Does anyone actually hear themselves on this forum?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 1/08/12 1:41:10 PM
This thread is a perfect example of utter pointlessness. Someone posted a half formed idea that made no sense and showed the appalling state of US or British education, then people actually responded by posting more mindless drivel. I am adding further pointlessness with my post. |

Best and Most Successful Sandbox MMO?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 11/10/11 7:21:03 PM
Darkfall full of sand? Hardly. How long have you been playing? I just resubbed last week and boy and I disappointed to find nothing at all new. There is no sand in it! It is all prescribed freedom like you can have a house but only in a premade village, you can have a clan keep but only in pre-made keeps. The crafting, cooking etc are all very shallow. Darkfall is far from being a sandbox like Ultima Online was. |

Universities Investigate Warhammer Online
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 11/06/11 6:04:15 AM
The study is by the Psychology department pretending to be the computing department. They are actually testing how mentally ill people play multiplayer games. They chose Warhammer Online as the only people that could possibly play Warhammer are mentally ill.... Dum Dum Tish ! |

Best and Most Successful Sandbox MMO?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 11/06/11 5:49:20 AM
Unfortunatley there are very little sandboxes on the market now. Some that have not been mentioned are: Xyson Darkfall and Mortal have very little sand in the box though and Mortal is still extremely buggy. Darkfall 2.0 might add some more stuff to make it more sandboxy but at present it is just PvP full loot game with too much emphasis on character skill rather than player skill. Xyson is not even close to being ready for lauch but was unfortunatly rushed out too early. Ultima Online was the best sandbox if you ask me. But there is no way you could play it now. Somethings mature with time, computer games in 2D do not! My hope is that Darkfall or Mortal Online get some major funding and sort themselves out. My other hope is the PlanetSide 2 gets many more RPG elements to it to make it a proper sandbox war game. |

Cash shop mercs are $50 each? ($70, really)
General Discussion « Atlantica Online 11/06/11 5:35:38 AM
OMG you would have to be seriously mentally ill to actually spend $50 on anything in this "game". I mean SERIOUSLY?! |

Don't get too excited by this game it is pretty pee pee poor ! HiRez do not exactly have a good track record either. You ever tried Global Agenda? Enough said ... |

Good post! I could not have said this better myself. If SWG has decent combat a la PlanetSide then it really would have been the best game ever. Imagine the PvP sceens in cities with real twitch based lazer fire, ducking behind walls, the wars that would have raged on all over the galaxy. It would have been immence. Also when you wanted to take a break from the galactic war you could have gotten immersed in the quests, crafting, city building, etc. Oh what a missed opportunity SWG was. Really strange that more people do not see this. Territory control a la PlanetSide but with the richness of the SWG universe = best MMO ever. |

Massively editorial on Bioware's missed opportunity
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 9/15/11 1:19:32 PM
Yes and because they are going for the boring EQ clone combat they have missed out on a massive opportunity. Hence the article! Also yes I am waiting more for a sony online game more than a bioware one because whilst Sony online messed up with SWG in the past they still make better games than the linear crap that bioware churn out. Also if you ever played PlanetSide then you know why it is of far more interest than this teenage kiddy themepark of a grind, I mean game. |

Massively editorial on Bioware's missed opportunity
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 9/15/11 1:05:04 PM
Sorry but could you please sort your spelling out, even if you are not a native speaker just use a spell checker ... wrighter? The OP is stating that he thinks the traditional EQ clone style combat is not good enough for a star wars game. I agree, so many others. FPS style combat requires skill and is actually fun. Pressing tab to target and button mashing abilities with cool downs in NOT fun. Bioware missed out BIG time here, so did Sony in SWG. |

Massively editorial on Bioware's missed opportunity
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 9/15/11 12:54:55 PM
Yes bioware sure missed a massive opportunity when they opted for shitty EQ clone style combat rather than the FPS combat that Star Wars deserves. Just how many EQ clones reskinned can people play before they wake up? Star Wars screems out FPS pew pew lazer fights! Oh well back to waiting for PlanetSide 2..... |

Dawntide is realy not up to the quality of MMOs that are on this site. That being said there are some pretty bad ones that have got a forum but not quite as bad as Dawntide. |

Players are getting sick of it and stand up!
General Discussion « Mortal Online 9/11/11 10:06:52 AM
Ok I think the territory control video / new patch and latest forum updates should shut you up for a while ! MO is a great game and has a ton of potential. If I had 10 million pounds spare I would give it to SV to make the game even better. |

Wow I must say that is an amazing picture that really shows off this game. I can safely say that Mortal Online is the best looking MMO out there by far. Seriously try going riding in the planes late at night and watch the sun come up it is a very nice experience. |

Dragon Age is 11.95 at D2D. is it worth it ?
General Gaming « General Discussion 8/29/11 2:15:27 PM
Amen ! Finally someone else that thinks bioware make crap RPGs. I loved baldursgate but after playing oblivion and fall out it is impossible to play these linear type games. Shallow and shit they are. Save your money for skyrim. |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Game Update from SyndCon
News Discussion « General Discussion 8/19/11 4:28:57 AM
No Star War is not like Winnie the Pooh but this Bioware version very much is. Actuall sesame street version of Star Wars is more like it. This is going to stink big time. Why people are getting excited about it is beyond me. |

{mod edit} This is an independent company that sacked the guys that actually programmed the game then released the game with a few minor tweaks and has now supposedly hired new programmers who are slowly getting to grips with the game. Give it a year or so and it might be in a better state gameplay wise but that all depends on if the company can keep afloat as the little players that are left leave and no monthly subs come in. It is not a scam though. Just limping along. |

What is YOUR reason/reasons for wanting Guild Wars 2
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 8/13/11 2:54:54 AM
Guys you are all going to be so disappointed. This game uses the same old and tired combat system that EQ introduced over a decade ago due to latency and poor connections speeds of the internet in those days. Can you actually aim your sword to someones arm or leg? - Nope Can you actually aim at all? - Nope Do you target with a key press rather than aim? - Yep. End of really guys. End of. Seriously the more you buy this crap the more developers will make game like this.

Oh dear this looks like a cartoon. "fierce and bloody combat" ... er perhaps not ! |

It pains me to say, but the "fighting" seems rather...boring
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 8/09/11 11:33:14 AM
Unless any of you actual enjoy combat in games like WOW or EQ then you guys are going to be so disapointed. The only good combat is when you are actively involved in the combat ie aiming the gun at a moving target or blocking then counter striking someone in melee. The kind of combat you get in games like PlanetSide and Darkfall / Mortal Online. We now know that SWTOR uses the same kind of combat as WOW and EQ so yes the OP is correct this game is going to have boring combat. This is such a shame as Star Wars really deserves a good pew pew lazer fight and exciting light sabre play. Unfortunatly what we get is crapped old combat that was designed for games when the internet had too much latency to allow for MMOFPS (yet PlanetSide and WW2Online somehow managed to do it back in the early 2000s). Like I said I feel very saddened by the combat in SWTOR but people seem to still buy games with out real combat in them, just look at the number of players of WOW. Kind of sad. |
