What a stupid thread this is. BP is an action FPS space game with practically zero RPG elements in it hence it being F2P. Eve on the other hand is a fully developed point and click (shitty combat) MMORPG that can actually charge because there is a ton of content in it.

How the 2 are comparable is beyond me. Oh I get it - they both have stars instead of hills and grass .... Lame thread.

Well they both just look chaotic and rather shite. No tactics being used. Use spamming of spells. 

The trouble with DF is that to play well you have to be constantly cast mana to stam, stam to health spells all the time to keep yourself healed up or spamming health potions. It is just not tactical enough. I am glad I saw those videos as I was tempted to resub but not now, so thanks.

PlanetSide in an outfit called Fight Club on Werner server. I will never have that kind of experience again, we were a nice tight outfit that knew each other and had 2 outfit nights a week. Our Monday one was run by a guy called Munkhi and he was the best spec ops leader there was. 

We would all get together and load up into a galaxy class gun ship then hot drop together on enemy bases. We would all run together to the generator and destroy it and then take positions around it waiting for the enemy to come fix it. 

There is no game like PlanetSide - it was and is the most awsome FPS MMO experience you can have, when played with good guys in a tight outfit there is nothing comparable. Tribes Universe ? Here is hoping.

You can talk about EQ and UO or if you are really sad WOW but the fact is none of these games can even scratch what PlanetSide had when there was a three way battle. You need player skill to play a FPS not this level shit.

Man how I wish they would do PlanetSide 2 properly.

Azrile most people who bother to sign up to a site like this are normally MMO veterans. There are not many MMO veterans that would consider any events that are going on in WOW to be of any interest. 

Lets face it WOW is just another tired old EQ clone and no amount of new landscape or races is going to move it away from the tired old formula. How the hell you can play a game that still uses auto target button mashing shite combat is beyond me. Does it not bore the shite out of you yet?

What a shame that you think this site should focus on WOW when there are so many interesting new types of MMOs coming out (Guild Wars NOT being one of them!).

In WoW, every lvl 80 newb has one...or four...or twenty four. WoW suffers from what I call "Dragon Ball...Z...GT... Okay... wait a minute! What makes an item Epic? Isn't there a big difference between double damage bane items and the Sword of 10,000 Souls?

 

Should weapons raise stats? Should weapons increase Skill or Level? What do you think of DPS? Speed? Enchantments? Charges?

NO not every game has legendary or epic items - you have just played EQ clones like WOW too much. With terms like DPS etc you show this to be the case. MMOs are a lot bigger than the EQ clones you have played and you perspective is very limited. This thread = utter fail.

This has already been answered. It is as much twitch as Tabula Rasa was twitch .... ie 3rd person shooter. You do have to aim at least.

If you hadn't noticed, Planetside has gone down to the bare minimum of servers (one) with likely the lowest population that the game has seen in its history, and dropping. There's no financial gain in large scale development for Planetside anymore, but that holds no bearing on how Sony is developing PS2.

Yes I have played PS recently so I am aware of this Omali - thanks for that. 

I was referring to Sony having a very poor history with this MMO - they did not develop it originally, they barely added anything to the game. This give a major bearing on how Sony is developing PS2 if they even are. There was a twitter message over a year ago and then a email sent out to old players apart from that there has been nothing.

The point that I am making here is that PlanetSide was based on Tribes so Tribes Universe is most likely to be the next best thing to a "PlanetSide 2" we are likely to see. Not many people have faith in Sony on these forums. After seeing what they failed to do with PlanetSide I have zero faith in them making PlanetSide 2.

So again I will end with a positive note hoping that Tribes Universe is a really good title. Now please refrain from saying "yes but Sony is already making PlanetSide 2" and being sarcastic but actually making yourselves look like idiots.

The last thing Mortal Online needs is a NA server. I am located in India and have absolutely fine ping to the European server so why someone in the US would need one I have no idea.

Seriously games like Darkfall and Mortal Online has obsoleted this EQ clone. 

11 million people play it but that does not make it good. 4 million people read The Sun Newspaper in the UK and that is far far far from being a good newspaper.

Yes this is the closest we are going to get to PlanetSide 2 guys. There has been no news from Sony about the real PS 2 but seeing as PlanetSide was based upon Tribes then Tribes Universe is really really good news for us PS lovers :)

I just hope they do it right and not like the mess that is Global Agenda.

What I do find strange is that if they make this game good then there is not room for Global Agenda - seems strange that they chose to develop a game that would kill off their other "offering".
