Left the MMO scene for a bit but now I am back and in serious need of some sort of entertainment! It's pretty easy just throw out an F2P mmo you play and tell me the features and all that fun stuff.
I've been looking around and Forsaken World, Runes of Magic and Atlantica are all standing out right now. Are there any small niche MMOs I should be taking a peak at?
Thanks! |

http://realmsonline.gamesamba.com/ Anyone know this game?

Saw this too. Its a literal copy of Regnum online down to the faction names. Its very iffy.
Check out Regnum online if you want a good F2P PVP MMO that isnt buy to win. |

Community is the main thing I love about PVP. In LOTRO there was a great PVP community in which you knew who the great Monster warriors were and you looked out for them. Cross server instanced pvp seemed to really ruin that for me because it took out the whole rivalry aspect to PVP. |

Had some amazing times in FoM. It just needed something else to do besides sitting around at a terminal and do crafting to make money.
The RP and community was amazing though. Shame the one dev couldn't add better features to keep players around. |

(Game World the size ratio of the United States) how has MMORPG game and server tech advanced?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 1/07/11 1:57:10 PM
Big game worlds are fun and all but its pointless if there is no content to actually fill the area. I'm not saying quest content but at least explorable castles, dungeons, random world bosses, anything really.
Vanguard had a fantastic world size with the main continent (forget the name) that was filled with random dungeons and what not. The other places were pretty poor though.
The game world should be big enough to allow literal adventuring without the helping hand of quests with random content for players to find. Too bad devs usually don't do this but meh. |

Try Regnum Online. Its a three faction RVR type MMO that is actually pretty decent. The PVE is mediocre but end game PVP is balanced and fun. |

Undead Labs: Current MMOs are "barely even games"
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 11/04/10 3:20:48 PM
All he is saying is that MMOs should be less about the mathmatics and more about action. Replace the numbers with literal actions. That sounds brilliant in my opinion.
He is almost correct with the consoles as well. WIth consoles you never have to update your hardware and all that jazz. Just buy the console and your guarenteed every game you buy for it to run at optimal speeds.
Longevity? Look at FFXI, it released on PS2 and when the next generation of consoles came out they updated it to be playable on them (at least the 360...not sure about ps3) but it is possible to keep an MMO running on the consoles for an extended period of time.
No idea why so many people dislike the idea of console MMOs. Of course the maturity level might be lower but that is the same on the PC. Just look at WoW, Champions and some other MMOs. Their communities range from complete immature children to very mature people. Why can't it be the same for this MMO? (No offense to the WoW and Champion communities..its just an observation with my stay with those two MMOs.) |

Is power and prestige any good?

So what's the deal? It doesn't even seem like anyone is even excited for it. Does it make potbs worth coming?

Only way to download is through Station Launcher?
General Discussion « Star Wars Galaxies 9/23/10 7:13:25 PM
I'm attempting to play this game but the station launcher is downloading the game at incredibly slow speeds.
Is there any other way to download it?? |

Is everybody too far ahead? Is the game so top heavy that no one will even bother to help out some noobie?
I plan on testing it out on a froob account then maybe jumping on that 10$ discount for all the expansions!

•What are the Top 10 Indie Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Games
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 9/23/10 7:08:41 PM
I can only think of a couple. Only played one.
"LOVE" by Eskeel.
Xyson..by some unknown developer.
Ryzom. Forget who made that one.
Dawntide by Working As Intended.
Who knows if Xyson or Dawntide will release and if they will be any good. |
|
|
Why don't we start up some groups that play and learn Ryzom together?
hmmmmm? |
|
|
Try playing either Vanguard or Ryzom. Both are fantastic sand box games.
Ryzom has a 21 free day trial. Vanguard has a 14 day trial. |
|
|
I too feel as though the only reason the game isn't more popular is because no one really knows about it. For all the Sandbox threads I see I feel as though more should play...
There is a 21 day FREE TRIAL. Jeez.
I'm downloading it and trying it again. |
|
|
AWAY WE GO! Sandbox lovers actually support your game.
Seriously. |

I've been poking around on the forums to try and find if the devs had some sort of road map for 2010 but I cannot find anything. Are they not adding any more content? |

The dawn of the Story MMO's has arrived.
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 9/17/10 2:06:04 AM
I would prefer a MMORPG game world that was just littered with cities, lore sites, NPCs and all of that good jazz. But instead of the NPCs giving you quests they simply tell you rumours and what not letting you to go off on your own adventure. There wouldn't be a reason really, unless you role played hardcore or something. It would just give you the sense of being on your own adventure.

The dawn of the Story MMO's has arrived.
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 9/17/10 12:43:26 AM
I've always thought that in an MMO it was all about creating your own story, your own path through the game. The story is what happens within the community, what you have done and so on and so forth.
Not just running an instanced quest with some dialogue. |
