Please, old gamers, read this and tell me if im the only one -.-"

I'm certainly what can be considered an old gamer, having been involved in the original MUDs when I was at Essex. Heh I'm in agreement with the OP on every 'want' listed, aside from the one regarding instancing. I actually like a bit. Dungeon crawls were great and still often are, but online gaming has changed and it's now filled with players that do things just to spite you. Spending hours going afer a contested mob just to have the invibile group following you pop out whilst you're preparing REALLY sucks. Waiting for critical respawns can be a pain too.Well, I think so. I'd suggest having a 50/50 balance of instanced and non-instanced dungeons, so the player can choose to fit their current mood. Oh, and I absolutely hate gunners/engineers etc replacing archers/wizards. Keep my pew-pew pure! ;) |

Originally posted by Antarious I'm a bit baffled by that as well. Admittedly, I've only tried live updates with 500 pseudo-connections, and 8 real players connected, and it is seamless. You're looking at a tree, turn to look at the noise behind you, then turn back and the tree is now a lamp. It's also quite amusing to turn someone's streetfighter motorbike into a duckling as they're riding along ;) The need for all this downtime that I see people complaining about is entirely down to Bioware (or possibly EA; I don't know their internal workings). It may be something to do with the way they share their database between billing, forums etc. I don't have any experience in that yet. |

I'm curious about something I noticed during my lunch break and would like to begin a direct discussion about it. Looking at posts on this site that blame Hero Engine for the lag issues in SWtOR, almost all of those posters have expressed the opinion that SOE was to blame for the SWG NGE. Obviously, I'm not going to single out those posters as that could be considered trolling. Maybe some of them will comment here. I was working for SOE (as a CSR) before the NGE was introduced, and there had been a good many in-office rumours regarding Lucas Arts pushing for changes, so I'm certain that is wasn't a case of Mr Smedley suddenly losing his marbles. Having worked extensively with Hero Engine for the last 3 years on a project, I know that it's not directly responsible for the lag. Whatever Bioware did with it caused that. The only link that leaps out at me is Star Wars. So, does being a Star Wars fan somehow change your psychological makeup, or is there something that I'm just not seeing? |

Will Salem's design and graphics turn people off?

It sounds like an almost-perfect game for me, aside from the open pvp, permadeath, and yes, the STUPID HEADS! :/ |

Good, but where's the war?

The war is on the forums mate. It's a browser-based game. Didn't you get the memo? ;) |

Just a simple question. I'm getting back into EQ2 and remember thinking that I'd like to play with them before, but they were on a different server. |

If I like the look of it and don't recognise what it is, then yes. Otherwise, no. If you're asking for a 'stats' reason, then absolutely not. Books and covers etc... |

I prefer lock-on, but not for the reason you stated, so I didn't vote. |
