I preordered Aion directly from NCSoft, then when I discovered the game was almost idential to Lineage 2, and full of bots and goldsellers, I complained and was offered a full and immediate refund, which I accepted. Assuming your TL;DR is accurate, then the blog isn't. |

The RPers tend to stick to the RP channels. That way they cut down the chance of having their experience diluted. There's usually at least one player-run RP event per day; it's just a case of finding it. I often see low-level toons in Neriak arguing with each other, and I daren't even try and understand what's going on there :) |

Thanks guys :) The PSP Go does look rather nice, but costs a bit more than I'm looking to spend. I think the DSi would be ideal. I know he used to like those pokemon games about a decade ago, so he can pick up a modern version if the desire appears. |

A friend of mine has a birthday coming up, and I think that a hand-held console would be just the thing for them. However, I'm not very familiar with what's on offer, and I don't seem to be able to find any decent comparison reviews. They've expressed an interest in the 'train your brain' type games, so something like that is a must. Being able to surf the internet would be a plus point, as would being able to play music (though hopefully through a headset when I'm around). Do any of the current/recent consoles stand out from the crowd in your experience? |

I sympathise completely mate. If you don't fancy doing anything techy, follow the request in this thread. FE will take a look and confer with your current ISP. Sadly, there really isn't much more you can realistically do other than try a different ISP. |

Nikopol, pinging login.fallenearth.com won't do much for you :) Tracert will show you why. You're not after the login server though, and it appears that all of FEs incoming/outgoing traffic is sent through www.fallenearth.com, with the most common 'hiccup' in the line at ae-6-6.car2.Raleigh1.Level3.net which is found in all connections to the server (on my VM line at least). |

I'm in the UK, and often have to stop playing due to lag. For those that aren't familiar with me, I worked in IT for almost 2 decades, with the last 4 years of that being involved in AI research. I'm more than capable of telling the difference between system and server lag :) My home connection is on Virgin Media. I have no other viable option as the local telephone exchange can only provide me with ~1Mbps connection. I love my little rural house and I'm not moving for the sake of playing this one game in my spare time. For me, and many other users, the trouble is in the connection between Washington and Raleigh in the US. This seems more so for the people on the ex-NTL cable network. VM is aware and has made a few small changes, but not enough as yet. I'm well aware that this isn't the cause of everyones latency issues, but it is undoubtedly the cause of mine. If anyone is having troubles with lag, I encourage them to download PingPlotter and run tests directed at www.fallenearth.com.

I'd like to know if the game company was contacted before the paypal dispute was filed. I think that would clarify the situation a bit. |

The community is getting worse too. Have you seen all the flaming/trolling that goes unchecked on their forum? At least here that kind of behaviour gets dealt with, not ignored. The recent announcement to schedule daily maintenance at the start of EU peak time hasn't helped

Many are reporting terrible problems. See here for example. Almost all of the Brits I came to the game with (around 40) have stopped playing until there are reports of improvement. Myself, the game runs around 120fps in the open, and 30fps in towns, so my eyes don't discern any system lag. However, I often have to log off when the server lag goes upwards of 4 seconds, which makes combat quite impossible. I've waited for over a minute for the server to catch up at times though. I have already cancelled my subscription, but will happily renew if the server lag improves before it expires. |

I use Core and really like it. Drox is alive and well again too. HOWEVER, Core does have some glitches with it, like occasionally wiping all client side hot-bars :( and a small memory leak. It also has a lag component which makes it very difficult to react to mob buffs, debuffs, actions etc. We relly on our default UI folks to call stances, shields, furies, rages, exhaustion, weaknesses, etc. because they will see it before the custom UI folks do. And 1 second lag can wipe the raid. As much as I like the utility of the custom UIs, I'm considering just going back to default. The other draw back is that everytime there's a game update, you need to wait a day or two for the custom builders to release the UI and then cross your fingers that when you install, all your previous keys, alignment, arrangement and macros (some can be very lengthy) to still be there.
Are macros/keysets stored locally now then? That's gonna take a while to set up again - I have a lvl 50 in every class, and as a programmer with intimate experience of SOE, I'm somewhat prone to fiddling with UI coding. Always nice to have a good base to launch from though.
I have to admit that I'm not liking the sound of the spell costs. My VG knowledge is over a year old though, so hopefully money is easier to come by. I'll not make any decisions until I see for myself anyway :) |

I understand that someone is keeping CoreUI3 up to date as well.
DroxyCore can be found here www.vginterface.com/downloads/info169-DroxyCoreDroxandCoreUICombined.html Way ahead of you mate. Already decided to give DroxyCore a go first, but got the 'new' Core as well just in case :) Launcher says the servers are up (my toons were/are on Xeth) but I'm getting the 'Waiting on response from World Servers' message at character select. Maybe they realise that my dinner time is in 20 minutes and decided to keep the servers down until after then so I don't get distracted. |

Oh wow. I literally just ventured into this section to see if they'd raised the level cap yet. What a lovely surprise. Time to dig out the box and grab me the latest CoreUI (assuming it's still around). |

What MMO cancellation disappointed you the most?

I see a lot of people saying this, and loved what they were trying to do, but PE simply weren't up to the task (likewise with Star Trek). I was in beta (I forget how early) and wasn't surprised in the slightest when it was cancelled. It was very poorly coded and the combat was possibly the least responsive that I've ever enountered. The chat channels were constantly full of people expressing their dissatisfaction. I fully expect an MMORPG to be announced soon by a more reputable company that covers classic mythology, so it's not all bad ;) |
