Iv given up, I wont find a non grind mmo...so... Help me find a good 1

How is Hellgate London? It looks like a Beefy RPG/Action kind of game With a little bit of an online dungeon crawler in it. Seems like its kinda what I am looking for. Not to overwhelming or mmoish but more casual dungeons here and there. Any of you guys ever play it? Know if the leveling is quick or very slow? Also looks a lot like a phantasy star Universe but darker. |

Well I guess you guys are right. Im prob just done with mmorpgs I did FFXI for 3 years and WoW for 3 year's Guild wars for 6 months and Sword of the new world for 3 months. Maxed out on all those games. So I guess I just want to lay back and not really work my butt off to get something in a game where I can interact with people. Any games out there PC or console games that are like Champions of Norrath or Resident Evil Outbreak but with a decent chat system or a lobby ? Pay 2 play or free to play console Any except ps3 and or computer is fine. |

I give up! you win Korean Companies! I submit I will never find a Free or low budget mmorpg That is not a total Grind fest in one way or another. You just extend the time required for leveling by making mobs give low exp so players stay longer times in your lame games and are more likely to use your overpriced cash shops. Well I give up I bite the bullet!
I need a Game that is free 2 play or at least free 2 try that has decent graphics (Realistic style over cartoon) And a FAST leveling time. Something round guild war's time is fine. I dont care if its a grind fest anymore (Wont find any non grind fests) A little longer than Guild wars is ok too. But a Game that I can reach max level within a few weeks Would be REALLY good. Cash shop or whatever I dont care anymore Just something where I can level fast and has at least a half decent end game and community. |

I have played over 20 mmorpgs and I have yet to find the one maybe you guys can help...
LFGame « General Discussion 3/11/08 11:22:12 PM
The list of games I have played World of warcraft- 3 years but Im a bit tired of it FFXI - (This was the one for like a year but quit it due to Elitest community rule) Guild wars Everquest Everquest 2 Lineage 2 Phantasy star BB phantasy star online phantasy star universe Lord of the rings online Tabula rasa Pirates of the carebbian online pirates of the burning sea. Ragnarok online Sword of the new world Granado Espada 2 moons 12 sky Hero online World of Kung fu Lost chaos (Something like that i cant recall...) Maple story D&D online And about 6 or so I cant remember....
Anyways Some of those games like FFXI and WoW hell even Guild wars. Were fine fun games. I did play them for over 8 months time. The rest were Just on and off almost within a month games I simply did not like them. My BIGGEST problem is Korean Grind fests. I cant stand Korean Grind fests If a game tells you to kill 400 of a mob then I consider it a Grind fest that I will NEVER enjoy. So any games that give the majority of quests as (kill 50 (or more) of X mob and come back to me to give you a quest to kill 100 of X mob). Please dont mention Because I can't STAND them anymore. 2nd thing with me and some of these games is Cash shops. If you need to use the cash shop to enjoy the game or to make the game not be a grind Then its not a good game in my book. If the cash shop is just there as a 100% optional thing that does not affect how you will enjoy the game (The core game) much then its fine. But I rather pay a subscription than use a cash shop. So basically No Cash shop if possible and no Korean Grind fest. Something with decent graphics, and a decent size community thats still alive.

You just want it to look good right? Dont care if game play sucks and the community is as good as dead? Try Sword of the New world Granado Espada. One of the most beautiful korean grind fest's (ANDI MEAN GRIND FEST) you will find. |

New player fresh neutral opinion on this game.
General Discussion « Pirates of the Burning Sea 3/11/08 10:50:29 PM
After almost 3 weeks now with this game I have a few more things to add to my original opinion. The game is a lot more original that I figured it would be. there is a few things about it that make it stand out above the rest. The sea battles get really good around level 15+ (Made it to level 19) The game really starts to pick up but it gets harder and harder to avoide pvp as you progress making the game harder for those of us who do not want to fight others. That being said. The game just does not feel alive to me. I run around towns and spend time in the ocean yet I hardly see any players outside the pvp areas. The few players I did see were the ones who killed me but at that point I was happy to just see players. Its very boring to play a mmorpg solo to me and this game's community is sickly lacking in life. I feel a bit bad that I canceled my subscription (Soon as my 30 days are up). Because the game does not suck. Its just lacking life and luster of excited happy players who want to play and have fun. Its sad that a game so great is going down like a sinking ship so soon. It really is. |

I just started this game about 4 days ago on Saturday. My first Impression was a good one, Clear graphics a tutorial great character creation options and customization. After the first 2 tutorials However this game Just continued to go downhill for me. After the basic combat tutorial the game does almost nothing to teach you the more important things like skills talents ship customization and economy. I found myself stressed out and frustrated at almost every turn after the first 2 hours or so of game play. So far I am still lost and confused. (The following could just be the case in my server) When I try to ask for help or advice in Nation chat people ignore it. They do not listen or try to help new players. I Know the red areas are pvp and all about the pvp and how this game is about it (It is NOT forced pvp) But it is VERY pvp oriented. A few people did help me or try to help me (most did not speak spanish or English so It was very unclear what they were trying to say (Yes in a US server).
What really got me though is the fact that the same strategy that works vs enemies at lvl 1 that takes down lvl 1-3 ships Does not work on level 5 ships when YOU are level 5. I found myself constantly dying vs mobs my own level when before I was able to take out mobs 2 levels higher than myself. Its very unexplained and confusing the reason why this happens. For any one who is looking to get this game I suggest you get ready for a VERY harsh brutal rocky start. The game does nothing to provide any guidance to new players and from my personal experiences the community does very little of it as well. Be prepared to be stressed and confused the first few days. This was my First impression of this game (I will continue to play it for 25 more days) And make a full impression later on. (P.S) Yes I have played about 1/2 of the mmorpg's on the list to your left over there. This is harder than most of the ones up there. This INCLUDES Lineage II and FFXI soloing to 50 |

Just wondering if there is a Free 2 play mmorpg that is not a grindfest. You guys should know what I mean by grind fest. Not Ala WoW but endless mob killing with no middle goals except to get to max level... Im looking for a free mmo thats NOT that, are there any ? |

First of all Id like to say I never did EQ 1 or EQ 2. I was Into Phantasy star and then FFXI. FFXI is a hard game. It got easier over the year's but is still one of the hardest mmorpg's to date. Getting things done in that game takes months of commitment and hard core playing. That said. How do EQ 1 and EQ2 compare to FFXI? Are Eq 1 and 2 the same? Which EQ should I start playing if im looking to start one. Which has nicer players larger community and honestly less stupid looking races/classes. Which is not a total grind fest.....? Which is group oriented? Which seems to have more life? Which is easier? which costs less? I did WoW already and Im a bit sick of it, I started FFXI again for fun and found my Dragoon 75 had been deleted for not logging on a year and a half...yay for me so I re started and iv gotten 1-40 in 2 months. Once im 60 I want to try other games. Not to long though So I dont want it to be a big commitment. Aion the tower of Eternity is coming out soon and THAT will be my BIG commitment game, along side FFXI. So I want something that I can have fun with for about 4-7 months experience most of the game and then leave feeling like i enjoyed my time.

Why is it MMOs have such a hard time?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 1/18/08 10:57:48 PM
If developers want their games to be a great hit like WoW a cultural phenomenon as some of you like to call it then they need to do what blizzard did. Not only copy the game's basic formula style and game play but if you want the numbers SPEND the numbers come on spend 350million dollars making the hit game too. |

Well ty for the honest responses. I did read a bit more about this game and it is the definition of what I would hate in an mmorpg. I guess for now ill keep playing COD4 & WoW While I wait for Guild wars 2 to come out. God I cant wait for that game. Thanks all. |

Guild wars 2 Any info on it yet?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 1/17/08 10:18:03 PM
I did guild wars from March 2007-September 2007 It was a fine casual game. I have nothing really good to say about it. But I have nothing really bad to say about it. I honestly Can't think of ONE thing that SUCKED about it or something that made it GREAT. Sorry I just cant its dead smack in the middle for me. Anyhow, I have been playing wow for the last....what is it now... 3 year's and 4 months, And after my 3rd 70 I have well reached and gone over the point where you absolutely hate logging on the game and playing and you only do it to help friends with raids or to pvp once in a while. I really do want to quit wow. I need info on GW2 if you guys can provide it these are the following questions.
#1 Release date? #2 System Requirements? Will it be able to run smoothly on a standard 800-900 dollar 2GiG ram laptop with A Graphics chip. & Vista. (My laptop is WAY better. But I will buy a basic laptop for when I transfer to a culinary institute in New York next year and it will have to be light weight and small. ANY Idea on THIS would help A LOT :) #3 Is the game a big instance like GW1? #4 Auction house? #5 Dungeons? Or another GW1 And then they add dungeons later A la EoTN? #6 LvL cap #7 Will the game still stay true to its casual roots and skill based over gear based game play or will it turn around and bust out a WoW 70% gear based 30% skill?
Lastly...Will this game come out Before or after Aion (If you guy's don't know ill take your best guess). |

Hi all, Simple things that tick me off about some mmorpgs.
#1 they consume your life to get Just 1 of the best things in the game. #2 Grinding Grinding Grinding for XP, I like to do other stuff other than kill monsters. Like in guild wars those were nice options to grinding the Storyline you can follow in each game. Stuff like that is good. I also like the wow quest system where you turn in a quest and you get an item you can use in return not an XP card.
#3 Cash shops. #4 open world PK between allied factions. (I dont mind the WoW style Horde VS alliance or the PVP in Guild wars that one was a blast. #5 End game that only "The most hard core in the game" Can do, And the rest are left to watch and envy. (Ala FFXI gods) Those are the things that tick me off about some mmorpg's I have played. I don't want to name them all since I have played over 14 of them. So With that out of the way And knowing these facts. Should I give L2 A Try ?
Does this game have something to offer some one who likes to casually have fun and still be able to compete enough with the crazy hard core players like GW? (Btw I quit GW a long time ago Just got old to have 8 lvl 20s.) |

what mmorpg are you looking forward to for 2008?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 1/17/08 8:54:45 PM
Aion is it for me. If I end up not liking it I promised myself that would be my LAST mmorpg I EVER play. So If it ends up a Korean grind fest Ala L2 I guess im done with mmorpgs. (Wishing its new and innovative) |

Do mmorpgs feel kinda dead right now?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 12/16/07 11:34:40 AM
I Have checked out almost every single mmorpg on that list right there to the left. All except Fury, Hellgate, Horizons, Knightsonline, MapleStory,The matrix online and SWG. All the games I have tried so far I enjoy a little but there is nothing that makes me jump out of my chair and just yell out "HOW THE #### is this possible in a mmorpg" Nothing surprising everything is the same as it was 4 year's ago same basic formula's with new graphics. The game is ether a Korean Grind Fest or a Rip off of the EQ formula slightly re made. The only game that I have ran into so far with some sense of originality is D&D online but it offers the kind of game play I expect from a last gen ps2 game that is free 2 play such as monster hunter. So any one else just feel that mmorpgs are no longer the blast they used to be back when they were first going strong. I mean back in 2001-2005 mmorpgs were some what original because the basic concepts were not over done like crazy, Now it seems a mmo has to be a EQ rip off or a Korean grind fest, Not that they were not back then but now its getting really old. |

Originally posted by Netzoko ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Man Honestly I can't find a mmorpg that has some originality anymore. I tried so many different games already nothing seems to be as good as It should be, Maybe my standards are way to high but developers need to move on and stop with the Korean Grind fest formula or the EQ ripoff formula make a mmorpg that takes stealth that takes real thinking to figure out dungeon puzzles not like D&D where the graphics look like a polished off Morrowind but Good graphics and in an open world....Im basically playing Offline console games right now because no mmorpg has anything that I enjoy anymore. |

Is there an mmorpg like this already or do I have to major in game design and make it myself.
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 12/10/07 10:08:44 PM
I guess im just going to have to wait to see What that new SE game is bringing to the race, or Aion the tower of eternity...I guess until then I am going to Keep playing phantasy star Universe. Only because it is nostalgic from PSO alot of old pso friends are there its got great graphics and character customization and best of all it s only 6 bucks a month with the payment plan I choose. So Well worth It for a wait I suppose. |
