So? Nijntje was first published in 1955. "In 1964, Nijntje appeared in Japan as Usako and later as Miffy (or Miffy-chan). She became so popular that Japanese marketers soon realized her commercial potential as a fashion icon. They knew that the Japanese tweens, teenagers and even twenty-somethings would love her simple design and cuteness (“kawaii” in Japanese). In 1974, the Japanese company Sanrio adapted her to Japanese fascinations, which feature not bunnies, but kitties, and not the Dutch, but the British culture. Miffy, the Dutch bunny rabbit, became Hello Kitty, the English kitten. In an interview, Dick Bruna said that Sanrio admitted to being inspired by Miffy. Sanrio has, however, never admitted this in public, and the copyright has never been worked out." But that is not our concern, of course. Just interesting to know. For me it explains why Hello Kitty look so much like Nijntje. My first thought was "hey did Dick Bruna make that?" Apparently not.
So? I wasnt saying you made stuff up... I just said I had never heard of Miffy. |

I nominate Samuraisword to be voted off the island... trolls arent welcome. Stupid trolls who have no reason to be here because they hate the game are welcome even less. |

Lets hope you are right. Afk-shops ruin a landscape as bad as those houses did in swg. And then if this game doesnt have collision detection, you can be sure some dimwit is going to get as close as he can to an important npc so that you can only click on his shop... The only way I could see afk-shops used less than the ah is if both of them had a listing fee. Or you had to buy a commerce liscence and then pay upkeep on it... sorta like paying rent for housing in another mmo. |

Mass Effect = the way Tabula Rasa's combat should have been
General Discussion « Tabula Rasa 6/11/08 11:21:19 PM
Adding PVP was just a desparate plea by the devs to try and attract players... Why would we kill our own people (pvp), when there are huge aliens wanting to wipe us out of existence...? It didnt fit with the theme of the game at all. Now if they had done something like Lotro's monster-play... that would have been fun. I would have loved to played one of those aliens attacking a CP. But no, they had to staple on guild pvp... Every game does not need pvp. I know that its popular with a good segment of players, but Im sorry, sometimes it just doesnt fit with the game(s). The one thing about the general feel about the world I thought was great was the PA announcements in the main base. I loved the MASH feel it had. |

During the Crusades, Israel was a mostly Muslim country... but youre right about the Turkish/Muslim part.
I also love the sloppy haphazard look of a lot of really really old cities, like Prague for example. Even thought its stone walls and cobbled streets. They look a lot more earthy and comforting than giant metal buildings with laser-precision angles. Nothing can top the homey-ness of an Irish peat-house, or those Scandenavian houses from the middle ages with the huge cone rooves. And windmills. :D |

Player shops... *sigh* Worst thing about Lineage 2 (aside from the pking) was the player shops. Seas of afk-shops in Giran.. 3 minutes just for the city to finish loading. And it looks like they are in this game too. I wish that they would make a market instance in the major cities and have that be the only place you can set one up. afk-shops = eyesore. |

And to add to the person above me... when the Crusades were happening, the soliders brought back a unique building design: Rounded towers. Before that, square was the norm. Its alot harder to smash a tower that doesnt have a weak point (the corners), than it is to smash a rounded wall. Its also why the best shields are not flat surfaces but are bowed out somewhat. ^.^
The crusades part might be in error, I know at some point Europeans discovered round towers. |
