wow how silly can a person be. I paid too and i actually understand that beta access comes in stages and groups. My guess is that us lifetime and 6 monthers will get in on the last closed stress test before going to open beta. Here is the shocker, thye allow us access to beta on Their schedule, not Loban's schedule, get used to it and over yourself

The game is just a huge quest grind with crap ping for most europeans... And developers dont seem to acknowledge the fact that their servers and bandwidth is not delivering

Actually they have addressed these issues and are working getting them fixed. As for the quest grind, well, you could always grind mobs for XP, or craft, or salvage. Or, you know, you could just stand there with no way to gain XP because they are all just "grinds".

The problem is that the quests are mandatory since they tied AP gain into the quests. So there really is no option than to quest.. ALOT

Thats pretty much the single thing that made me not to buy this game. Forcing you to do boring quests really killed it for me.

My god yes, i can't believe a RPG game would actually want to Make you experience the actual story of the game, thats just so wrong........./sarcasmoff

when do you get to change the color and origin of your powers i am in the desart and i still cant find a way to change how my powers look

translation, this game isnt for me.

Personally i love the stats, they allow for you to decide where your power strength will be, and um yea you cant be uber awesome in Everything that was Never the point. They allow you to expand outside your normal area of abilities but ofcourse your not as good as another who specializes in them. And um, powers Always had cooldowns, they said that abilities wouldnt  be cool down based like in other mmos as in everything you do has a cool down some powers do some don't.

wow after reading this i am SO glad so many people won't wanna play, that just means less morons with no concept of anything but beiong a sheep will be in the game. DAMMIT i can't just have the glittering sparkly cape that was designed by a famous french designer or some crap without paying more so i wont play even though i have access to everything in the game.

Its useless fing fluff you freaking idiots, and powers you can buy, i have seen them in most games, hey look i made a disco ball appear and we all dance, bfd, oo i shoot out snowflakes now. God get a freaking grip you rejects. I can't believe you feel the need to be part of "some group" SO bad you would sacrifice what little common sense you had.

It was a high level setting used in PnP, no Godzilla per say, but a few very familiarish monsters among other secrets

oohh you mena your going to play a FPS which is true pvp?

i am wondering how this was a good article, it doesnt make any sense. It trys to say that we are wrong to say that F2P games are more prevalant in the east then goes on to name 6 korean F2P games as an example. Then goes on to talk about how people choose game shere and in germany which from what the article starts off about has nothing to do with it. The micro transaction MMO market was pratically invented in the eastern market and has been the major staple of all MMOs for over a decade. Its a factual statement that this form of mmo market is pretty much centered there because it Is, and its just recently began to spread out to Europe and the US as a growing market.

lol way to go admin if i had seen oyu i would be reporting it Untill they made you changed it or banned me. I could care less if you are gay strait or love the silky carress of a fine wool sheep. All that aside if you think that the game you are playing is such a big joke to name someone as ridiculous as that then i say gtfo we don't need someone as pathetic as that. Frankly i would suggest some counseling cause you obviously has some sexual identity issues and you should get all that straitened out.

The problem is that MMOs are designed from the bottom up to be a business model first, entertainment second.  Every mechanic is implemented to slow down your progression in order to keep you subscribing.  They gloss over this model with the carrot on the stick paradigm.  They are more interested in making their games addicting than they are making them actually fun.  There is so much potential for this genre, but it's being completely wasted.  It's completely stagnant and has been for the last 10 years.  Each newer game gets a new coat of paint, but the underlying paradigms remain the same.  It's no wonder people are getting burned out.  I bet most people stick with it due to addiction more than anything else.

I'm still waiting for an MMO that feels like a game and not a job.

There reason no new games can do what WoW did, is because all these new MMOGs are just slightly different versions of WoW. There's no reason to leave WoW and play a different WoW.  When enough WoW clones - like Acheron's Call, Warhammer, etc. fail, or fail to draw in a tenth of the business as WoW, someone's going to realize that they have to offere a different KIND of product. There are only so many hardcore raiders to go around; there's only so many games a person can devote ALL of their spare time to banging on the keys.

With the offline 24/7 advancement model, even casuals can play more than one MMOG and stay competitive.  The answer to vets having a power advantage over newcomers is easily answered: catch-up advancement rates at 110% of normal until caught up; and new servers opening up.

If I know I can eventually level my character up as far as I want to with no class or balance restrictions ... that's a lot of incentive to keep paying a subscription even if I'm  playing other games, and even if I only have a few hrs a week for online play.

Also IT ANSWERS THE BOT FARMING AND LEVELING PROBLEM, because you can set your characters to work,  or earn money, while you are offline; and EVERYONE is advancing in whatever areas of advancment they want 24/7.  What use is a bot in a game like that?  What are you going to sell people that they can't get for themselves? What mindless, repetitive key-banging effort can the bots prevent them from having to undertake, when they don't even have to log on to advance or earn money?

ROFL Asherons call....a wow clone..... you DO realize that this game is almost a decade older than wow, this game was loosing subs before wow was even being developed. Because a game is a mmorpg doesnt mean it is a wow clone, especially since wow is just a clone of all the games made before it of which there are about 12 or more. Before you struggle to reinvent the mmorpg game you should really invest some time learning about just what these games are.

you dodged my statement regarding

many players complain about mmos that have BOTH sub fees and a cash shop

or you are ok with Free Realms monthly sub and its cash shop?   (like DDO will have)

Sorry, I didn't realize that was a question looking for a response.

I don't like the concept of a subscription and a cash shop at the same time in principle.  Free realms subscription is more like renting items from the cash shop I guess.  Classes, quests and such.  I think it would be better off not being a subscription, but rather a set of content purchases.  Flat out buy the extra classes, zones or whatever.  Overall I don't like it, but I'm keeping an open mind right now to see how it works.  Like I said above, I think the revenue model(s) have been the driving factor in the games design direction which hurts that gameplay far to much.

As for DDO playing in both fields it could either work or just end up being a dirty end around to add a cash shop on top of a subscription game.  If the subscription option removes the desire for a cash shop completely then it might just end up being something that I thought was not possible and it could be a fine model which caters to both crowds equally.  I don't know enough about how ddo is changing to be completely honest though.  There is a lot of misinformation floating around so it is hard to tell right now what is happening.

You do realize that the cash shop for EQ2 is Pure fluff and completly optional. Its for people that wanna spend 10 extra bucks so they can wear a shiny suit of plate, which is cool, but places like lavastorm have better appearance armors. Don't like it then don't spend any money in it, not playing a game cause of something you dont even have to do is about the dumbest thing i have ever heard, thats like saying i dont buy cars cause i dont like goodyear tires

i love these kind of posts, completly dependent on the persons patience and random experiences. I Beta Tested the game and played at launch, i found a few annoyances, pathing probs and mob depops but no game breaking bug at all ever. Falling through the earth is a non issue, i have fallin through the earth in Wow, AO, EQ, EQ2, VG, oohh why list them EVERY game i have Ever played this has happened to and most of the time this is not even fixable, its a problem that exists because of how games are made all it takes for a "hole" is something being .000001 out of place and you happen to be on the 1/1000 of a pixel that causes you to slip, it happens you get annoyed you get over it.

The main thing is, people that didnt like the game are going to be so completly over critical that they will see "bugs" every 5 steps of a game no matter how well polished the game is. You didnt like how it played, great dont play move on.

Comparing Champions Online to a Graphic Novel and CoX to a Comic book was very revealing as to how much hyping someone is doing.

Not that I think that the art in Champions Online is very impressive, but, apparently, the person making the reference doesn't understand that most graphics novels these days were comics before they were ever graphic novels - most notably the most popular/exposed/hyped/rated graphic novel of all times - the Watchmen.

I guess it was written by someone that doesn't know what they are talking about.

I completely agree about the "graphic novel/comic book" comparison.  That is, quite frankly, astonishingly ignorant of an entire medium.

It's like saying driving a new BMW reminds you more of driving an automobile rather than a car.  Or the new Terminator movie reminds you more of a film than a movie.

Perhaps the writer should do a wee bit of research, and maybe look up the word "synonym."

The reviewers comment make total sense. In the Standard comic book fare, not a specialized singe series, but your usual run of the mill comic book there is a general and recognized art style. When they do Graphic novels they usually use a different style as a tool to emphasize something, gritty art work to show a dark and dangerous world, hard angular lines or many other tricks to further accentuate the artwork. The reviewer is saying CoX was like your regular comic book, standard and easily recognizable, Champs on the other hand changes the art work slightly giving it a familiar but distinctive look, much like a standard series comic and a graphic novel

wow that was the dumbest thing i have ever seen, glad he could amuse himself for so long though

yup download that, reactivate your account and when you install and log in it will patch itself to full

Its your account that determines if its full. if you get the trial version and reactivate your account your good to go

omg yea Buffy and frighteners were both awesome movies, damn slanderer

Thanks for the advice so far.  I plan on playing on a RP server (I'm an RP nut), and I hope those servers are more group oriented then the 'mad dash to endgame'.  I mean, what's the point of RPing if you solo all the time?

Don't need an RP server fpr that, people in my guild love taking their time and fully exploring every dungeon till we get everything out of it, I am constantly turning EXP off just so i can enjoy some areas longer. But have fun and if your on Mistmoore give anyopne in Respect a shout we are casual as a rule

eh wow is just for people that either have very little time and care only about being handed things or younger players you dont have the skill for more challanging mmos. Lota older players prob getting in cause the game is so easy and it doesnt take much to learn except how to use a mouse

Broad sweeping statements like this are just for people who either have very little skills in explanations and care only about grossly over simplified summary as these people lack the skill or ability to substantiate their empty assertions.  It does not take these people much more than the ability to randomly hit the keyboard and press the submit button.

Well when it comes to a grossley simplified game how else can you describe it?
