I was just saying that when Iraq was invaded, I didnt see that much opposition from people in the UN, I only saw opposition from the general population. I am strongly against the war myself, and bringing together real-life politics with Eve was never my intention, and you're right... Eve is a great game |

When I was writing about the strategy i was suggesting, I had in my mind the mass-destruction strategy that BoB recently introduced (btw, how did that turn out?). Just basically cram as many anti-BoB pilots into BoB space, and rip everything apart

I like that thinking, but when you say it in that way, I have one word for a reply: Iraq. Everybody seemed to be united to invade Iraq in the UN at the time (at least it seemed to me). And also, I've never really seen Eve as the sort of place where alliances would have to go through a lot of red tape and regulations in order to cooperate, they just... cooperate i guess. But then again, I may not have enough understanding of the situation in Eve to be right, it's just my opinion. |

Before I ask this question, I need to point out that the most experience that I have with Eve is a few trials and searching around the forums, so please be gentle to a noob? I've heard a lot of stuff about BoB, about how they're such a pain in the ass to so many alliances. But then I take a look at how many members they have, as I figured that they would have to be pretty big to be such a nuisance... less than 3000 members. Come on, I think Goonswarm just by itself has about 4000 to 5000 members, and that's just one of the alliances fighting against BoB! I know the whole deal about how so much of Goonswarm is made up of noobs and all, but there are so many thousands of players in all these other alliances, so this leads to my questions: Why can't all the alliances just team up ALL AT ONCE (I'm talking about beginning a coordinated attack over a matter of a few days) and literally beat the living shit out of BoB once and for all? I believe that not only would it get of a big pest, but it would also create some interesting results with the ensuring power balances to be made not only around where BoB's territory is, but pretty much all over the Eve Universe. Would the power struggles that would ensure for BoB's territory begin more large-scale wars between major alliances all over the galaxy? What would happen to BoB itself... would it break up and divide itself into new alliances, or be absorbed by the major alliances already around, or maybe would it even massively-relocate itself to somewhere else in 0.0, or start plaguing Empire space? In all, I think that this entire idea would actually catch the attention of many people outside of Eve Online, and of course the people in Eve already would be affected a lot by the consequences. |

To the OP, I am a HUGE fan of TF2 and MMO's, so I'm pretty surprised that you drew such a unique comparison betweent the two games, but then again I think it's pretty smart :) Out of curiosity, when you compare it to TF2, do you mean you compare it not only to the specialisations of each class of TF2, but also in perhaps... roleplaying? I know that sounds strange, but remember the emotes and taunts that each class has in TF2, I'm hoping that perhaps at least one MMO out there (hopefully WO:AOR) has decided to perhaps that same dynamic to the game. |

Hmmm... i think this might end the argument as to what genre it is: (From Job Listings on Blizzard's Website) Senior Graphics Programmer - Next-Gen MMO "Blizzard Entertainment is looking for an experienced senior graphics programmer to work on its next-generation massively multiplayer game. The ideal applicant will be proficient in shader programming and have 3D graphics API experience. Blizzard Entertainment offers a fun, creative, and technically challenging environment with excellent compensation and a full range of benefits.
Looks like it's an MMORTS to me, or else they wouldn't ask for someone with experience with RTSs. |

Coffee, the hybrid idea is actually a pretty good idea. I know that that ground has already been tread on by any MMORTS (such as "Beyond Protocol"), but I would think that Blizzard would want to tread ground that needs to come into the spotlight because its so good, hence perhaps the title "Next-Generation MMO" that they refer to the new MMO by on their job listings website. So i don't think its going to be an RPG, but who knows, this is Blizzard we're talking about here, they managed to keep Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 secret for so long, so we have a while until we find out. To blackthornn, it doesn't matter if they lose subscribers from WoW to another of their MMOs, its still the same money coming in. Also... wow, you're 4-year old son plays WoW? Melees as a warlock? I mean, WOW! He must be some sort of child prodigy or something, most complex game i could play when i was that age was pacman. |

The sad problem that i just realised with mmo's is that i can only subscribe to them with game cards, so really i only have access to wow, ddo and lotro. there are game cards for sony online games and ncsoft games where i am, but they're just too damn expensive! i'm also not really interested in those free-to-play mmo's, like guild wars, they just don't catch my fancy. so yeah, when i get the chance, i will try lotro one more time, along with ddo, and if those don't work for me, guess i'm just back to wow then... |

Basically, i'm curious about several mmo's, and i was wanting some advice about these games. I want to play a game which has a good leveling system (played WOW, and enjoyed the leveling system in it) and plenty of high-level content, but i also want to play a game that doesnt make you have to grind too much to get to the big stuff, like raiding for WOW. All advice is welcome, thank you. The games that i'm interested in are: - Dungeons and Dragons Online - Vanguard: Saga of Heroes - Everquest 2 - Tabula Rasa - Pirates of the Burning Sea |

wow, i'm flattered that so many people have already replied to this thread so soon after it's been started, thank you all for caring . one thing i forgot to mention is that i live in south-east asia, so if i want to do dungeons/raiding, i want to join a game that doesn't have connection problems if your ping is bad (this happened with me in WOW a lot, so i really want to avoid this with any new games). to answer one of the suggestions, i've already tried lotro, and it didn't appeal to me that much (i guess maybe it was because you don't have classes like mages in it), but when i get the chance, i'll try out ddo (dungeons and dragons online, fyi for that other guy), it does sound really good. another thing, i've had a look at some screenshots of everquest and everquest 2, they look like the sort of game that i'd enjoy a lot, but i don't want to play a game which is too time consuming... can anybody please brief me on those two games so that i can get a clearer idea about them? once again, thank you all very much for your help |

I've tried WOW and guild wars: factions, but neither satisfied me. I like the "spooky" (if you'd call it that) aspect of the undead enemies in both games, but other aspects just didn't appeal, WOW felt too cartoonish, and guild wars had graphics that were too anime-like for my tastes. But i like the sort of graphics you find in eq2. The sort of game i'd like to play would have a bit of a horror tinge to it's creatures. I also enjoy realm vs. realm combat and dungeons/raiding. Or maybe a good sci-fi game, i've tried eve online, but i didn't enjoy the click-and-wait style it had. please help! i'm open to all sorts of suggestions |

if you play in the us, then have you perhaps considered playing on the oceanic servers for WOW? i'm sure that they'd work in time periods that would suit you... |

hmm... and i've gotten bored of it at level 26. time for a new mmo for me! but seriously, it's an ok game if you don't play it frequently. I really hate aspects of it where you have to continuously grind to achieve something, that is just not fun (and isnt playing a game about having fun?). that's why i'm looking forward to Infinity: Quest for Earth and also getting back into Eve online... |
