest game worlds. Flight Simulators you could argue have the largest video game worlds of anything as they are the entire planet. The difference is with these massive games is it's impossible to detail them. The larger the world = less content per km. |

May I point out something I find a bit humorous? As many people enjoy citing games like WoW are some of the biggest around, let me show you something.

Originally posted by Ihmotepp No....not at all. Mumbarak resigned, he's done. He has no role in the government now. Maybe a bit of say in political dealings, but he has no legislative power. The army rules Egypt right now and is stressing a peaceful transition into a democratic country. Also, anyone who says this "doesn't affect them" is an idiot (i.e. Dekron). Egypt is the Arab world's most populous and one of the most powerful countries in that region. That region also supplies most of the world's oil and that area is a major trade and tourism hub. If something were to go wrong, it would have very negetive effects on even our economy in the Western world. Gas prices for one thing... |

Originally posted by primalooze They're not trolling at all. I have the exact same setup you have, yet on Extreme I get 12FPS and Very High gets about 18. I don't even play the game anymore as it either (a) Runs like crap or (b) Looks like crap. I'm much happier playing Vanguard. |

I tried Vanguard yesterday as a trial and loved it, despite the low population. It prompted me to get the Station Access thing so I don't have to worry about DCUO now too. |

Two Worlds 2 is all about loot and min-maxing your character to godlike levels. You make your own spells, loot is random, yada yada. Same goes for Diablo 2 but that is a bit old. |

Originally posted by MMO.Maverick That wouldn't work in EVE. If you started just normal flying to another planet persay, it would take hours as the way the game's server works, the planets are actually distanced by astronomical units. Also you cannot fly between systems, as that requires a jump. 4 hours of warping/jumping sounds a bit off, but not too much.
Also the largest MMO is Dark & Light at 15000km, and the largest game is Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall at 487000km. |

I agree with everything the OP said. |

This is one of the games in my vast library on Steam I enjoy a lot. That itself warrents a high score. I don't care if chat is broken or the UI sucks. If I have fun then I am getting my money's worth. They're video games not video jobs. |

Originally posted by dreamscaper Agreed. It isn't out yet, there's no sales figures for boxes sold. How do you know it's the next standard? Also MMOs aren't the "standard for gaming." Not even close. MMORPGs are some of the most lacking in creativity and boring games out there (and I play Microsoft Excel Online as a hobby for pete sake). |

You, sir are only addressing one-half of the human race
Off-Topic Discussion « General Discussion 2/01/11 11:09:12 PM
It's the Internet. It's a technology forum. It's a video game technology forum. It's a roleplaying video game technology forum. It's a MMORPG video game technology forum. So you basically chip away a huge amount of fairer sex at each subset until eventually this site is what I would assume 9/10 male. Also I don't use "sir" in an argument. It makes it sound too personal, too weak, and often loses focus. If you want to take anyone's argument seriously, they should avoid personal quips, personal pronouns, etc. Stating, rather than saying "I believe...." is much more powerful. |

It's all rock paper scissors. Ground melee destroy ground ranged (through massive AoE and single-target burst damage). Ground ranged destroy air ranged (through knockbacks and snares). Air ranged destroy ground melee (through...well, just the inability for melee actually do anything :P). |
