There are similarities between STO and Potbs. Both have just boring and stupid avatar combat. Avatar combat in Potbs sucked even more. But ship combat is where fun lies in both games. Sadly i had much more fun while at sea than in space, because of one factor only, wind. You had to take that into account on every maneuver you or fleet makes and made formations and such a viable and necessary tactic. On STO i hardly have seen any of this, been tester for 3 months and its just sad they couldnt do much more with their IP. Customisations are great, as is normal in cryptic products but some mechanics are just strange or slapped on without thinking. If i had to choose between this or Potbs, sea combat wins all times. I just hope that rest of Potbs game would be polished around it, but since STO too is mostly about combat, im not buying this one. |

Its in 100% working state, new heroes are coming all time, everything seems to be working as it should be. Theres is all the time balancing and other issues, but these guys listen community very well and things are really changed. If you get inside beta, you have change to pre-order game for 30 dollars, which isnt bad cause this game is working like it should be. Last night it showed 25,000+ testers online playing, which is really big number. This guys made Savage before, which is was really good considering they are small company. If you liked Dota or never played it, i suggest trying this title. One of best games i ever played, only community is bad sometimes. |

To me Planetside died when it released most rushed expansion ever, Core Combat. Instead of adding things playes asked for (bunkers etc..), they made another zone with ugly looking caves and some stupid ziplines. People asked more things to surface, but they give this to divide playerbase. Before that expansion Planetside was very healthy, over half of my clan stopped playing about month or two since this expansion came along. Some were bored yes, but this wasnt what player asked for. Even simple artillery piece players got was some strange alien hover tank which was totally "alien" looking even to players. Ugly They could have made so much more out of this game, its maybe one of my best times ever those 5 months when i was playing Planetside. Great fun, big battles big territory. They just never made conquering any meaningfull, its was basicly just capture a flag and after that enemy can capture it immediately and no benefit for your side to capture it really. If there would have been some terms that one side can win server, there could have been more reason to hold some territories more. I totally loved it, but cant touch it anymore. Hope someday there comes something very similar to this |

And answer to OP is that many new people after first evening of play usually move other places. I suggest look for a guild asap, they usually have some hub where all are. Dont know about others races, but Mahirrim started area has players around usually.

People here said same things when Eve released. But in order for Darkfall to really survive, is up to how much they can patch and polish game. Thats mostly main thing this game needs right now. Maybe in time it will grow, but i think it has more chance than some games released within past 3 years does. |

Originally posted by stayontarget Sorry but DF has grinding. DF reminds me of a little story I heard: Some people put a little child into a room with nothing but a shovel and lots of cow chips because they wanted to see what he would do. Two day's later they came back and found him laffing and having a good old time, So they asked him what he was doing and he said. " I know there must be a toy in here somewhere"
Yes, my bad i didnt write it clear. Point is that every game out there has grinding element. Recent years many new lvl based games had replaced more or less open grinding with quest based grinding. I found it nice for a change that we can go where we decide to. There isnt any levels which restricts us, but some of harder mobs need more players or characters that have upped their skills little. With good company you can relax on this game as good as in any game. And with friendly fire too, in combat you need to watch your swings little more. Im very glad this game made it, what has been recent options after WOW? Lotro, War, Aoc, Tabula Rasa etc.. they all had very similar gameplay style and it was defined by levels. This game is different and that is why it will never be for everyone. I bet many of you werent here when Eve was released? There was lotsa hate and bad mouthing back in 2003 before i even registered. And that game is now in very good shape. People just adapted what they learned from previous games. I am willing to give Darkfall chance and thats why i am playing it. It feels im playing something different and not just that next game which has levels. |

You can compare it to Eve, it has lots of basic elements that game has. So far personally im having blast playing Darkfall. Our small guild works tightly together and game is totally open to us. Its been really stupid recent years that grinding was replaced by quest grinding. There are quests in DF but you dont need to do them. Lots of things still need tweaking but its working quite all right. Even in wilderness theres places to see so far and dont have constantly look around do i aggro that mob left or right. I have been amazed that Aventurine managed to make all this and so far its very enjoyable to me and my friends. |

I wish them best luck on this, game isnt anywhere near ready state, as of now. And atleast next 6 months wont be easy for them. We have WAR coming and WOW expansion of course always draws some old players back. |

Game now is definately worth it. i hope that MMORPG will do a second-look review for this one, after trial island releases. |

GW really is low investment. I bought many later expansions on cheaper prize and many months after they were released. I still consider it one of my best games i bought, moneywise. But right now AOC takes time away from that game, but will return to it later on. Missions are very nice and varied, getting new elite skills from bosses i like more than just loot, thinking builds and PvP. Theres lot of things to do. |

It can have good amount of players, but Blizz will never be worried. Only Blizz can kill Blizz and time. I would love good WH40k mmo to play, but hardly see how anyone can bring justice to it. |

Im euro player, dont like almost ever solo-playing, play semi casually. Just some guild proposition and server needed if i start new. |

You know that a game isn't doing well when....
General Discussion « Pirates of the Burning Sea 3/11/08 1:03:32 PM
Blackbeard and Roberts really are maybe only servers of choice for new players. Plenty of action guarenteed. Roberts have quite many players during euro peak-times playing and usually 3-5 pvp zones around towns. British are numerous of all, but currenly spanish is in lead. This game really isnt for everyone. PvE aspect still is only to get you some money and exp, until you reach higher levels. After that is PvP only. But notice that onwards from 20 you can be valuable part of pvp. And that can be reached with group pve in single evening. Some people cry that they get ganked, but is only your own fault. Either you sail with your eyes closed to PvP area or you are unfortunate enough to get into combat with enemy group. Even ganking has always been part of PvP and devs never tried hide that fact, so some people should get over it. There already is "fair" port battles of 24vs24, so their is your fair fights. Surely lacking still, but as of now my PvP game.
