SWG was one of the greatest sandbox games ever to be released, but that was only part of what made it great. The community added quite a lot to what made SWG.

The loss of one was regretable but the loss of both was pretty much the death knell.

I've only just logged in recently to the "vet trial" and to be honest it's a shadow of it's former self. The "cookie cutter" wow clone is a shadow of it's once famed glory. And without that the community is all but lost. There were a few players online last night but it was a shadow of the glory days a few years ago when you couldn't move in Coronet due to lag from the amount of players present.

Gone are the "hunting parties", Gone are the mission groups. if you are not in a guild in swg you will be hard pressed to find someone to group with. Although tbh there is no real reason, that I've found, to do so anymore.

been away from SWG for a while was thinking of trying it again for a bit.

But anyway.

What size is the trial download?

What browser are you using?

IE has a problem downloading files over 2gb so if the file is bigger, as mentioned above, trying using a download manager or a different browser.

^^ Agree. I've built my own PC for years, and built them for a number of OEM retailers during my career also.

Building your own PC can offer you some decent savings but there are draw backs.

* No "simgle warranty" if something breaks you have to take it out bring it back to the shop and get it changed. With a manufacturers warranty they'll regularly get an engineer to do the repairs for you.

* No OEM OS - This can add quite a bit to the pricing of your system.

* Theres a fair bit of work involved. Between researching what you are going to buy, sourcing it, buying it, putting the whole lot together, getting the cooling and power requirements worked out and then installing the OS and configuring all the various different drivers. At the end of the day theres no guarantee that all your parts will "play happy" with each other.

If you do get these compatibility problems they can be a nightmare to sort out.

Buying an OEM/pre built machine rules out all these problems and even though I've built my own machine for years when I was looking for my latest rig I spec'd what I wanted got as close as I could and bought a Dell. I've never looked back.

Well the inspiron range is aimed at the entertainment home user, not a gamer. remember they have the XPS range for serious gamers.

However the 530 is a decent spec'd machine and you could pick up a 8800 for $300-400 from another retailer and just drop it in.

I would suggest

www.dell.com

you could get a Inspiron 530 with a quad core proc, 2GB ram, 320gb hard disk, SB X-fi, 19" monitor and a nVidia 8300 for €1099.

However if you budget is €1500 I'd suggest the basic vid card and buy a 8800gtx from another online supplier.

That'll give you a fairly decent rig and still be under budget.

I'd check the BIOS settings and ensure your USB ports are turned on. Your OS should have drivers for USB 2.0 built in. Sounds like either

A: the USB ports are disabled in the BIOS.

B: the board/ports are faulty.

Have to agree with this I played AO a few times. (still have an a/c) but it was the graphics that killed it for me. (hey I'm shallow)

Game always seemed to have great promise but those character models are just rotten.

If the graphics are updated I'd try it again though.

As far as I know there is no linux client for MXO.

Also the current client does not work with either WINE or CEDEGA so no MXO for linux users.
