Leveling hasn't been a grindfest for a long time. In fact, it's too fast now in my opinion. |

Guild Wars 2: It Just Keeps Getting Better
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 5/08/12 3:30:12 PM
I'm looking forward to GW2. I like what I've been hearing, and hope that its gameplay can meet the high expectations. What I don't like is all the bashing of WAR. WAR was and is a fine game, and made some innovative additions to the MMO genre. Yes, the population is way down, but when I played it was a lot of fun, and I see that GW2 has picked up on some of its better features. I have no problem with that. I'm all for new games iterating on the successful features of the games that came before it. But let's not bash WAR to prop up GW2. WAR doesn't deserve that, and GW2 doesn't need it. |

Guild Wars 2: Dunking on Nooblords in Tyria

I thought the post by Frostillicus was excellent. For veterans of pvp in many games (including WAR), his thoughts were spot on and was the kind of report I was looking for. Except for his use of the word "fanboy", I don't there was anything he said that was offensive, or should cause someone to become defensive. And you calling him a "WAR fanboy" is ironic, intentional or not. |

Seems like EVE is what you're looking for.

Originally posted by Pyuk I understand that EVE is not everyone's cup of tea. I think that's true of any game, and I can certainly respect that. EVE is unique, no doubt. However, I don't understand this "spreadsheet" argument. Maybe I've played it for too long, but I find the EVE UI quite informative and customizable, and not a "spreadsheet" at all. Also, with the upcoming changes to the UI, I expect to see significant improvements to its accessibility for new players. |

I only play one sandbox, EVE. To me, it's the best MMO out there, and not just because it's a sandbox. And to everyone who says EVE is a "gankfest", it's not--I've been ganked a total of 2 times in 6 years, which is way less than in most other games I've played. The division of hi-sec, lo-sec, and null sec is a great approach to way to divide those who don't want to pvp regularly from those who do, without totally removing an element of danger necessary in such a free-form game. |

Best looking MMO as of April 2012?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 4/30/12 8:21:17 PM
EVE, Tera, and AoC all have excellent visuals. The nod goes to EVE though. It's graphics are simply the best, from character creation to outer space, and everything in between.

You all realize that "Escalation" is not an actual expansion, right? "Inferno" is the actual expansion and is scheduled for next month. |

Welcome back to the best MMO out there! Sounds like you have the right approach and plan.

Originally posted by Scypheroth It's funny. For the very same reasons you don't like EVE, I like it. I like the challenge. I like not knowing everything about it after only a few days of playing. I like that even though I've learned a lot about it, there is always more to learn. I like that it's just...*different* from other MMOs, and has its own sense of gameplay and style. For those reasons and more, EVE is never boring, or stale. But I can see how not everyone can appreciate it in the same way. |

EVE Online: The Road to Inferno and Beyond
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 4/06/12 5:34:11 PM
This is why I play the game, actually. A few minutes after I first fired it up and realized how much I didn't know about the game, how much potential there was to do whatever I wanted, I was hooked. It's kinda funny. The more I didn't understand, the more challenged I felt, and the more interested I became. Not because it was overcomplicated, or the UI was busy, but because I knew I had found something that I wouldn't get bored with after a few days. Years later, I still feel the same way. Most MMOs you can pick up most of what you need to do in the first few "levels" of your character. The mechanics pretty much remain static: swing sword, cast fireball, don't stand in a fire, rinse and repeat. And many people really enjoy that, no doubt. EVE is..different. If you're willing to spend more than a day or so with the game, you'll soon learn that there is more, much more, than just being a truck driver in space. |

EVE Online: Closing a Chapter
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 3/20/12 4:01:54 PM
Not sure what you mean. At all. I play EVE, but don't participate in the situations that are described by White Tree (although I enjoy hearing about them through his well-written column), and I still find a *ton* of stuff in the game to enjoy. There is always something to do, whether I'm solo or in a fleet. EVE is immense and open-ended, and pretty much offers any type of gameplay that you're looking for. |

Those shop items are no longer available. And even when they were, being able to socket a green manastone that gives you +2 more than my white is hardly p2w. |
