I do believe it is laziness and shows a small mindset fo the game. Why restrict such a fundamental aspect of choice? The development team just needs to be smart on its character models and armor meshing. Creating extensive class-specific looking armor throughout the game complicates this, but is also only needed when visual recognition of specific classes is needed.

This kind of idiotic decision on behalf of game developers has caused me to miss out on a fair few MMO's over the year, but I can always find others to spend my money on.

Around 15 years ago, one of my Comp.Sci lecturers summarised the Windows/Linux debate like this, and I believe it still holds true:

"If you're going to be playing games, use Windows. For everything else, use Linux.."

Another vote for WoW from me.

Not just have I found it shallow, simple, and really bloody boring, but the 'people' I met whilst trying to play kinda put the final nail in the coffin.

It may have opened up the genre for millions, but as far as I'm concerned, the vast majority of those weren't wanted and practically destroyed the MMO community as a whole.

The thread title is one of those times where the difference between English and US English makes me chuckle.
