the installed files may a bit more than 12gigs, as I read some beta testers said it was 13~15. anyway, if anyone has a problem downloading they should check their connection. it seems no one is reporting any serious problems so far, just some download speed issues. |

client download from war-europe: www.war-europe.com/#/clientdl/ (10~12GB) information about UK/EU SE pre-order: www.warhammeralliance.com/forums/showthread.php (check war-europe for links) pre-order FAQ: www.war-europe.com/#/grabbag/
please be sure to open the required ports (6881 to 6889, and 6969(TCP)) and/or add the downloader to the firewall allow list. the downloaded files are being saved where the downloader is located (if the downloader is at C:\, then it will be saved at C:\wareuopenbeta). NOTE FOR VISTA USERS: someone suggested running the downloder as admin, otherwise you MAY not be able to download. so if you have issues and you have vista, try to run it as admin. NOTE FOR CURRENT BETA-TESTERS: "current beta testers will be able to patch their clients; no new download is needed if you already have one."
cheers! |

edit: oh, someone just replied an answer above me. thanks. |

that's weird. same thing happened to me but with my ISP instead of funcom. I'm using thunderbird (like the guy who posted the picture of it). maybe it's a client issue? |

New Video will be based on 1 terabyte of raw video data !!

Well, if thats true, that means they have at least a month's worth of raw game footage. Now, I dont care much for this game, havent followed it, but I wont hate on it. Yet, I find it more than a little odd that they would have so much data compiled, and yet havent released even small bits of it. Hell, several years of development, and with gaming footage and such as sparse as it is from what I've read, seems more like they have been twiddling their thumbs the entire time. I can appreciate good footage, but if its taking them a terabyte of it just to get a decent video out of it, I'd be a little worried that it took so much just to get several minutes of good footage.
And being the best of three isnt much of an accomplishment to me, sorry. With several years, you'd think they'd have a bit more to throw out than 2 videos, then this one.
FRAPS actually does about 3 gigs of video in about 7~10 minutes. at least for me. and that is in quite low-medium quality settings. basing a video on 1-terabyte of data seems plausible to me. it means they have a lot of high quality material, and it just requires editing. I always have a big video-source when I compile a movie of some sort, and it always ends up a lot shorter than the source. that's how editing works I suppose. maybe they were not sure about their product, and wanted more time until they release data they felt good with. anyway, I totally understand your concern. I just hope to see a movie of the game itself and know it's alive and kicking. |

Where did the persistant world go...
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 8/25/08 8:26:16 AM
I don't understand why people want all MMOs to be the same. and I really don't understand people who start bashing an MMO because it's not to their liking. honestly, if you think WoW is better - then stick with it, just don't go around and say that all games should be more like WoW. a big persistent world does NOT mean the game is a sandbox. sandbox, at least for me, is a game where you're hardly ever limited by unchangeable choices. WoW, for example, has many limitations. a class system is always a limitation, not being able to manually choose attributes is a limitation, etc...
further more, I think WAR just needs more polish, more content, more customization (it didn't even launch yet so it got time). it is good as it is; it aims for a certain crowd; people who want an MMO with focus on PVP, but on a bigger scale than usual. making the world more open would barely change a thing. |

tbh OP, I actually think the same. Order seem like those insane fanatics who'll do EVERYTHING to cleanse the lands from the 'filth' who are the Chaos, making them more evil in my book. I mean, have you seen how the Order look? their eyes? they have that look.. those eyes..... empty eyes, as if they're hollow within. that's bad-ass.

damit, this really saddens me to hear. I usually play MMOs on EU servers because of ping issues. it seems like I'm gonna HAVE to play warhammer on American servers if I want better service. I just hope my ping won't be as bad as I think.

I'm with you. this game has potential written all over it, and I will sure follow it and see where it goes. without solid reviews, I ain't buying it though. patience is my rule of thumb regarding MMOs ;P all I can do now is hope the launch will be smooth to everyone who pre-ordered, and that they will enjoy the game (:

Originally posted by shae whoa, that's such a amazing idea! I hope some day I'll see that idea implemented.
