I miss SWG too but sadly he's dead Jim.

  • Over 2 million SWTOR units were sold in just over a month
  • SWTOR has 1.7 million active subscribers. "The majority of these subscribers are paying customers already." Eric Brown
  • Metrics on engagement: 1 million users log in per day staying in game for 4 hours per day

  • Grow subscribers with frequent content updates
  • Another major update larger than the first coming in March

Also lol @ the idiots saying this game is WoW. Get over it. Other games will come out, they aren't all WoW. Sorry idiots.

What exactly makes this different from WoW? Besides the setting, that is.

Definatly not the skills, boses the way a sprite mounts a vehicle.

Voice Acting,Lightsabers, and huttball.

All else complete copy.

That is ONLY opinion and nothing more. Not to mention that every single game released in at least the last five years is exactly like wow. Yes, including the upcoming GW2. You'll just have to deal with it. Btw, WoW is NOT the first game to do any of the features it does. Those features started with OTHER games, WoW just adopted them.

+1. Seriously I'm so tired about hearing this discussion. I dunno why I keep coming back to read more of it.

If the game is so terrible then why are you haters still discussing it? Go play your other game.

I'm sorry Suzie. I disagreed with almost every word you said. It might have been better if the girl was the big Star Wars fan and the guy was the hater.

Is it just me, or did Bioware live up to everything they said they would?

I know the game was majorly hyped up. And manynpeople seem disappointed, But really,, was this hype by Bioware or the Fans? Maybe EA?

to me it seems like Bioware lived up to what they said they would. I never understood the hype. The hype mainly was off of the brand-name of the developers (Bioware) and Voice Overs and th IP.... That was it...
Bioware did all of this. They didn't over hype anything here. Everything here is just what they advertised. They didn't pull a Warhammer(ironic I know), nor did they pull a Darkfall kind of launch move.

so why are you disappointed?

I'm not disappointed. There are only a few things I don't like about the game.

1. Customization - Body types are pretty bad still. Number 2 looks like he has an eating disorder and I think that's suppose to be the normal body type. The heads in the game are very limited, I see clones of myself and I'm forced to show my helm. I want something that lets us dye our armor and/or robes. I would like to be able to fully recustomize my guy aside from race/class. One of my friends rolled a Zabrak and whenever we play together we are clones. :|

2. Bugs - There are quite a bit that need working on. Instead of releasing new content(right away), I'd like to see them iron out the game a little more.

3. PvP - When I'm leveling up, I feel like Warzones are worth it. When I'm on a lvl 50 character, I get utterly destroyed by the old 50s(who have full sets by now) who use to farm me when I was lvl 11 lol. It seems like eventually things will balance out and there will be a lot more ungeared people to PvP against(like in WoW). Right now though I'm not stepping foot in the 50s bracket. I tried 2 games, it was awful. I don't consider myself a top notch PvPer or anything but I do love it. Currently at Valor rank 43(Centurion). More incentives to world PvP please! Maybe include a lower level PvP area also?

4. Guilds - It would be nice to have the option to label characters in the guild as dps or tanks or heals. Also how about a guild base of some kind?(SEE BELOW).

5. No player housing - I don't count ships as player houses. You can't customize them beyond what's needed for space combat. I'd like to put a trophy on my wall or change my current layout. We could make due with instanced player houses or apartments. We don't need full player cities. Yes SWG was badass but they aren't gonna do it. Neocron did player housing and it was great. All instanced but fully customizable and players could enter as long as they knew ur password. (front door would still be locked but they included a doorbell)

6. Lack of RP support/props. - When the game was coming out, I was so excited to be able to RP in a game again. I just don't feel any love from the devs on this one. We can't even sit down in chairs in the cantina! WTF

Overall great game. Worth a sub if you love Star Wars and have been looking for something since SWG to play.

I agree with most of this. I wish they'd fix the damn resolve bar :(

I'm level 48 in mostly full 40 PvP gear(except weapons and a few odd pieces). I easily kill almost everything. However, I was on Voss, and a quest mob spawned with 1 add, and had an ability that dropped me to half hp in one shot. My compainion was killed seconds before. Might be a bugged npc... other than that, nope! Just keep companion geared and you should be good. Use your healer companion if things get tough.

If you are having trouble with a class quest due to +lvl, then I recommend PvP until you are at or above it.

Umadbro?

Finish story-line(s) for main and alt(s). - 11.0%

 PVP - 5.5%

 Operations (Raids) - 2.7%

 Flashpoints - 0.0%

 Because it's only $15. - 4.1%

PvP, Operations, Flashpoints, Finish story-lines for main and alts. The game is actually a lot of fun. If you like Star Wars enough you'll be happy. People bash it w/o giving it a real chance. It has been out for a month and people compare it to current day WoW, a game that has been out for 7 years. It had the most stable launch I've ever participated in.

The bugs are bad sometimes but they are working on those. They know they aren't totally on track, give them a chance to fix it. Bioware still has my respect. With titles like Mass Effect 1+2 and DA:Origins + DA2, I know they won't let us down. EA, well maybe.

Eyelolled was correct in stating that Blizzard no longer has what it takes to produce a QUALITY product. They're letting money dictate "success" rather than the players themselves dictate what is a success. It is absolutely unacceptable what they're doing to Diablo 3.

-Adding in RMT's to ruin the general experience. We play games like Diablo 3 to GET AWAY from RL stuff like money!!!!

-Bleeding concepts from WoW HEAVILY into Diablo 3, like that demon-hunter chick, as well as the "kiddy" art style is unacceptable. Go compare Diablo 1, Diablo 2, and now Diablo 3's artstyle. You'll notice how hardcore Diablo 1 was, and how moderately dark Diablo 2 was, and now Diablo 3's artstyle just looks like it's HelloKitty Online [Demon Edition]. Seriously, WTF happened here?!

I agree with this guy 100%. Torchlight 2 is looking better and better.

You exploiters can justify it anyway you want. You still cheated.

So... "He said a good example is some of the fixes coming to the Sith Warrior and Jedi Knight.

What do they mean by that? Are they saying Warriors and Knights are OP? They aren't at all. I'd be really mad if we got nerfed, but sorcerers were left alone.

Okay so I'm hearing a lot of reports from players saying that they like TOR but they don't want to stay subbed to it, or that they are going to cancel and resub back to the game when they've added more content/fixed issues.

DON'T DO THAT.

EA/Bioware spent a lot of money on SW:TOR, I'm hearing estimates around $300 million or so, that's the most money a company has ever tossed at the MMO industry.  You WANT them to toss money at us.  However in order to cover such a big investment, Bioware needs an evern bigger return, and that's where the MMO community comes in.  Unlike other gaming industries, MMOs need to establish a relationship with the playerbase to keep making money, and lately that relationship as soured. A lot of developers think the MMO community has turned into a bunch of loud-mouth, lazy, fickle bunch of spoiled brats.

We need to change our ways and have more realistic expectations of new MMOs if the industry is going to survive.

1.) We need to understand that a game that just launched is simply not going to have as much end-game content as a game that's been out for over a 1-6years.

2.) We need to understand that if we want new content, we have to pay for it.  If you like the game but want more content, unsubbing isn't going to help, but only make things worse.

3.) We really need to stop comparing everything to WoW.  I think this is self-explanitory.

4.) We really need to stop wishing every MMO that's not your kind of MMO will fail.  Just because I might not like that style of MMO doesn't mean that it should fail, and nobody be allowed to play it.

I'm not a SW:TOR fanboy, I'm just concerned what will happen to the industry if a huge financial investment like TOR can't buy its way into the market.  I can imagine that it's failure will create another black hole, similiar to Warhammer, where the industry was stuck in the dark ages of bad mmos for another 2-3 years.  Or even worse, MMOs turn out to be an unprofitable fad and they pull the plug like they did with the Guitar Hero type games.

So in conclusion if you do like Star Wars: The Old Republc, give them your money.  TOR may not be the best game in the market, or any good at all, but it's definitely super expensive, and it's new, and EA gets really mad if they don't get paid.  We want to keep the relationship between MMO companies and communities good, or they might pull out and go make cheap browser games or something.

You bring up some really good points dude. My favorites are numbers 1 and 3. I love TOR, and when I hear people badmouthing it, I question them, not the game. My guild and I are having a blast. Say goodbye to a boring wall of quest text. Say hello to incredible story and fun pvp/raids.

If I had to pick out the things I dislike it would be this:

1. Unresponsiveness(Yep, I noticed it also. I press a button at a critical moment, only to have the skill fire seconds later when its too late)

2. Lag? I get a ton of lag spikes during the peak hours of playtime. Ping 33, ping 1000. Ping 53, ping 890. My ms is fine with everything but TOR. My FPS is stable.

3. Resolve - I'm sure they know this is screwed up.

4. Customization - This is a big one. WTF were they thinking on this one? I see clones of myself like every 20 minutes. I picked a Zabrak which makes it worse. Only like 5 diff types of heads? Cmon Bioware. I'm really hoping that Legacy lets you pick new options, new heads, new tattoos and new haircuts. I'm not an emo RL, so why would I want that haircut in game?

5. Names - This is just a pet peeve of mine. Nothing is more annoying than seeing a really bad name in SWTOR. You know the ones I'm talking about. I try to report them for spam so they get a name change flag. I bet even on RP servers names aren't enforced. I saw a racial name and I've seen some names with sex jokes or refrences in them. Where's the name police.

6. Music - The music is great for the most part. However, I was on Hoth yesterday. There was total silence. I didn't hear one song. Finally I got bored and opened Winamp and put on the actual Hoth song from Empire. I'm that nerdy.

I don't know if you all read this, I hope some of you did. I think the game has great potential. Give it a chance. How long has it been out? Less than a month!

Wow, interesting. I guess it depends on the recommended specs for PC. If it won't run like a champ on my PC, I'll go XBOX360.

The numbers come with a caveat, however: These sales reflect 'box' sales, not digital.

Enough said.

I'm tired of all the whining and complaining about the game. If you love it, play it. If you hate it, play WoW.
