Just started playing War Thunder a couple days ago. I'm having a blast with it. Before I was playing WT I was playing World of Tanks. Their models are similar but I have to say WT completely blows WoT out of the water for me. The flying mechanics are solid and very satisfying. Really?  Even with a proven track record of EQ and EQ2 which are MMO's.

Free-to-Play isn’t a charity?

Expecting players to pay for overpriced "starter packs" or "Beta Access" so others can play for free is though. 

That's the real problem with F2P.  Those that are really interested in a game get gouged (see $$) so 20 people passing by from game to game can "play for free" in the hope that 1 gets interested.

Cartoony is ok IMO.  Look at Champions Online, Bonderlands etc.

Nothing wrong with WoW, I think alot of people, including myself did not like the direction it went after the Lich King.

Pretty much this.  I have seen other threads about NW talking about the "dungeon crawls".  What crawl?  This is Mortal Combat slapped with a D&D sticker on the box.

DDO gets my $$.

Every F2P game I have played has been very under whelming.

- The graphics are "meh."

- The game play is always generic questing with the yellow Exclamation mark.

- Never more than 3-4 classes, usually genaric.

- Never anything new, always just recycled ideas done a billion times over.

- The combat and overall game feels like it was made in some ones garage.

 

 

Besides being a cheap @ss,  what do people see in these games?

I bought Storm Legion at launch and still playing today :) - Rift today is a VASTLY improved game than what it was at launch (mediocre).

The new souls are worth it IMO - harbinger/chloro is my new main, its quickly becoming my favorite class out of 40+ MMOs I played since 1999.

Choro is pretty nice IMO too.
