Use www.canyourunit.com before buying a game, it will tell you if you can play it properly or not.

Yup it's the same as in LOTRO , beautiful water, but you can't submerge. But it frankly doesn't matter to me. Never liked those underwater quests in WoW anyway.

WTF is up with graphic hatred around here?

Just open your godddamn eyes and compare it to WoW, if you managed to open your eyes you'll see that WAR has far better graphs than WoW! And still 10 M ppl play WoW?

They also didn't implent uber graphs because that wouldn't suit to the whole warhammer environment! Ever seen the tabletop game of warhammer? I think they really nailed the look of it. And I for one love it + if it the game doesn't require such a big graph card, more ppl can play it = MORE WAR

Now sit the hell down and enjoy the game, or leave and go play AoC with 0 % content, but at least you can go "ooh look at the landscape around me".

Well I've ofcourse noticed the option to play it in windowed mode (you'd have to be blind to miss it) , but the problem is , it simply doesn't do anything. I can't change the resolution of the game either. It has only one choice..

I'll guess I'll try that alt+enter thing to be sure!

Hi people I've been playing the game now for 2 days (servers down atm) so I'd tought I'd share my experience with you. So far I've only one char: a dwarf runepriest rank 14 (rank 13 renown)

Graphics
While the overall game setting (orcs ,humans, elves) looks alot like WoW, the graphics are alot different. WoW had a much more cartoony feel to the game. In WAR its more serious and more realistic. Which is nice for a chance. The downside is that you'll need a good graph card to enjoy WAR to it's fullest.

Gameplay PvE
The overall combat is alot the same like WoW, LoTRo,.. like so many mmorpgs! Indeed it is perhaps slightly slower, but I hardly noticed it. There are tons of quests for PvE in the game. Some will even bring you in RvR territory which can be exciting.

A cool thing are the PQ's, which are alot of fun, with some good rewards, trust me! Another good thing is that you can join any group anywhere. If you enter a new zone you can see all the 'open groups' and simply join them in whatever they are doing.

Gameplay PvP (scenario's)
The scenario's are really cool, and I think they are by far more popular then open field RvR, well that is for the Tier 1 and 2 zones. I don't know about higher lvl. There are for each Tier zone a different scenario you can play, these are very different from each other which makes it fun!

Also I find doing scenario's one of the more fun and faster ways of getting exp and ofcourse renown. A downside is that you can't walk trough other ppl while in PvP. This can get really frustrating, I wish they'd change that.

Crafting
Well I am a butcher and an apothecary. Butchery is quite easy, it's a simple gathering skill like skinning in WoW. Apotecary is harder, since you have to experiment with your ingredients. I don't really see alot of point in crafting, perhaps later on for money making, I don't know, but it's quite boring atm.

Tomb of Knowledge
I really like this, it's kinda like your deed log from LOTRO. Only alot more deep! It tracks all the things you kill, do, find, ... It also contains lore and other fun facts! In the beginning it was kinda hard to find your way in it, because it was so huge! But after a while you get used to it :)

Other Aspects
Well let's see, the UI is quite common. You can chance alot of it, so you won't be needing lots of addons I think. The warband icons of your allies are to small imo to heal them properly.
One thing I'd like to add is that 'windowed mode' is not available for this game, which is imo a huge dissapointment. Because I normally play mmo's in windowed mode so I can check my internet at the same time and switch back fast.

Ah well I guess I'll leave it here. All in all, a good game! Some minor things that need fixing imo, but lots of great potential to become a great mmo!

BUMP

Hi so I just finished downloading the 9GB 'open beta' of WAR, it said that game would immediatly patch to full version after I completed it.. well it didn't. When I tried to login with my account (which I created months ago on the eu war site), it said "authentification failed pls reenter your..."

So can I only login to the game tomorrow(when headstart begins)? And will it then automaticly start to patch and will I be able to enter my codes then?

Or how does it exactly go?

Please help.

I myself am considering the core servers.

Hey!

I just saw the 4 different server types and I am curious.. what will you ppl choose, and why?

Anyway if you don't know what the different servers stand for , read this http://herald.warhammeronline.com/warherald/NewsArticle.war?id=252

Immediatly got my codes and stuff, but they said that the game will automaticly patch itself from the beta version.

So I'll have to download the open beta right? And it will patch to full version? So I can use my codes to get headstart acces and items? Am I correct?

I think it really sucks that the collecter's editions gets 2 days ahead over the standarad ones.

And even better, the COE isn't even available anymore! SO that forces me to wait for 2 more days :(

ah nice :) seems like fast service.. to some

Havn't done it yet, was planning on doing it tomorrow (sunday). How long has it been since you did this?

Hi,
Seeing the min requirements for WAR, I am a bit concerned if my pc is up to date for it. I'm especially concerend about my processor. Well I don't really know alot about pc's so here are my specs:

Windows Vista Home Premium
Intel Core 2CPU 6400 @ 2.13 GHz
2046 MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 7650 GS

Will this run WAR smoothly? I'm currently playing LOTRO on high settings and it goes good.

Any advice? thanks

So if I preorder it from there, I'll be able (if everything goes right) to play WAR the 15th of sept? Or am I wrong?

No problem, always willing to listen.

I really want to play the game, I still am convinced it will be a blast! So if I 'preorder' it online do I get to play in the headstart?
And when would this headstart be exactly? Cause there is lots of confusion about this..

Extra info: I live in EU

I'm really exciting about this game and planning on pre-ordering it for the head start.
But I've been recently reading some bad reviews of players in open beta. Also lots of people seem to be complaining about the game service..
It's almost making me have second toughts.. so my question(s) is to the EU open beta players:

-Does this game apply to your expectations?
-Does the destruction side indeed outnumber the order(like the alliance out numbered the horde in WoW)?
-And how come ppl think this game is boring at lvl 10? isnt that just because they are boring with mmo's in general?

best regards

Thx for your replies, i'm currently downloading the free trial to see how it will run before actually purchasing the full game.
I know vista takes alot of memory that is why I doubled my RAm to 2GB, which is the maximum for my pc, I don't think I can double it again to 4. So it will have to do with it :(

Hello,

I'm considering switching "back" to lotro. I've played the game for a couple of days during "the pre-order play thingie".

The main problem was that the game had alot of lagg(perhaps it was because of launch date) and that I had to switch to lower graphic quality settings because of it. (it could also be that my graphic card was to low or because of my RAM which was 1GB then, now it has been doubled)

So the thing I'm wondering is, is my computer good enough for LOTRO?

Here are my pc specs:
Windows Vista Home Premium
Intel Core 2CPU 6400 @ 2.13 GHz
2046 MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 7650 GS

If I've forgotten something crucial about my spec, please point it out so I can add it.

An other questions I have is:
How much ppl actually play LOTRO nowadays, and are the servers an active community?
I really enjoyed playing those couple of days with my guardian an I am anxious to start again with a new character, this time for a much longer period, cause I feel I havn't seen that much of the game ;)
