this game just has to be a success. NcSoft has made a great job with this one. No lags and bugs at the launch. Even if almost the whole server meets in the abyss for pvp you dont see any problems with lag. Also the crafting and dungeons are realy nice. Just got to say keep on going NcSoft. you see Aion is a game of many facets - most people approach it as a race to the max level. But guess what max level is not the goal, just play the game, enjoy the ride.

 

This game has so many minigames in it - is it maximizing the flight time to gather aether - risking one more high extract? Crafting and proccing a high level blue? Running the instances that are actually challenging and a bad pull can an will wipe you?

 

Running out of money? Actually I enjoy that immensely - and I ran out of coin a few times - only to make it back with a  proc on blue armor. finally a game when money actually matters- you have to make smart decisions - and when you do you are way ahead of those who make bad ones.

 

The vibrant economy, fights, gathering, crafting, enchanting, socketing, dyeing (coloring) your armorsets, campain quests, cutscenes, spectacular mob models, gliding, flying, tricks with dropping to the ground and breaking your fall at the last moment - (you can escape almost anyone that way), collecting faction specific resources on the opposing faction's land (make a fortune ), rifting, sieges, taking artifacts - boy this game has it all - 500 recipes for every craft, each node dropping two kinds of resources, customizing you build with stigmas

such an amazing game

Since the publisher changed it is just a mess.

All hacker and duper who have been banned from the old publisher have been unbanned and are playin the game again.

You will lag like hell. The server for europe is located in Korea so your ms will be by 600+

The game is full of bugs. Even bugs which have been removed months ago are back...

It's like ... The took all of the positive aspects of grinding and put them together in a very formulaic and calculating way. They took inspiration from FFXI and created a very fun dual-class system. They took the quest-grind idea from WoW and EQ and built a leveling curve around it. They peppered it with daily quests, housing, significant role of guilds, and a lot of extras that make the game feel complete.

On the downside, it lacks the polish that you find in a game like WoW with their huge budget and 7+ years of ongoing development.

For the record, I'm just a lowbie L23Knight/Priest, but I have not spent a cent yet. Unless you feel the overwhelming need to have ALL THE BEST STUFF RIGHT NOW you don't need to put out much money. Just about everything that you could pay for, you can get for free if you don't mind working at it. You can buy a lot of items with gold (the currency you DONT pay RL money for). I'm in a guild with a lot of experienced players. There are people who have been playing since launch who have not spent a cent and are really enjoying the game. There are also players who enjoy things like customizing the color of their mounts and having EVERYTHING NOW!!! and they have spent over $200.

Personally, I am probably going to drop $80 at the diamond shop eventually. That's enough to get a permanent mount (about $7) and have a ton of diamonds left to make things slightly smoother. To me, that's a reasonable amount to spend on a game that you enjoy that provides hundreds of hours of quality entertainment. There are people on this board and others who complain that to have all of the best gear RIGHT NOW they would have to spend over $200 ... That's nice. But it's not necessary. I enjoy the process of developing my character, and the grind in this game is always rewarding and fun. Daily quests are easy (in fact you can buy the items you need from the auction house!) and the reward tokens can get you things that would otherwise cost RL $.

For all it's worth, I give this game 8/10. There are some quirks in the UI, the occasional glitch and a few rough translations, but it hasn't taken away from the fun! If you're bored and looking for something new, I would recommend ignoring all the whiners and just give it a try. I mean ... forums attract whiners, and sometimes people have valid complaints ... but with no cost of entry, it's worth downloading and dedicating a few nights to see if it's a game for you :)

and yeah i already recognized that much former WoW players are playin this game.

compared to all free 2 play mmos and 80% of pay to play mmos ;)

Runes of Magic is the best free 2 play game. those who try to talk about rappelz... well im sry but rappelz is one of the worst grind games ever plaid.

Runes of Magic is the first f2p game that can be compared to p2p games. its even better then 80% of the p2p games.

seems like many people who are bashing the game make multiple accounts just to make others feel there are many who hate the game (just need to take a look at the low accout of posts they made and all their posts is about rom is crap)

yep its in many things like WoW and that is what makes it interestin for many people. but its also like other games like guild wars. and the developers showed that they constantly improve the game. it has much content for a new game. im lookin foward to see how the game will be improved in the future

well yeah now the game is released for some months and its still the best f2p game. i have played almost all the f2ps on the mmorpg-list but experienced just grind, grind and more grind.  runes of magic is the only good f2p with less grind and good content.

jut try it on yourself..its free anyways ;)

there will be always people without brain who wont understand what f2p means.
