I don't personally love Fiesta, but I can't understand the multitude of complains about it. It does sometimes get laggy, mainly when your personal internet connection sucks, but there are occasional bouts of server lag too. The community is helpful (unless you log on at the Spanish hour), and yes, there are advertisements spamming the chatboxes when you first starts. This is a perfect time to test out the handy "block" function, which promptly gets rid of all the spammers. It takes about 5 seconds. The most fun part of the game is the market for materials and equipment. The grind is bad in later levels, and in PVP maps, you're likely to get killed very quickly by the people who happen to be at the max level limit for the map. As far as questing, grinding, and general MMOing go, Fiesta is bad. However, getting into production of stones and scrolls, as well as buying and selling enhanced equipment, is a very fun thing to get into (unless you're bad at it). |

Well, when I started, I was thoroughly confused. It told me "go find this person, press this button, and then do this. OR you can right-click to do this here unless this happens".. not quite, but you get the point. I was sitting thoroughly confused about what I was doing. I'm just glad the enemies don't attack back at the beginning. |

It starts off sort of crappily, with the recorded voices, the English mistakes, and the typical, overdone introduction of a "vision". However, the game really picks up steam with the battle system. This is definitely what sets the game apart from other MMOs. When you encounter an enemy, you get "warped" to a little battle area, where enemies are arranged in a small grid. Your choice of players and positioning decides how you can damage the enemies. Although the battles are fun, they aren't inventive enough to keep my intrigued. I find myself doing a lot of repetitive actions and found myself quite confuesd at the beginning of the game (it lacked explanation. Although some information was on the website, tutorials are generally integrated into MMOs). Yes, it was fun, but not worth the 7 GB of hard drive space. My overall rating is a 7, because the battle system was creative, and the audio was quite pleasant. It mainly loses points on confusion, lack of taking the creativity to the next level, and the amount of resources required to run the game. |

Adding add date to the custom game list
Site Suggestions « General Discussion 7/31/08 1:21:21 PM
The title says it all.. I think there should be an "added after/before" option on the custom game lists. I wanna be able to see what's been added since I last checked, and that would accomplish that >_>. Otherwise I have to go through a bunch of other stuff |

I know there's an RSS feed, but I just want an update every time a new game is added. Basically, every time a new game adds to the list, I want to check it out. Every once in a while I go through the list again, but that takes a long time and I end up checking out games I've done before, last time I went through the list. So I'm wondering if there's a way to save tons of my download time. Specifically, is there a newsletter or RSS feed that will tell me when just the game list gets updated? If not, there should be. And if not, I might work on a program to tell you when the game list is updated. It'd be incredibly annoying, and not automatic, and you'd have to paste the game list in every time, but if there's nothing else, then I'll do that. Hopefully though, the site can do this. |

Umm I'm confused.. where I come from, plvling is power-leveling, which doesn't seem to be covered here (or does plvling mean party-leveling in Flyff?). |

Like a lot of games, SoF doesn't tell you what to do when you start, you just kinda drop in and get a very vague sort of feeling of what you should do. I think "Overwhelming" is the word I'm looking for. The game's a bit Asian for my taste, but judging by the screenshots it does get better. Another odd thing is that everything seems impossible to buy at the beginning, but I don't know how fast money is collected. After talking to some NPCs, it seemed like there was an annoying war going on, which I don't personally like, but you might. Overall I'm saying I downloaded, installed, registered, and played, but practically quit at the character creation screen, and definetely quit after the influx of Asian stuff and the rest of the oddities. I'd say it's worth a try after you're done getting through well-reviewed games.
My personal rating: 5.6 |

Immortals Online isn't an especially great game for me; it was slow, a slow intro where you had to run all around town, and a pretty one-dimensional battle system when you start. It seems like on a pretty good computer & internet, after you got past the beginning, it might be a good game... it's just not as enrapturing as games like Fiesta, which always has random stuff going on and it's very lively, whereas this game tends to have a less colourful, and overall more depressing, sort of interface and not as much going on (I'd think).
For me, 4.3 / 10 For good computers & internet, 5.2 / 10 |
