Lord of the Rings Online ( Battle of the Nodes )

Yes, your right, it's just one node, but there are more than enough a-holes playing the game that it becomes a frequent issue. Trust me, any game that allows gold farmers to advertise their sales as easily as LOTRO does, they will stop at nothing to make their daily quota. And since LOTRO is offering free trial accounts at this time, the gold farm spamming traffic is at an all time high.
ok Im not not gonna comment on the node-stealing thing because its really a non-issue... (people complain about anything theese days)
But this quote I just dont get... am I playing the same game as the poster? I play in the EU so maybe its different here but I never see any Gold-spamming.. maybe in the last 4 months Ive got 4 gold-selling mails and thats it (and I play alot with many character)... so I get a bit confused when I read things such as "Trust me, any game that allows gold farmers to advertise their sales as easily as LOTRO does, they will stop at nothing to make their daily quota." when Turbine have implemented alot of things to make it harder for gold-spammers and they are banning alot... this seems almost trollish to me...
and you know that free-trial accounts cant send tells or mails right? |

Theres not really anything wrong with the population on Evernight... As a low level you wont see alot of people since you are in a instance untill about lvl 6 when you get to enter the real world...
did a who search now just to see how many people where online and it was more than 800 players showing on the social panel. Then you have all the anynomous players and monster players online. There where also 58 players who were lvl 1-10 at the time.

I think they have made the leveling from 1-50 almost perfect. It was a little dry on solo content some lvl-ranges but they have been fixed now so you can easily solo to cap if you want. There is also alot of group-content that mostly gives superior rewards...
Lore-master i a really cool class that has some solo-problems eary on but becomes much better ones you get some more skills... as most classes they are much wanted at end-game and their ability to give power (mana) to groupmates and remove wounds and disease debuffs makes them very important (plus CC and decent DPS)
LotrO is a casual game and even the raids are pretty casual. there are only 2 raid dungeons (12 man and 24 man) but they are well designed and have alot of story connected to them. Killing the last bosses takes alot of skill and cordination but I guees they are not comparable to WoWs "hardcore" raids!
Have fun and welcome to Middle-Earth! |

I think what people mean when they say "good" they really mean a "mature" community. Most of the Lotro players are older and "casual". If you are a elitistc hardcore player then Im sure you will find our community lacking.
But I agree that there is a lot of jerks hanging around in Ettens and I have found myself leave the area just because the idiots spamming in OOC... but luckily most of thoose people now have left for AoC (thank you Funcom!) |

New player's perspective on LOTRO
General Discussion « Lord of the Rings Online 6/11/08 10:34:52 AM
Looks like that computer should be able to play it atleast on medium without any bigger problems... maybe you should look at the technical help forum to get some advice how to make it run better..
the gear at lower lvls isnt very impressive but when you get higher there are alot of cool stuff especially of you can wear heavy armor (and the outfit system helps alot)
seems like your biggest gripe with the game is that your computere have probelms with it and that you dont like the Lotr theme (its not high fantasy with alot o flashy stuff)
This game isnt fo everyone! Have fun in what ever game you play instead :) |

General Discussion « Lord of the Rings Online 6/10/08 6:12:13 PM
Im pretty sure you have to buy the box or try to buy a retail-code online..
you will get 30 days free when you buy the box or 45 days free if you buy gold-edition (its a really good deal) dont know about the special offer thou... if its ends 30th you should be able to get it if you buy before then but look closer on the offer..
have fun in Middle Earth :) |

It sounds like LotrO will fit you well!
Think a WoW with better graphics, Lore instead of Loot (well kind off), better community and devs that keeps improving the game with new and interersting stuff all the time! Even if its a group oriented game you can now easily solo to 50.. Even the end game is pretty casual! Snowbourn is most populated server Ive heard but Evernight aint to bad!
Whats not to like? :) Good luck on the exams! |

Anyone of the Lotro players tried Aoc?
General Discussion « Lord of the Rings Online 6/10/08 5:53:29 PM
From my experience (which isnt much) Id say that PvE isnt much different from LotrO but its more focused on PvP... (press 123 etc untill 10 pigs are dead.. you know it already)
the reason I dont play AoC is the immature, instanced and limited world!
I like Middle Earth :) (even thou Turbine could throw us some more lvl 50 content)

I guess someone has to say it....
its not PvP based.. its RvR based... there is a different |

How about a Middle Earth Online someday?
General Discussion « Lord of the Rings Online 6/08/08 4:34:14 PM
You can go anywhere you like from lvl 1 except east angmar... and I think the dread-statues is a pretty good way of creating a barrier!
There is even a quest to play a lvl 1 chiken and run all the way from Shire to Rivendell! I dont see the problem (except that the whole world isnt in game yet... but its a pretty big world) |

Just because a game has orcs and elves it cant have a different theme? so you would say that LotrO, WoW and Eq2 has the same theme and isnt unique... just because AoC dont have orcs and eleves doesnt make it a revolution... the difference between AoC and WoW and LotrO is about the same i would say... they cater to different people with different playstyles and therefor they are all unique... (AoC has tired Raiding and silly PvP mini-games like WoW but Lotro doesnt have that) I play UT3 or crysis pretty much the same way that I played Doom and Duke3d... but I still enjoy thoose new games even if I just shoot monsters with big guns like I did 10 years ago!

Age of Conan having any effect on LOTR population ?
General Discussion « Lord of the Rings Online 5/20/08 2:21:47 AM
I think short term its going to have a negative effect on LotrOs population. Alot of people want to try something new and get a change of scenery. Bok 13 didnt bring much new for lvl 50 players so they have no new content to play with.
But Im thinking that long term maybe AoC and also WAR will have a postitive effect! These new hyped games will create population movement in the MMO market. Some of theese people leaving for example WoW that is looking for a solid PvE or RP experience will perhaps move to Middle-earth :)
and who doesnt whant to explore Moria?? (retorical question btw) |

Yay first post! :) Dont really know what your problem is but Lone lands can feel a bit boring... haave you found the ranger camp by Weathertop and done that quest chain? One of my favourites in the game! You can also move forward in that zone and go to Ost Guruth with alot of quests. After lvl 20 its also a good idea to travel to Trestlebridge (follow the road north from Bree). I think the lowest quest is 23 there. Its a huge zone with alot of quests.
If you are tired of questing then probably this game isnt for you... or you can grind mobs with rested XP if you like, the XP you get isnt that bad! |
