HHmm Gamloading, your a little wrong about hte makers of EQ part. The origional 6 people that began the EQ project that eventually became verant Are involved in the creation of Vanguard. Also before Sigil went out looking for help he pulled in every person he knew and trusted that wanted to be involved. So just like EQ the game will evolve into a complex and fun game experience with unrivaled content and story.
And people saying it adds nothing new have not looked at how in depth the personal housing system is. You can ecorate your house with ANYTHING, if you can drop the item it can decorate your house AND you and turn and rotate the item how you want making every house a unique creation of that player.
About the whole silly wow comparing, WoW is a copy of EQ so this game is a copy of EQ NOT WoW, oohh wait it's being made by the guy that Invented EQ and created the game format people seem to rave about making WoW so good. I would also so Brad is not copying his previous game but taking its frame and reworking it and building up to make it more exciting, like in combat not only will yo have the nice powers like all mmorpg's but as combat goes on you will be able to implement moves that do devestating damage save players or add buffs to magic/weapon damage. On top of that each class in of of itself is an experience offering varied and unique gameplay. The necromancer for instance, cool pet withstanding, you have the stadard dots but on top of that you can apply curses to enchance those dots and laying the right curses means using the proper dots, bards actually build there own songs AND are very capable DPS fighters to boot. I know all of these things Allready exist in every game don't they...........

General: Casual Play: What Makes WoW Dumb?
News Discussion « General Discussion 12/07/06 6:24:44 PM
Well simple is pretty much what attracted people to the game, package
an incredibly simple to play game inside a colorful pretty world,
simply to attract the graphic whores, with an allready proven game
system pretty much taken directly from EQ.
Blizz simply pulled the best things from the genre of MMO's rather than risk trying something new, which has shown by many other games to be a terribly risky venture. The end result imho though is akin to going from playing some awesome pen and paper roleplaying game to "Choose-Your-Own" adventure dvd's cause its got pretty pictures. WoW has at best of times very standerd pvp, many other games have provided both more rewarding and immersive pvp elements. The pve content is very limited, in less than a year my 60 priest has done every single quest that was available to her, lets compare that to EQ for a minute. Hmm...ok there are more quests FOUND in the Basic EQ than in wow with horde and alliance combined and more than 30% of the games content in EQ (items quests story) is still undiscovered. Its sad to say that a game could be called great if everything its has to offer can be discovered and completed in the span of 9 short months. Is WoW bad game, god no, but it is a rehash of allready used mechanics inside a pretty shell. Its saving grace was its simple gameplay, WAY simpler than EQ2, and i tihnk that is the 1 and only thing that truely drove the games success. Most players i have seen that have emerged during the age of WOW are seriously put off by real challanges and dont have any true drive to overcome them, waiting on someone else to devise a strat or find a high level to do it for them, or skipping it completly On the bright side with BC coming out all the silly lil noob players that suddenly became MMORPG players with wow will stay for the expansion allowing the actual gamers to head out into a few of the newer games which have more game content in the starting city than in all of WoW. |

World of Warcraft: Blizzard Banning Accounts
News Discussion « General Discussion 11/24/06 12:14:58 PM
WooT go Blizz, maybe, i doubt it, but maybe 1 company taking a hard
line approach to these people destroying these enjoyable games will
open other companies eyes and in a few years most of these games will
be actually fun again.

World of Warcraft: Editorial: Two Casual Years Later
News Discussion « General Discussion 11/18/06 3:50:09 PM
I don't see how you can say WoW is so attention grabbing after 3 weeks
you can grind any class to 60 and ooo there went half the game. WoW is
a simplistic EQ knock off that offers no real challange. The game world
is one of the smallest out there, the community is mostly whiney pvp
griefing children, the Only thing WoW has is graphics which a certian
level of gamer cares about, i care about quality game content and
immersive gameplay and WoW seems to be severly allergic to both....
EQ was a fantastic game that suffered from a change of company and of game ideas. WoW is simply a pretty filler till a really good game is released. |

General: MMOWTF: Don't Hate the Player...
News Discussion « General Discussion 11/14/06 7:18:44 AM
Just a typical narrow minded thug looking for something else to lay the
responsibility on, the game doesn't Make you do anything you choose to
do it End of story. And don't hate the player? you just admited you
were a sociopath....seek help
so?ci?o?path? [soh-see-uh-path, soh-shee-] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation –noun Psychiatry. a person, as a psychopathic personality, whose behavior is antisocial and who lacks a sense of moral responsibility or social conscience. And Shadowbane is an example of good PvP?? the pvp community caused the game to be basically reset and all but abandoned, ie free till they come up with something useful to use the hardware for. Most pvp isnt anything at all about hadeling challange, most pvpers i have seen can't handle any challanging fight and scream cheater/hakcer when they do, all they are capable of is killing far weaker opponents who are completly unable to defend themselves, thats the treu essance of PVP from UO |

Selling basic items for more plat than ANYTHING eversold for while i was playing post planes of power is unbelievable, and after having the balls to comment on how all these other places have ruined game economies, it almost makes me sick to say im a gamer too.....how far we have fallen. |

General: Debate: Power Leveling Services
News Discussion « General Discussion 8/13/06 2:42:12 PM
Carolyn Koh made a very funny and imo a very ignorant statement.
She said that she did not know of any guilds that have a trial period, lol, She obviously doesn't play much of the end game content. From WoW alone i looked at 16 of the major end game raiding guilds and ALL have both an application to complete for review, a period before acceptance to play with other members and they all have a 1 to 2 week trial, rookie, initiate status where you are in the guild but have limited access to guild events or loot while you prove yourself. The 3 major EQ guilds i knew when i played were exactly the same way. To me it seems she just picked the other side to complete an argument without having any actual knowledge or experience in the issue, very funny. |
