SWTOR and Rift are VERY similar style of games. Expect to see the same formula once you hit cap.
The good news is that Rift is now F2P up to level 20, forever. It's called "Rift Lite". Enjoy. |

2 millions copies sold - 1.7 million active subs = 300k people no longer playing SWTOR. Looks like most of those that cancelled are hanging out on these forums.
Sure the game needs work, but the wife and I are having a great time playing together. I'm trying to be less cynical in life lately...I'm a lot happier. |

Is there a trial yet, or is the game still not ready for one? |

Airing your dirty laundry on a public forum = not a good idea. I just took him as a troll and nothing more, personally. |

Originally posted by picommander No, not skill progression. I was just referring to how long it takes to perform an action. For Example, nailing up boards on a house frame, or mining a tile out enough to get it to collapse. This is just my opinion of course, but they need to do a better job of balancing out the game with the simulation. In its current state, it's just a tad on too heavy on the simulation side for me. |

As the author of the review mentioned, Wurm Online has given me some of the most memorable moments in my 14 years of playing MMORPGs. Sure, the graphics are weak, but once I got into the game, the way the wind moves the trees and grass, the sound of the crickets on a moonlit night, it still has a way of drawing me in. This game isn't for everyone. It is slow as hell at times, but I can't think of another game that makes me fist pump the air after suriving an ambush by a pack of wolves like Wurm does. Everything you do, everything that happens actually MEANS something to you and your character. Others in this thread have mentioned that it's hard to survive alone. Hard, but not impossible. I was able to build a small house with a farm and a well, build a fence for protection and guard it with my life for about 3 months (as a Free Player). My only 3 complaints are: 1. Next to no animations. 2. Zero character customization...save for if I want to sport a hang-down or not. 3. Every single action I perform needs to be twice as fast as its current duration. It is a game afterall.
It sounds like they are finally going to do something about #1 and 2, and since they likely aren't changing the speed of the game, I guess I can deal with #3. Wurm Online has done what so few other games can claim: they have created a WORLD. I'm definitely going to give it another go when those animation and customization options go live. Shit, I may even pay for it. |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Make Your Own Load Screen
News Discussion « General Discussion 1/10/12 11:17:08 AM
Drive defragged, and it's not just me. Maybe you have a beast of a machine.
I'm running: 3.0ghz athlon II quadcore, 8 gigs of ram, 5870 ATI card
While my PC may not be a beast, it should be more than adequate to load this game in a normal timeframe. Maybe the hero engine does play well with AMD/ATI. who knows. |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Make Your Own Load Screen
News Discussion « General Discussion 1/10/12 10:57:19 AM
It's a shame you can't put video into the load screens, because zones take so long to load, you could watch Episodes 4, 5 and 6 while waiting for Alderaan. |

Originally posted by gaeanprayer I love voiceacting and cutscenes, when they are done well. Only having to mindlessly kill shit does a boring MMO make. Combat should only be a small part of what an MMO is.
On topic, the only thing Anet could do to improve the game is to stop F-ing with it and just release the damn thing! :) |

I think a lot of people, myself included, assumed that waiting until the last minute would sqeak out a couple more days of subscription time. All they had to do was word it like this on the launcher:
Activate your game code before 12/22 to keep playing without interruption. Waiting to activate your code will not increase your subscription time!

Skyrim Difficulty /Lvl up pace/ Weapons dmg
General Gaming « General Discussion 12/15/11 10:57:38 PM
The disparody between normal mobs and the "bosses" is way too high. On Expert and Master, mobs should be harder over all, but it seems as though only the higher-end mobs will make your face explode. I agree with the OP 100%. Skyrim is an amazing game, but they need to tweak their boss mob damage values. I will be going right along, fighting fun battles, until eventually *CLAPCLAP YOU'RE DEAD* from a couple of ice spikes. |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Early Access Moves Up! Pre-load Begins Now!

Ya same here, even though I pre ordered the day the release date was announced. I quickly cancelled my preorder and got early access codes for the wife and I from Bestbuy. Gamestop has been horrible in everything they do lately. I will never use them again, ever. |

Skyrim when I get a free second, but finals are keeping me way more busy than I want to be. I appreciate Bioware for releasing SWTOR the day my winter break starts. :) |

Is it me or does ToR have way too many abilities?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/05/11 7:58:34 AM
I think they amount is fine. If you want to take a look at a game with way too many abilities, look no further than EQ2. all you do is stare at your giant box of abilities and click the shit out of it. You almost never get to see what's happening on the screen. If I can set my abilities to 1-5, R, F, C, V and Z on my keyboard and get the job done, I'm happy. SWTOR lets me do that.

Fallen Earth: Front-Runner for the Sandbox Crown
News Discussion « General Discussion 12/01/11 10:50:14 AM
Ya, the term "sandbox" is pretty subjective. I've always enjoyed FE, but to me, it's no sandbox. A game like Wurm Online is what I define to be a sandbox game. FE is more an open world themepark, because areas essentially have level requirements. |

Originally posted by Velocinox I hated on this game for years, until I played it. It's multiplayer KOTOR, and I don't say that as a bad thing. The game is really fun, having gotten a couple characters up to around lvl 20. Sorry you didn't enjoy it, but for me, the stories are great, and should be fun to play through once or twice on each side. |
