I finally found it. The Free to play MMO with an item shop that is actually fun. The item shop does not contain items that unbalance game play or pvp. just material things such as mounts, dyes and XP boosts.

The game is a RVR type game with three different factions Alius, Ignis and syrtis. They are battling over castles in the middle of the world map and whoever gains all of them will be able to invade one of the other factions home cities, kind of like WAR. The PVP is oddly balanced for a F2P game...I suggest you all try it out if your looking for a f2p mmo.

Its kind of in the spirit of doac.  The quests are pretty bland and it can get a bit grindy...but overall its good...

heres a link:

So I am currently downloading the game and I want some info on what this game is all about. First off, dragons. what relationship do the dragons have with the other none dragon players? what are the perks to being a none dragon?

what is the point of being a dragon?  what is the point of being a none-dragpm?

just tell me what this game is all about!

Here is something for all the MMO devs : Don't you have balls? Stop releasing fast-food MMOSHITs like WoW.

I think ya hit it there. I think WoW brought MMOs to a whole new level. Bringing the genre into the mainstream. But ya, problem is now that every MMO wants to be WoW...rather than trying to be their own game.

Look at Alganon, perfect example of a new MMO that rather than trying to be original follows and tries to be WoW. The claim they did this so that it would be easier for players to adapt to the a new game. Yet why would players need to adapt to basically play anpther WoW with a different title? If the players are sick of WoW and want to leave it for another MMO...why would they go at and play another MMO that runs, looks and plays exactly like WoW?

Seems the MMO devs feel that, it worked for WoW, so let's do the same thing. Where are the UO clones?

All WOW did was bring MMOs down and set them back for the next 10 years till we see the abomination of this game disappear then we will start seeing MMOs again.

This shit will never disappear...It created a whole new community, and that community only likes wow-like games.

All we can do is play our good old games even if they are slowly dying.  No company will released a good MMO, SWTOR is going to be the same instanced fast-food money pump and so will be all the next games.

I waited for a good Sci-fi MMO too. Then Tabula Rasa came out and I fell in love. Sure it had a horrible crafting system and other flaws but what other MMO doesn't? I loved the combat, quests, the base capturing. But then NCsoft had to shut it down.

I still think the game didn't need to be shut down. The population wasn't completely dead. I feel like this sent a message to the MMO community "DONT MAKE DIFFERENT GAMES OR ELSE YOU WILL FAIL!"

Then again maybe it didn't. Fallen Earth was still released and apparently that is doing just fine. So who knows.

I am a big fan of Turbines games so I decided to try out their first MMO. I got the free trial but was wondering what the most populated server was. I want to be able to play with low level characters and such.

Or is the game too old to be able to do this? Will I not be able to find low level  players to quest with?! thanks for all the hlpe :D

eh, I suppose I'll just get Asherons Call. Always been a fan of Turbine it'll be cool to see where they started. Hopefully its still a fun game. heh.

I don't wanna play one of those shitty Asian MMOs. I just wanted someone to reccomend an old MMO. Didn't wanna just go out and buy a random one and end up hating it......

I have a job but I don't exactly have a lot of money to waste right now : [. So I thought I could waste a couple months playing a older MMO while saving for a new desktop....

I am reduced to playing on a crappy laptop and In need of a MMO to waste some time on. I am willing to dish out some money for a MMO as long as it is playable on a 4 year old laptop. I just want a quality game with a decent population.

Was wondering if Ashaerons calls was still worth playing? Dark age of camalot?

I always enjoyed these odd old school graphics but they need great gameplay to back up mediocre graphics. I doubt this game can provide that since they are resorting to posting adds on forums and such.

Wrong.

Yeah lotro probably has the best PVE content out there. But lacks variety in classes / races. All those games have free trials so you should probably try them all out before you buy them.

You can play Civ 4 on that :D Just get a few other buddies to download the game and let the addiction set in.

If you want a lot of difficult pve content and a variety of races and classes then go check out Vanguard. That game is awesome. It is very group oriented but you can also solo if you want to. EQ2 has NO variety when it comes armor and such.

try both of the free trials to decide.

The games alive but these forums are dead. Such a shame.

TL;DR

The game is what it is. I don't how all these people can just post about a game that is too easy. Go play your old school "hardcore" games. SOE made the game for FAMILIES. That includes children so they have added somethings to guide players. If you don't like it dont play it.

If you know how to make the PERFECT MMO just go make one.

I would suggest checking out Regnum online.its done by some indie developer in Argentina and is very well made. It is a lot like DOAC and has awesome quality pvp end game. There is an item mall but you dont have to buy anything from it. Nothing they sell can improve your character in pvp its just things like mounts, dyes and XP boosts. Itspretty damn good. check  itout.

No.

I've played plenty of P2P mmos such as LOTRO, WOW, EVE, FFXI, DDO and plenty of others. But after awhile I just got sick of paying 15 bucks a month and since I played pretty casually I decided to find a good f2p MMO. From what I've learned EVERY SINGLE F2P MMO created by koreans sucks. That is a fact. They are grind fests.

So after months and months of playing every other F2P mmo under the sun I have finally found one worth my time. It's called Regnum Online. I was surprised at first at how much I liked it since every f2p MMO has let me down. But this game is actually good. The devs took the micro-transaction payment system and made it work. They didnt sell the best gear in the item mall or anything that could influence gameplay. they simply sell player customization tools like dyes for armor and mounts and such.

So its actually a FAIR payment model. Hell I may dish out 5 bucks just for a mount or something. I could easily only spend 5-10 bucks a month on the game if I wanted or I could play totally FREE. Its brilliant.

Sure it isn't near the quality of LOTRO, WOW, EVE or any P2P game but its still damn good. Just try it. Its a RVR type game with some unique features like invading the other teams realm and such.

Right now I am playing Regnum Online and that game is pretty much based on a 3 faction RVR system. You pretty much fight for 5 bases in the warzones and if one side successfully captures these crystals located in some of the bases you can tear down the factions "great wall" the protects their main city. Then you can actually INVADE the faction.

The game is actually tons of fun and im pretty surprised as to how much im enjoying myself. The game does have an item shop but it gives literally NO ADVANTAGES to pvpers or anything. It doesn't sell any gear at all.

From what I hear its very much like a free DOAC but I have never played DOAC so I couldn't confirm that. Just check it out.I think you'll be pleasently surprised at the quality of this F2P game.

Edit: Also so far there are plenty of quests in the game to make the grind not that bad. Except from level 40-50 there is a bit of a grind but you can also do some PVP to ease the pain. Just try the game out :D
